Having a heart about 96 people dying at a football match is not political.

You should be ashamed of yourself for suggesting otherwise, frankly.

Excellent posturing there, you're such a good person. Now that you have Peacocked your sanctity perhaps we can get back to Blackburn Rovers?

    Wasn't my point.

During a covid "summer" during a lockdown without "holidays" 🤷‍♂️. We signed Tyrhys Dolan.

We singed 4 players on deadline day (Pears, Elliott, Trybull, Douglas)

Even had to play our first cup game without a proven keeper as Kaminski was quarantined until 1 day before we played Bournemouth. Ayala was signed after the season started.

Were we the only club in that position? Genuine question as it always seems to me that a multitude of clubs scramble around on deadline day.

I always "enjoy" this period... we assume nothing is happening because Mowbray and Waggott are on holiday, hence why all the "good" "Bosman's" get snapped up over the next 2 weeks by other clubs...

Only to be told by the LT in about 2 weeks time that the transfer activity will increase a week later once Mowbray and Waggott are back from holiday, and after they speak to the owners a week after that.

    I await the usual shambles.

I seem to remember last summer's window being fairly unanimously hailed as a good one.

If he is just a show pony, you have to ask why?

He is the most astute player in our squad. We've missed a trick due to bad management in my opinion. Fancy benching him.

The next time we have a Germany or England international in our team will be a long time hence.

    Unbelievealbe own goal.

Certainly a talent with a good pedigree. I just think that the stars didn't align. His first kid, family in Germany and lockdowns in place, catching Covid and some niggling injuries. I thought he going to be the new Tugay after Preston away but it just wasn't to be.

Atmosphere wise, best Rovers game ever. We got on just before they locked the gates to the away section at 2pm. It was rammed in there. As you say there were two or three thousand Rovers fans on the Beehole End, maybe more. We scored early and Rovers fans queuing to get on the Beehole End thought Burnley had scored, the roar was so loud. Fights were breaking out all over the shop and hundreds of Rovers fans were led out around the perimeter of the pitch and somehow shoehorned into the Longside. I remember EiT commenting about this game in the past, a guy near him crapped into a pint pot and lobbed it over into the six fingered lot. There were Rovers fans in the Cricket Field Stand as well. We absolutely murdered them and missed a pen to make it 4-0 just before half time. They somehow scored twice to make the score look respectable and with the ref playing seven minutes injury time, I was biting my fingernails at the end to say the least. The atmosphere on the Longside with the fans side by side was generally superb and probably the best in the entire league but, with this game being an East Lancs Derby, it was white hot. Never to be repeated, unfortunately.

I was there and it was my first away game. I have memories of Accrington town centre being totally blue and white, an Edgar Pickering Transit van with around 20 blokes in the back, a pub in Hapton with hundreds of Rovers fans on the car park, blue and white 'Ecky Thump' hats and walking down the side of the cricket club and seeing the packed mass of Rovers fans bouncing on the Longside. I was in the Cricket Field Stand with my mate and his Dad and, although I was only 10, I have a distinct memory of it being mainly Rovers fans in there.

Firstly my post was about the present, not the past.

But yes I forgive them, not the type to hold a grudge forever.

Lost 10,000 fans? No we didn’t. We lost 10k people who pop by Ewood if they fancy it, like Oxford at home.

Don’t give a **** about that lot. I follow Rovers through it all, not just when it’s a good day out.

For me you can't forgive Venkys for what they did by dismissing it as being in the past.

I have no reason to doubt that you love the club so it puzzles me that you can readily forgive them for their crass, destructive disregard for it.

Did Bale spend 2 seasons looking like he couldn't get in a pub team? Did Spurs have little money for transfers and gambled most of it on him? Were they desperate to get back in the Premiership?

Not sure there's a comparison to be had there.

To be fair to Bale, he did have a lot of injuries but he also didn't feature in a Spurs winning team for 2 years and he was ridiculed along with the club who had paid a lot of money for him. On that basis it's a fair comparison.

So I take it after two years of really poor performances after a £7 million deal, he wouldn’t be receiving anything as vicious as ‘tuts’ and ‘sighs’ like the bear pits of Lancashire anywhere else?

It was more than "tuts and sighs". Myself and a mate had to restrain his son from chinning a bloke at Bramhall Lane when he shouted some vile abuse at Brereton as he warmed up from the subs bench.

    Huge sympathy?

You're kidding, right? The tuts and sighs around me in the JW whenever he did something that didn't come off are unbelievable.

For better or worse, Lancastrians are some of the most critical fans around.

Didn't Jimmy Armfield say words to that effect specifically about Rovers fans?

  10. I'm shocked that some on this board seem irritated enough to put a negative spin on yesterday's result by emphasisng the defeat in the game before.

*sarcasm mode off* (Vladimir Ivic said Rovers are the best team Watford have played this season by the way)

Big Sam was in charge, fans were restless as not hitting heights of Hughes. We had no money, Walker family wanted out wouldn’t invest. We was always going down. If Venkys knew then what they did now they could of saved us, but they didn’t.

Point is with or with out them, I know we finished 10th, but you could see writing on the wall.

Venkys were awful don’t get me wrong, but now they aren’t, so quit crying and back the new era.

I think "the road to hell" is stretching it and nobody will ever know what would have transpired had Venkys not darkened our door.

    I can't forgive and forget I'm afraid.
