Their starting 11 is good so far, and usually at least one of their front three is good enough to score, but their subs are mid and Scarr has lapses of judgement now and then. They also play Palace tomorrow

Watford Away....A treat for some of our older supporters!
As a youngster it's weird seeing everyone wear collars, especially that ref's gigantic collar

I also watch Rugby League and the salary cap has at least made it more competitive in general - but you've still only had 3 grand final winners in 17 years - so I'm not even sure that is the answer. FFP hasn't helped at all in football either.
The salary cap is not RL in the UK's problem, from what I have read it's that most clubs have been poorly run and that without the salary cap things would be much worse. I could also blame the administrative bodies but there's just not enough money to go around because it's a regional code in the NH. I guess you could argue the NRL doesnt do enough internationally.
The NRL has even a larger safety net and just as little parity, because the best young players want to play for the best and largest clubs. Even in systems designed for parity like American sports this happens; especially for neutrals, there is still the appeal of watching the best go at it.

For what it's worth, it is generally not thought've as an international sportswashing operation as much as a domestic one.
The international interest is mostly due to the younger generations (mostly in Africa, Asia and parts of North America) tending to be player fans and the atrophying of mainland European leagues and is unlikely to be a goal.

Where have we linked with Liam Manning?
Not sure on Neilson. What are his strengths and weaknesses? Why would he be good fit here given his first spell in the EFL was good enough?
Manning's very unlikely at this point, it was initially hearsay but he's linked heavily with QPR.
Neilson got a demoralized, relegated squad to conference league qualification and created a sort of siege mentality but his hoofball could damage the development of our youngsters and is too open with the media.

So we wait till July for his contract to expire then he decides he doesn't want to come here. In the meantime any decent out of work managers get snapped up.
That's the usual script isn't it?
Ole Gunnar Solskjær ends up in the dugout. Put your house on it

A Blackburn source has told Football Insider that Carvalhal is a top contender to take the reins ahead of next season.
Also apparently there's interest in Canada boss John Herdman from us, them and QPR. It's an interesting idea, but he has no experience at all in the club game. He has some impressive wins but it's such a different game and I think the Championship is too high-level to cut your teeth on.
We've also been linked with the Wycombe and MK Dons bosses. I think the former is a solidly league one manager but Manning from Dons is slightly interesting.
Also I know its a longshot but thoughts on Robbie Neilson?

Carvalhal is the manager that led Sheff W to playoffs two times and failed both times.. no thanks.
Playoffs at all would be nice.

Available managers...
My list
1.Daniel Farke
2.Sean Dyce
3.Martin Wagner
The anger from them if we got Dyche would be delicious.

Wow, one of 11 teams to 'win' a Mickey mouse trophy that was really only a UEFA cup qualifier, and the actual winners of it were Hamburg.
C'mon, we're not Newcastle fans, we don't need to try and count that.
Just saw it on Transfermarkt and confused it with the Inter-cities fair cup. I was 6 when the thing happened and I sometimes get these pre-Europa League trophies mixed up!

Carlos Carvalhal is the odds favorite. Dont know if bookmakers have a source or not.

Waco, you would have loved it pre Venky's. That period from the early 90's to around 2008 was golden. Absolutely golden. So many proud moments with the Rovers taking it to the big guns and beating them. There were many proud moments in general, not just in beating the big heads. The fight, the heart and the winning spirit was taken away the minute Venky's walked through the door, never to return.
Fair play to you for choosing Rovers when the club was in a bad way and for sticking by your choice. Hopefully, one day the true Rovers will be back. It won't be under these owners though, as we're all hoping they fluke their way to the right appointment and promotion. Nobody has any belief or trust in them to get it right. 12 years is a long time to sort things out and they still haven't managed it. We will be back one day though, I believe that, but when they are far removed from the club.
Its so hilarious to see Man U, Tottenham, etc and even pre-takeover Newcastle fans whine about their owners. They've never have had to actively celebrate declining attendance and other bad things happening to their club because it means there's a higher chance of selling. 6th in the prem is this huge disgrace. What a fcking joke.
We will be back, clubs have come back from way worse, only extinction can kill the spirit of a club. My personal hope is that the global exposure from promotion will get us sold. Even Sheffield United with their two seasons up got them sold.

Interesting. Are you American or an Englishman in New York?
There's a small but dedicated Rover following in the US of non-exiles because of Friedel.

I had to laugh, just good ol’ derision & contempt, sometimes says it all, lol.
I’m probably the most recent Rovers convert on this board. I converted all the way from Texas, when I was 51 years old (I’m 60 now). I never knew the Rovers when they were Englands champs, or winning a League Cup, or playing in Europa. I never even knew them under Big Sam, Hendry, or Kean.
I chose the Rovers (or, maybe they chose me?) But, I didn’t choose them because they were champs. It’s the easiest thing in the world to choose a team that’s winning big. I didn’t fall in love with Liverpool, Arsenal, or either Manchester club. I certainly didn’t fall for Chelsea, or Tots. I’ve been to Blackburn, one day, and to Ewood, one time. Never been to burnley.
I’d like to believe we’re a much bigger club, but the reality is, Blackburn is a bigger city, with a larger stadium, more hardware, and possibly more adherents. But burnley has been in the PL 9 years, while we’ve languished in lesser divisions for a decade.
Maybe we can soon say we’re a bigger club and it won’t ring so hollow.
We're 12th in the all time table. They're 20th. Their last trophy was in 1960. Ours was in 2007.
