Oooh, we should swap notes in private. The company I work for has used our tech in LEGO games (though more MMO kinda stuff than console).

Loving Diablo 3 by the way. Well, it's way too easy on normal and it's essentially D2, but prettier and less annoying ..... but that's no bad thing. Not really had the time to get that far into it yet though.

Stay away from Command and Conquer 4. If you have played the series before then beware this has gone in a completely different direction with no base building/tiberium harvesting or even the ability to produce all your units at once.

Secondly my G’friend has signed up to AOL Wireless and was promised a top speed of 8 mb, yet I ran the website which Den linked her max speed for downloads was under 1 mg which is pitiful. Their obviously a problem, Is it an ISP issue? a problem with here laptop or both. Because the results seem really slow for wireless internet

You have to log onto your router to change the key. Or if you already done that then go into network settings in control panel and click the wireless and there should be part fof it where it can scan for wireless networks. Try to connect to one and then put key code in when it asks and should save it.

AOL actually say that it is up to 8meg not that you will get 8meg. They say this on any off there price plans.

I am on aol thats how i know.

Other than that i would say for you to go on BT website and put your phone number in for adsl checker. And this will tell you the speed you should get.

Our guild has an influx of new firends-of-friends who have just hit 60, so instead of spending yesterday in the Mana Tombs as intended, I spent it back in ZG teahcing people how to raid. Still, helping get a group with 6 first time raiders in it and the rest in around tier 1 level kit to Hakkar without a wipe was quite fun (even with three 70s).

Ive set up some stuff where as soon as i lvl it auto updates me webpage which auto does that picture.

And i got to lvl 70 on 4th feb.

And ive been tanking better than some warriors i no because i can easy pull aggro even if someone mind controlled a mob and with the new passive spell we have where we get 10%(top rank) off the total healed back in mana helps us out to keep aggro.

i only have the lower flying mount.

I have also done some pickup raids in mc/aq20/zg/onyxia where i joined a guild and i made a extra number up but go chance on all loot if for my class.

Guild i am in is only a small ish guild and is multi gaming. We have a battlefield 2142 squad which they dont play wow.

Dvd Decrypter is a good one aswell then dvd shrink to make a dual layer(9gb) disc to a single layer (about 4gb) for people without dual layer dvd discs and burners for making back ups off your OWN legally ownd dvds

It depends on what you intend to download. On 2.5mb I can download a 12gb HD movie overnight. These coem off at full speed from newsgroups which could easily copy with the emerging 8, 16 and 24mb services. Just think, a HD film in only a couple of hours. nice.

If however you use torrents, don't bother, stick with 1.5mb as you are limited by the people who actually have the files.

I have to dissagree with you on the torrent side because i no quiet a few people that share stuff threw torrent and they have 10meg upload speed and this is something like 100 people and i mean 10meg as a adverage some are slower and some are higher.

Also depends if you want to download loads of files over night at once then the faster connections be better because all stuff be finished (fingers crossed) by morning

I know what you mean Jack - Im with AOSmell and Ive never (touch wood) had a problem that was AOL related - BT cocking up yes but not AOL (BT decided that Number 23 was more deserving than number22 [where I live] to recieve the DSL line that I'd paid for)

Im on Aol and recently got a upgrade to 2.5meg from 1meg but recently they been messing and pushing it to see how much i can get recently had it up to 4meg but they put it back down so must be just testing

This is all old news NTL actually sorting 100meg to house and Bt are sorting fibre to the kurb which will give 20 times faster than standard adsl(good for people with fibre to kurb(bt box) already which mean no wait and can order).

Also korea have had 1gig download speed for over 1 year to house holds and just shows how far we are behind these places.

I think this is a bad call by the game developers. People with the lower hard drive for there console will feel this the worse as it will limit them because cannot upgrade the hard drive as its internal unlike the xbox 360

In an effort to get around long load times with Blu-ray discs on the PlayStation 3, some publishers are looking to install game content to the internal hard drive to speed things up. Two games that take advantage of the hard drive install include Ridge Racer 7 and Genji: Days of the Blade.

In the case of Ridge Racer 7, gamers have the option of using up 5GB of storage for game files. With Genji, as much as 4GB can be taken up by game files to quicken load times. According to Sony representatives, a three minute one time only procedure will load the 4GB of game data to your PS3's hard drive. As a result, in-game load times will be cut from 15 seconds down to 4 seconds.

Console gamers have long lobbied that their PlayStations and Xboxes didn't have to worry about such silly things as multi-gigabyte installations or patches to enjoy their games. And now as we progress further with console development, we're seeing consoles take on some of the same characteristics as their PC counterparts. And just today, we saw the release of a patch for Saints Row that fixes a number of issues that should have been caught before the game went gold -- and this is two months after the initial release.

And this leads us all down the road that Sony executives have been hinting at for the past few months -- an always connected, disc-less console with massive amounts of internal storage. Sony's Phil Harrison first talked of a "disc-less" future when he commented that the PlayStation 4 was unlikely to have an optical disc drive. Sony's Jamie McDonald followed up in early October by saying that the majority of gaming content would be provided digitally in the next five years.

So as we all sit around and battle over DVD-9 vs Blu-ray for the current generation of gaming consoles, it looks as though it may become a non-issue in the not too distant future if Sony has its way.

Sony still being plagued by component shortages

According to the Nikkei Keizai Shimbun, Sony is still having problems with component shortages on its PlayStation 3 console. So instead of having 100,000 units on hand for the Japanese launch of the PS3 on November 11, Sony will instead provide 80,000 units.

There was no mention of what specific components were causing the launch numbers to be cut back, but Sony has previously had trouble manufacturing the blue laser diodes used in the Blu-ray drive. IGN reports:

The lack of digits in that number is even more staggering when you consider that the PS2 sold out of nearly a million units when it launched back in March of 2000. Having lived through a few weeks of attempting to obtain a PS3 pre-order, we're not too surprised by the lowered shipping numbers. Allocations disappeared quickly at online retailers that were brave enough to start pre-order programs.

Sony announced back in early September that it would be delaying the European launch of the PS3 until March 2007 due to component shortages. At the time, it was projected that the United States would get 400,000 and 100,000 units respectively.

Despite this recent development, there was no news as to whether US launch numbers would also take a dive.

I'd rather eat my own balls than use IE. It's only been a matter of hours since the release and security researchers have already found a content disclosure vulnerability.

It's the same flaw that affected IE 6, and that was reported to Microsoft over 6 months ago. Nice to know they didn't even bother fixing it before releasing the latest version. It's not critical, but it really should've been sorted.

i was just saying to warn if anything is announced and plus it was so called to have water cooling in it which should be fine and not cause any heat problems but might off took that idea out to save time so they can get loads off machines ready for the convention.

My xbox 360 has never crashed and no other consoles i have havent crashed ever. i must just get a good batch

Ive just found out that the ps3 has been over heating alot at the convention and it just kept crashing so it had to be restarted loads off times.

Never no could be yet another set back for sony as there shares in the business fall aswell with recent call backs off batteries

Does anyone have any experiences (either first or second hand) of Sky Broadband? I've checked on their website and it appears it's available in my area, the £10 a month deal for unlimited 16meg connection seems a little too good to be true. Is it?

Edit: Also, in addition to this, does anyone know what the cheapest line available through BT (or other company) is that can support broadband? Their website is very vague when it comes to phone lines now, everything seems to be about broadband packages...and I don't fully trust them to give me the cheapest over the phone.

Id have to tell you to check with the bt checker or the adsl guide checker to see the maximium speed you can get and also if your exchange supports adsl2+ which is the connect that supports supports 8meg to 24meg connection.

Normal adsl only supports 512kb to 8meg.

So do a quick look into it before ordering because will be a waste off time if you cannot get it
