  1. 24 in his first year. 24 in the NEXT TWO YEARS. Then just 4 in half a season this season. Is that achieving his potential? Hughes couldn't get Benni to perfom like he did in his first season, Ince couldn't and Allardyce is now getting the blame.

You really do like to use anything to Allardyce bash don't you?

Benni has lived off that first season for two and a half years. He is an under-achiever and that is not Allardyce's fault, or Hughes, or Ince but it is Benni's.

Tris, straight question. Has Benni behaved professionally with Rovers over this?

Spot on. Get rid and get Beattie in as a replacement? Can't think of too many more available. Granted Beattie is a completely different player but he would be an Allardyce sort of player. Hopefully Niko will start scoring some goals and we won't miss him at all!

  2. Very disappointed in Benni, fair enough if he wants to leave but that is not the right way to go about it. There's no chance of getting an effort from him now he's done this so might as well get rid as quickly as possible. Slap with the biggest fine possible and get as much money for him as we can.

You're a disgrace McCarthy, no one player is bigger than Blackburn Rovers; certainly not you.

  3. What right have we got to demand finishing in the top 4 or even top 6 or 7 when you compare us with the teams we are competing against?

The top 4 are in a different league for the ovbious reasons we all know. Then take the second league of sides chasing for the places from 5-10 all of which have spent much more money than Rovers have (mainly from new investment), all of which have a much larger fan base to generate more revenue and enable them to spend more money on better and more players. The revenue Rovers has is tiny in comparison and nowhere near enough to compete! The fact that Sparky has us even competing with the likes of City, Pompey, West Ham, Spurs, Everton and probably Newcastle as well is a minor miracle!! Anybody expecting Rovers to compete with the big boys year after year needs to come back down to earth!!

Hughes is doing a fantastic job on the resources he has had/got and im sure if he had the backing that other managers have he would be doing a better job than them but the simple fact is without another Jack Wlaker Rovers simply cannot expect to compete on such a level. Such blame should not be put at the managers door. Obviosuly this doesn't explain nor justify the shocking result/performance against Coventry but i think people need to lower their expectations to a more realistic level.

  4. Just been looking through our negative results so far this season and its pretty depressing reading. Looking at some of the games we have lost (in all competitions).

Cannot remember where I read it, but you do need luck during a season with regards to the timing of when you play teams. That is not just making your own luck during matches, but when you play certain sides. I accept we played pretty well in the Villa game, but it did not do our goal difference much good.

Lost to Chelsea at home without (arguably) their two best/most important players in Terry and Drogba. Plus Cech off for a 1/4 of the game. Thats their spine missing.

Lost to West Ham at home. They had a horrendous injury crisis when we played them (and still do).

Hammered by Aston Villa at home, who themselves are currently going through a poor run of form.

Lost to Arsenal reserve team/back-up players/youngsters in the league cup.

    Larissa.

When we played Villa they were on a fantastic run of form, winning 4 on the run or 5 if i remember right, scoring lots of goals away from home. Plus 4-1 flattered them quite alot.

West Ham and Chelsea were both fortunate, we played well enough to get something from both and missed some very good chances, not good i know but it happens.

Arsenal youth are still a pretty awesome side, would finish above Rovers if that team played a season in the PL imo, they have beaten other PL sides than Rovers as well, they are a good side if they are young, they paid 9 million or so for Eduardo, when was the last time Rovers paid that for 1 player? We still played half decent on Tuesday as well and on another night could easily have snuck through.

Bad results happen, Rovers always go through a bad run of form as does every team each season, lets just ride it out and things will improve. Getting rid of Hughes would be insane, we would still be a small town club with limited funds, punching above out weight and not a very attractable target for the top players availible and WITHOUT a world class manager who can attract the higher quality of players to the club.

  5. We are screwed, it took Rooney 3 months to get back lastt time, it took Owen 4 months to play his first game and it was still bothering him so it doesn't look too good. I know the injuries aren't all the same but they are similar. Without Rooney we have no chance of winning the World Cup. Hopefully he can be fit to play fromt he second round onwards as we should be able to cope without him in the Group stages.

  6. Not sure how Kevin Keegan crept onto that list. We arguably have the best set of players in the world so they need putting in the right formation and motivating, as crazy as sounds for some reaseon these greedy, money motivated stars need motivating to win the world cup!!! I think Stuart Peerce would make an excellent England manager, i'm just not sure if he is ready yet. It a tough call.

  7. The bottom line is 10 men Everton were better than us!

With the exception of Reid everybody played extremely poorly. Friedel looked dodgy, the back 4 were given the run around by Beattie, Bellamy was very quiet along with both wingers, Pongolle was terrible and Savage kept up his consistently shocking performances. I gave Hughes a standing ovation when he finally realised how bad Savage is and pulled him off. The guy is terrible and we desperatly need a creative midfielder to play along side Reid.

We may have missed Pedersen but they didn't want it enough and lost to the better team.

    Roll on Sunderland....
