  1. Yep - Plaster it in two parts, a coarse plaster to fill up to a mm or two and then a fine finishing plaster to level off - allow to completely dry before finishing, and remember to wet the wall down to get the best bond before applying

Caveat - I'm an electronics engineer by trade, so you may want to obtain professional advice before slapping any muck on the wall

  2. It was awsome -  and all because of a dodgy bidon on stage 2 curtailing Geraint Thomas's Giro. I'd like to say he breezed passed me on any of the Cols in Mallorca, but in my experience, everyone on the road breezes past me and I wouldn't have seen him as I stared at my stem waiting for the pain to be over. Sa Calobra neary killed me, as did Puig Major, Col de Soller even Formenter. Mallorca isn't a load of fun when you're a fat old knacker.

I may be the only VR connoisseur on here, but regardless I decided to pre-order an Oculus Quest 2. John Lewis doing £20 off with a code... couldn't help myself. I've got a PSVR and the original Rift and love them both, but have to admit it's a pain setting up the Rift. The idea of a wireless headset for under £400 (or under £300 for the 64GB version) was too tempting. Could have gone all out with something like the Index or the G2 Reverb, but I'd probably have to upgrade my PC at that point as well which would make it closer to a £1000 investment.

Release date for the Quest 2 is Oct 13 so not long to wait :)

I'm a RIFT user - mainly for Elite Dangerous, but a few other games as well - Absolutely love it, apart from the massive motion sickness when exploring planets in the SRV, I really struggle with that. That aside VR is incredible for E:D

We went for Norway first time, then the Baltic including St Petersburg last year.

We've a Fijords/Northern Lights cruise booked on the Queen Victoria in October - I'm really hoping that it goes ahead as this is one for my bucket list.

  5. Hi guys - I've tried to embed a couple of tweets using the code provided by twitter, but I just end up with code and no tweet -

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">KARL: So when you promised 4 million tests 7 weeks ago, you were just talking about tests being sent out, not completed?<br><br>PENCE: "Precisely correct" <a href="https://t.co/exxdP7RnB3">pic.twitter.com/exxdP7RnB3</a></p>— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) <a href="https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1254899644330659840?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 27, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

What am I doing wrong ?

  6. The previous June (78) - Myself and a couple of mates roadied for the Jam at KGH, when I say roadied, I actually mean humped and dumped boxes of cables speakers and PA kit around. It was a fantastic experience, the only downside was it was the day before my English O level exam which I duly failed. I can't remember how it came about, but we got to meet all of the band including Paul Weller's dad who I think was managing them at the time, they were all very approachable.

  7. Is that very different from many other club houses and their dress codes - I remember when my nephew played the Lytham Green Drive Open, we'd dropped him off at the course and went to do the tourist bit around Blackpool, when we returned to find he'd won but we couldn't go to watch the presentation because we were not correctly dressed, Plus I'm at work this morning in the City and there's certainly not a smell of sewage here.

  8. I was given an Oculus Rift as my Xmas present - What can I say other than "Bloody Hell!" I play Frontier Elite a lot and the difference between a flat 2D world to the immersive experience experience you get with the Rift is incredible - The scale of everything is huge, planets are now massive, Stations are huge and the entrance to them now seems so big that slotting an Anaconda through them is no longer the heart stopping moment it used to be. Combat is also enhanced as you can now follow targets using your head rather than having to guess where they've gone from the scanner plots, I've not tried many standing games yet as my PC is set up in the dining room and I've not got a massive "play area" available but the one's I've tried so far are a lot of fun. The one downside, which my missus reckons is a benefit is I can't play for as long as before, it's exhausting, you are fully in the game and there's no distractions ( I can't listen to the football on the radio etc. as I could before ) and I find that can be tiring.

Is this actually a thing in Blackburn or is it being grossly exaggerated?

The only time I go to Blackburn is for Rovers and to Soccer Dome...

I don't know about Blackburn, Mill Hill seemed clear of them when I was there the other week but I was in Leeds a couple of months back and the number of addicts in the town centre there was disturbing, I hadn't realised it was spice until I read an article on it and it described perfectly a slow-motion fight between two hobos that exactly mirrored one we had witnessed

  10. and mudguards - it'll only take one downpour for you to wish you had them. Putting soggy socks back on for the commute home isn't pleasant.

The problem with this cycling lark is it can get expensive quickly, I'm constantly buying stuff. It's a good job I'm saving a lot on Gym memberships and train fares.

  11. As far as cheap gear goes, Tenn Sports on Amazon does some nice cheap, functional stuff, the chamois in the bib shorts is OK for 10-20 miles but not much more. If you're commuting every day you'll need several sets of everything, well I do, I'm dripping by the time I get to work. Lots of washing generated. I will be having a look in Aldi though on the 28th.

I got a good deal on my hybrid, buying a 2016 model, rather than this year's at Xmas, and I've now got the bug big time, joining a club, Sunday morning rides, and even sportives - Cat and Fiddle, next month.
