Out of all of them...I think Liam Delap could do a job. Got a bit of the devil in him, likes a battle and knows where the goal is. Surprised Cannon did better than him at PNE tbh

Considering they needed to get a result, that was a really professional performance. Well played 21's everyone played a part

From people who have watched the under 21's this season, what are Harry Leonard's strengths and what type of forward is he?
Leonards strengths:
Holds the ball up well, Aggressive, Selfish in and around the box. Get the feeling he is confident in his own ability and doesn't hide....but it's 21's which is a world away from the Championship.

Spurs play Wolves on Friday. Draw would probably suit us.

Sad to see young players released. Harlock and Burns played a big part in the good youth cup run a few years back. Harlock seems to have been playing in different positions this year and looks to lack a bit of confidence. Burns has had some injuries, which probably haven't helped. Saadi looks technically good. Good luck to them.

Cirino.and Burns injured. Eastham required as 3rd keeper now Kaminski injured. Other 23's involved in internal game in Wednesday with 1st teamers who don't get many if any minutes tomorrow. Presume Leonard and Harlock involved in that also.

Scoreline a bit flattering to Rovers. Lacked a bit of quality all over the pitch. Eastman played well.

21's game on MUTV tonight

They normally trickle down from the elite clubs. Anyone round here who shows any signs is quickly signed by Liverpool, Utd, City.
There's a young boy at Liverpool, Preston lad who's a forward just about to break through....I've known him since a 11 year old, quite a player. Isaac Mabaya
Thought he was a right back ?

Pike popped his hamstring about 6 weeks ago and required surgery. Probably after Xmas before anywhere near fit to play.

Burns has been injured for a few weeks

Are they trying to convert Harlock into a RB?
Not sure. He usually plays CM or out wide. Seems to have the armband for the 21's so maybe just finding an available position for him to play the other night. Thought he done OK though.

Maybe he wants to go 3-4-3 so having 4-5 CB needed and allows Phillips to go out on loan should he sign
-
Yes he plays with more freedom in the 21's and carries the ball more but can't blame him for keeping it simple. More games, more confidence I suppose.

I hope he stays. Gets a contract for £3-5k pw + picks up win bonuses as part of the squad and plays 6-10 games this year. Tbh if he keeps developing the contract will get torn up and replaced but the pathway is the most important part and if he continues in the England squad then the sky's the limit. Big money move by 21 and Blackburn get a whopping payday.

Sam Burns and Harry Leonard (pen) were the scorers

I don’t believe you. Ferguson, Gamble, Pratt, Phillips, Wharton, Gilsenan, Lenonard. That’s seven that I know have played for the u23s. I know that knocks your agreement out the park. You don’t like anybody questioning your views.
Ferguson (3rd yr scholar and Gisenan aren't U18's...but the team generally does have a few 18's in each game.

They're the same age. But one is playing in the u23s and one in the u18s. The former is clearly ahead of the latter, at the same age, yet we have given more security to the latter. It doesn't make sense on the surface.
Ones a Scholar and ones a 1st year pro.

The goalie? Nah pretty sure he wasn't released, they bought him. Was rumoured to be about half a million. I remember being amazed as they were paying that for him to just be backup in the youth team, more than we have paid for a first team keeper in years.
Yeah it was compensation but he never got offered a pro at Rovers.

Ok, Mowbray has undermined his junior managers then who have seen him for 2 years, on the strength of a game.....
Quite possibly, but that game was against several youth internationals and he played really well.

So, Mowbray doesn't look over the scholars and keep across the ins and outs......is he not sitting down with his junior managers and discussing each one in detail.
Or, has he given a pro contract on the strength of one U18s game?
Just shows his apathy towards young players, Nyambe and Travis perfect examples of him stunting their growth
I would imagine First team staff get more involved with pros at 23's upwards. The club employs managers at different levels to make these decisions. It could be budgets, positions, etc that determines who gets what. Plus, the loan system for young pro's. To suggest a first team manager gets involved with every scholar decision would seem to stretch it a bit in my opinion.

I agree. His return has been poor but I think he will come good soon. Got the youth pedigree just needs to put it together at senior level. If he's a City player, he's got something about him.
