  1. Is it just me that thinks this is an incredible bad and dangerous thing? I remember the last time we had a manager who had a direct line to Pune...

    It depends.

If you think that GB is trying to screw the club over then yes its bad.

If you think GB is the right man for the job then he needs support of the owners whether you like them or not.

In my opinion it is ludicrous to compare what happened with Kean to what is happening now with Bowyer.

  2. They acted on instruction of the manager, JJ carried the can for the poor start to the season.

Are you sure about that ?

I can't see why kean would instruct the owners to sack his assistant 3 days before a massive game.

The timing suggests to me that this was a Venkys decision and the tide is turning for kean.

  3. Just my opinion.

No idea if a bid has been made or not, regardless I would not sell him to anyone in the bottom half of the Premier League as it will just make them stonger. Even if we got £2 million or even £2.5 million, we won't be able to get someone of Benni's quality. I am fan of his so am baised, I agree that he is not the perfect professional but against Fulham he showed that he still he can have a positive impact.

When he is at his best he is one of our best players but his head will be turned now and he will want to leave and he will do everything he can to make the move happen.

I don't think we will see another decent performance from Benni again which is a shame.

    I hope I am wrong.

  4. I think people are being rather blinded by Saturday, Roberts and Benni showed us what they CAN do not what they WILL do week in week out. Benni drove the majority of fans mad when he played regularly last season, always offside, sulking when a pass didn't land at his feet, never chasing the ball down to put defender under pressure, or is it just me that remembers? Yes he scored goals when he first arrived when he looked considerably more interested and in shape.

I agree, when Benni is in the mood he is superb but since Chelsea turned his head a couple of summers back he hasn't been the same player. Its not just Allardyce that has left him out either because he was in and out the team when Hughes was in charge and ince didn't play him much.

You could tell that Benni and Roberts had a point to prove on Saturday but when they start games and they are in their comfort zones they don't seem to have the same impact.

  5. 1) Is he better than what we've got already? - By some distance.

    2) If we were to sign him, does he deserve a clean slate based on what he actually does here? - Imo yes.

    3) Can we afford his wages? Very doubtful.

    4) All things taken into consideration, does he represent too much of a gamble?

Imo yes. Can you imagine if he was our main summer signing on top wages (for us) and got himself sent down again?

I agree with all of those points but what if he was on some sort of pay as you play deal ? i.e. if he is that stupid and does get sent down again or if he is sent of we wouldn't pay him a penny.

Whould you take that gamble ?

  6. Golden boy Gerards another that people have seemed to forgot... Southport springs to mind...

Never mind the alleged rapist from Man City, or when Cantona did his lunge at the fan.

Not saying I support or not support an attempt at signing Barton, it's just that football is riddled with bad boys and nutters isn't it?

you can add the current england captain, woodgate, bowyer and pennant to that list as well.

If big sam thinks he can control him then I think he is worth a gamble.

  7. you don't blame the guy??

He's been out injured for months, we pay his wages, nurse him back to full fitness, then sparky decides that he has to wait a little longer to play him than he would have liked. So he spits his dummy out like a big girls blowse and hands ina transfer request.

As far as I'm concerned - players like that are the absolute worst, as they have no interest whatsoever in the TEAM. We've seen other players who have knuckled down and got on with their job and bided their time - but not for roberts.

I find it staggering that you and many others on here are defending Roberts and slating Benni.

If Benni's game was like roberts in terms of running + but he also possesed benni's skills - he wouldn't be playing for us - he'd be starring for man u, chelsea or liverpool.

Simple fact is - he's never been that type of player, but he is the playerwho can and does score. Give me this kind of striker anyday of the week.

A team is all about having players that compliment each other. If we have a side of grafters - we'll only ever be good enough for mid table medicrity.

All this nonsense about McCarthy not trying - is just nonsense. Sometimes it just go for you as a striker. The things you try don't come off. I imaghine you'll all be singing his name the next time he scores though!

I am not slating Benni but I think Roberts would be better coming off the bench last night. It was clear that we needed a physical presence up front with Santa Cruz, the arsenal defenders couldn't cope with him and I don't think they would have coped with 2 physical strikers up front.

I don't give a toss who is sulking, or why they are sulking, but it is clear that Hughes did not bring Roberts on because of personal reasons and not football reasons.

Why the hell did he bring zurab on in the last 5 mins ??? Shocking decision. Why put him on the bench if he is going to bring on an out of form Benni, a defender and an axe on instead ?

Sell Roberts, but for gods sake bring the guy on if he is on the bench when we need him.
