I don't see why not. I saw a few kids when i was there. You cannot book unless your party is 6 and over.

Best butchers is Ken Bamber at Higher Walton on the way into Preston. Not far from Blackburn.

I went to the Clog and Billycock last night.
Very nice inside, they have a mixture of chairs at the tables for an eclectic look which really worked. Black and white pictures and canvases on the wall of the local suppliers was a nice touch.
Menu - pretty good, something for everyone.
Food - 4 of us dined, 3 had the haddock, homemade chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce - was excellent. The fish was massive and very fresh. The other person had a homemade burger which came with homemade chips, a selection of relish and was served on a large wooden board.
No specials on as it was the opening night. Have a look at the menu on the ribble valley inns website.
Price - Not cheap for pub grub to be honest but it was nice. 4 meals, 3 desserts (homemade ice-cream) and 4 drinks = £80

I went past the Little Elephant last Friday and it was closed at both 8.30 and 10.30 so it looks like it is a gonner. Shame, it was a decent Thai restaurant.

Two years without a summer now in the North West! It is a joke, i think we have had 3 weeks in total of nice weather thus far this year.
No wonder we drink heavily, smoke heavily and are all grumpy bar stewards.
The sun makes everyone smile and everything seem better.

It is next to Yum Yums takeaway across from Manjanas (sp). Just a grotty door leading down to a fabulous restaurant.
I stuck to the menu when i was there and it was bliss but you can ask them to make something you like as aforementioned. But if you cannot find something from 200 dishes, you have a problem.

Where abouts is Duk? Is it expensive, what type of food?
Find it on www.sugarvine.com - it has a menu on and location details.
-
I am an advocate of Duk, awesome food and atmosphere. It's sister restaurant Pond was not as good, but you would expect a few teething problems as it had only just opened.

I went Ocean Palace in Darwen on Friday and i must say it was a total let down. Bland food, poor service, tiny restaurant which looked tacky and hardly any decoration towards an asian influence.
-
Loving having the Clog and Billycock on my doorstep. Good local pub grub within a very short drive. Cant wait for it to open.
-
Oh yes i totally agree we have some good restaurants around here, but none in Blackburn, not a single one!
-
The only restaurants that stay open in Blackburn and Darwen are all you can eat buffets, good but cheap Indian restaurants, buy 1 get 1 free pubs and so on.
Burnley has some nice places though, Fence Gate is cracking. They seem to stay open elsewhere.
-
Has anyone tried that new indian takeway across from Ewood? Few doors down from the bakery i think.

Close this thread! What is the point of it? It will become nasty!
I enjoy Alan Nixon's comments and he also writes match reports so it is good to have someone kind of on our side in the media.
If i ever meet him, i will most certainly buy him a pint or two.

I know it is not a restaurant question, but who knows of a good chinese in Blackburn?
My favourite is Hollytree but they do not deliver and after a few beers, i cannot pick up and am then totally confused.
-
Has anyone tried the chippy at Boundary Mill? It looks pretty decent.
I fancy chippy tea now.
-
Clayton Street - Great Harwood is good.
Hollytree is very good also.
-
I heard that was good! I had a look on their website and they sell some weird and wonderful things.
-
What does that entail? And for what purpose?
btw Been to Cafe Bees a couple of times and it's good. I hope they do OK but....... it is Blackburn rem.
Haha, it entails being dragged around the shops like kevin from harry enfield and the purpose is ......... well im pretty sure you can work that out

Amanda at Goodfellos was a trier and had good ideas BUT eventually she suffered the Blackburn curse where every 'nice' establishment ends up packing in or going tits up. I must say and I dont know why but the clientele seemed to change for the worse latterly too.
Yes she was, nice women too. I totally agree, EVERYTHING closes down in Blackburn. We have no nice pubs in the town centre. The nicest pub in Blackburn is probably the Bulls Head a whilpshire but is far to pretentious.
Richmonds started off well too, and i thought to myself, god this is too good for Blackburn....which eventually it was. But they were charging £9.95 for fish and chips. I think you can make a go of it if this price is right and your food it good.
Cafe beees has is spot on. Fresh, tasty and homemade food at a decent price with nice, modern interior. I hope they stay open. The warm bacon, brie and sweet chilli jam panini is excellent when shopping with the other half after a skin full the night before.
-
Have you tried the Khyber's other restaurant yet, its called Michaels, heard very good reports about it
Is it in Thornton-Cleveleys ?
-
I thought Goodfellos on Preston New Road was a pretty decent restaurant. They would change a recipe for you, add things to it, take things away or add a different sauce and the food was always fresh and tasty.
Shame it has closed down now and been replaced by a AYCE Indian.
haha, yeh the Kyber did not feel the same last weekend when i came out of JK and stumbled across the road. I think i prefer now the Shandar now, it still has the plastic horrible seats, the curry stained smell and is dirt cheap.....and it usually full of asian taxi drivers at 4am.

Vintage,
Do you not have a kitchen in your house?
haha, i like to eat out at the weekend!
