  1. I was stood on the Burnden Terrace with my dad and uncle. I was 11, and hadn't witnessed an atmosphere like it. Can't remember seeing the goal as I couldn't really see a lot being amongst adults in the all standing area. Did we play Notts county away last game needing to win and someone (Swansea?) lose? I went to the Notts County game aswell with the whole family (if that was the right year!).

    Partly correct 12miles.

That season when we won at Bolton in the old 3rd Div.(72-73). Notts C was the penultimate away game. A win was needed in reality but not mathematically(2 more games remained).Don Hutchings missed a golden chance for us late on.

The other match you mention was at Bristol Rovers for the last match of the season and Swansea had to lose at Preston in season 80-81 in the old 2nd Div.

    Hope that clears things up.

I was at all those games by the way - still had to look it though.

  2. Also, I was always under the impression Jimmy Mullen played in this game and had his leg broke, but I just checked Wiki and he played for us some 5 years earlier. Can anyone remind me if, when and who we were playing when it happened please.

    Wiki is wrong.

Jimmy Mullen broke his leg v Peterborough on the 1st Feb.1975 which was the previous home game before the Plymouth match.

  3. the Eagle and Child at Staveley - top. Or, even the Hawkshead brewery shop at STaveley which is now doing top tapas. :D

Hey Rosie, me & mrs Whittle Blue were in both watering holes last Sunday. Only had drinks though. Damn good pie shop next door to the beer hall and a nice walk along the river too. :D

  4. Rovers v Swindon April 1988

The Swindon keeper, Fraser Digby, had the game of his life.

  5. One of my favourite Rovers photographs shows a diving Ronnie netting in a 2-1 win at Ewood in the FA Cup quarter final against Liverpool in March 1958. Crowd that day, 51k.

  6. Even all the old blokes around me where excited, they even stopped giving Wilcox some stick for a few minutes....

Seem to remember a few other games like it around the same time, such as 3-3 with Leicester when we scored 2 at the death

Poor old Jason. He only made his debut 16 months later.

I've got the Leicester game on video. Shall I put it on You Tube? B)
