  1. There was a problem with standing yesterday at the match. The disabled supporters could not see and our steward was very upset that the head steward was not sending personnel over to deal with it. There were also other supporters, elderly and children who wanted to sit and had others standing in front of them and impeding their view. As has been said, it is illegal to stand, when will people get this into their heads?

However, it got worse. Shocked when we were told that someone was badly injured, even more so when we found out what had happened. The poor man, who like the rest of us had gone to support his beloved club and ended up losing his life. God rest his soul, prayers and thoughts for all who knew him and were close to him.

Those who attend football matches with the sole intention of getting completely drunk should take a long hard look at themselves.

Greco, can you not send this person a text? If not, send them a card. There is not much you can say when a loved person dies, but to know you are supported and people are thinking of you is some help. Let them know you are there for them, and if they need to talk you are there. The words will come. No person can truly understand the suffering of another as we are all different, but you can try.

Mike, so sorry about your nephew. ((((hugs))). So sad for you.

Thanks to Stoke fans for their posts. We are all football fans after all.

To Rovers fans - please don't let this stop your away support. We need to stick together and show everyone that we are good people and not let the idiots take over.

I was at yesterday's game and I had to stand up to see the match. I bought a ticket for a seat to sit and watch the match but I had to stand. People saying they wouldn't stand if the people behind them wanted to sit is nonsense, as a woman I would be quite nervous of asking some of the more intimdating looking of our fans to sit down. I know I'm judging by appearances which may be unfair but I shouldn't have to ask people to sit when standing through the whole game is illegal. Fans should consider that there are other fans who find it difficult to stand for 45 minutes at a time and should not have to do this.

Personally I think unacceptable behaviour in various forms e.g. standing, racist chanting etc. has been on the increase recently and action neds to be taken to curb this. As someone who just wants to go and support the team rather than getting drunk, joining in racist chants, making obscene gestures at rival fans etc. this is certainly discouraging me from attending away games.

Finally I offer my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of the man who has died.

  2. Unfortunately for Barton, his numerous actions off the pitch ensure he will get treated unfairly. That's life, and it's a web he's woven himself.

For what it's worth, I think Barton will desperately try to cling to his NUFC contract for as long as he can. There's no way he'll get 65k p/w anywhere else.

I cannot imagine that we have £65k per week to pay him.

The tackle wasn't as bad as I expected but it was totally unnecessary. He has only has himself to blame for all this media attention with his previous antics.

Someone mentions the media trying to wreck his career but he doesn't need them he's making a pretty goood job of it on his own.

  3. Its not John Williams' fault. I come to expect that sort of treatment when watching Rovers in Europe. I am not saying it is right however its not the first time and certainly wont be the last.

I know it's not John Williams' fault and I have said that in my letter, however it's wrong that we should be treated like that and people's complaints should be passed to the relevant authorities so that it doesn't happen to the next set of fans.

I've been to eight european away games and that was the most badly organised.

I dont think anyone (apart from Vinjay  ) would suggest it was John Williams' fault.

boris - John Newsham was the Rovers official who dealt with the arrangements, he is your man to contact.

I always think you should go straight to the top! :D

  4. I thought the organisation was pathetic. Where were the direct trains to the stadium? We were told to get off the train at Rotterdam Blaak which was desserted, we ended up on a train full of Feyeenoord fans, some of whom were quite scary.

The stewarding was rubbish and unreserved seating only works if the place is half empty. Luckily we got seats early, I would have been really annoyed if I couldn't see after spending good money to go there. Apparently the stewards sent people with middle section tickets to the upper section so no wonder it was over-crowded.

I have to say that the trains were excellent compared to the UK, we were straight onto the train as we came out of the match and back in Amsterdam in about an hour to catch a clean, reasonably priced bus back to the hotel.

We manged to vist the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum, went for a boat trip round the canals and a walk round the red light district so overall a good trip.

However my letter of complaint about the organisation at the ground is already penned and will be winging its way to John Williams tomorrow.

  5. I'm finding it difficult to find any definitive travel arrangements from Amsterdam to the ground. It's straightforward from A'dam Central to R'dam central stations, but from there is it better (and safer) to change trains to Stadion station, or better to take the tram? I've heard that it is even possible to bypass R'dam Central by using the train via Den Hague. Could any of our Dutch friends provide any advice? I've been to Feyenoord three times before and there was trouble everytime ( including the Dutch Cup final, versus Den Bosch when the game was abandoned 5 minutes before the end due to a pitch invasion!) so I'd like to get the travel arrangements sorted.

From what I saw on the internet it looks like the Stadion station is on train route 11. I think that the station is only open when there's something on at the stadium, I'm assuming that the route 11 trains will stop at the station.

No, but they could at least cut the 5 minutes of pre recorded bull i've altready read online you have to go through to find out that you are no 40 in a queue.

The floating fan could easily decide that it could be easier watching the game in the pub.

I agree 100%. It took five minutes to listen to all the pre-recorded stuff, I was number seven it the queue and it took me 20 minutes in total. If I had known the waiting time was 20 minutes at the outset I would have given up and tried at another time. A twenty minute phone call when there are only six people ahead of you in the queue is pretty poor.

  7. Bit of a cheek, really.  They aren't in the Champions League now so  that 'frees up dates'.  Really?  Big of them, don't you think?  So they can now muck about with our schedule.

I can't see the problem with a 5.15.pm  Saturday match after their memorial service. They are a relatively short distance away, not the other end of the country. This is getting more and more ridiculous.  mad.gif

Bit of a cheek? I think that's putting it mildy, I would call it downright hypocrisy. Playing on the anniversary is ok if it helps their European campaign but now they are out of Europe they want the match moving again. Grrr.

  8. Has it ever happened before, where the prices of an AWAY game, are cheaper for season ticket holders?

    374935[/snapback]

West Ham are charging their own fans three different prices depending on whether they are season ticket holders, members or neither, so it looks like Rovers fans are just being charged the same.

  9. Couldn't bring myself to applaud his when he was subbed on, I can't accept him as a Wanky Wanderer. Gave him a hand after the match though.

Same here, unlike the bloody annoying girl who sits near me who spent the whole game talking about him saying she hoped he would come on and score ten then actually cried at the end. FFS!

  10. Jansen has had 3 years worth of wages when most players would have been sacked on the spot for breaking the terms of their contract by buggering about on a motorbike.

That said, I still hope that he can just scrape through and make it with us.  I'll choose to remember the many good times we had when he was at his best; Cardiff and Preston being 2 of the best moments I have experienced with Rovers.

I don't think this is harsh at all. If I had a accident which left me unable to do my job then I'm damn sure my employers wouldn't carry on paying me for three years!

If Hughes felt Matty had anything to offer he would have given him a chance but you can hardly drop a player who desrves his place in the team/squad to give Matty an opportunity, you have to pick the players on merit.

I really like Matty, I just wish he had never got on that bloody moped but I'm sure he must think that every day.
