  1. I think aesthetically they're quite beautiful. I never understood the "ruining of the countryside" argument.

I got talking to someone living near a bunch of these wind turbines in the lake district and she asked me my opinion on the subject . A good idea , I replied , nothing wrong with them . A look of horror came over the lady and I was obliged to listen to a harangue on their deficiencies , culminating in her trump card that they kept her awake at night . Eventually I even signed a petition against them which the indignant old lady produced .....

Next time I drove past some of the offending windmills I got out and walked right up to one of them . Not a bloody sound... :o Conned again...

  2. Quite often I tell kids about cheap tickets and they haven't been aware of them. They tend to walk around with their eyes closed most of the time.

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that ticket prices must be fixed at the same price for all league matches throughout the season - and , needless to say , kids tickets must be set at no more than a fiver . Kids have to be indoctrinated into the true faith at an early age .

At present the Rovers are chopping and changing and forever coming up with new gimmicks . The average walk-on punter won't bother reading about "The Card" for example .....even I can't be bothered to suss that one out .

  3. Maybe dropping him from the bench as well as the team might encourage SWP to get himself a team that can offer him a regular place . I have to question his hunger to play at all sometimes . Mind you , watching the game yesterday I have to question whether any of them can be ar$ed to earn their money ... <_<

  4. His all round play has been good - sometimes excellent. The only problem is that he doesn't look like scoring.

That seems to go against his previous record, maybe that horrific looking injury did more harm than we realise.

I've seen enough to discount this bloke ever being a serious force. Not excellent , not good Not even adequate come to that .

  5. I am not a scientist but in my view much as I hope they are right, the climate change-deniers are in the same camp as the Flat Earth Society.

It is an undeniable fact that human beings have dramatically altered the face of the Earth in the last 150 years. About 50% of the tree coverage has gone, there are 10 times more of us and we are the first creature to create a deficit- about 50% of the planet's stored fossilised hydrocarbons have been consumed in the past 150 years. That's the equivalent of having a 600 million year long forest fire covering all of the Americas, Europe and Asia.

The science of carbon dioxide trapping heat is very basic and unchallengeable. The figures for the composition of the troposphere and atmosphere are a matter of data records and historic fact. The climate warming-deniers have to explain why these two simple phenomena are not responsible for the shift in average sea and air temperatures which are also fact. Metatrends in global temperatures are also a fact so they have to explain why a meta rise in temperatures is conveniently happening now to mask the impact of industrial man as opposed to any other time.

In a minimax regret scenario, Stern has to be taken seriously and acted upon. EVEN IF CLIMATE WARMING THEORY IS WRONG, the impact of implementing Stern would be worth it in terms of reduced disease from pollution, protection of bio-diversity and conservation of hydrocarbon reserves.

So I take it you'll not be flying the distances between your two homes ?
