You give JDT an excuse of players downing tools and injuries, but then you don't offer that same leeway to Eustace

At the end of the day, they are the same set of players. If you think they were shown a soft side and an unwillingness to fight, why do you think that would revert immediately after John Eustace came in?

He came in during a particularly challenging part of the season really. The games came thick & fast, players were returning from injury which is always a delicate moment and the whole tide was turning against the club. I actually think he has done a good job. The football is improving and we aren't over committing any more. It was never going to be as satisfying on the eye as JDT, who was really trying to play PL level football with players not up to it. It is more pragmatic, with a better understanding of the quality we have at our disposal

I thought JDT was the best coach we have had in recent memory. He wasn't given the tools to really show it. John Eustace is different; he will work with what he has. For some people, that means he is a yes man, but for others it just shows a man that is willing to adapt and earn his living by doing the best job he possibly can with the resources available

He still needs to win the next 2 to equals Appleton's record and we all thought he was an unmitigated disaster.

The jury is still out, we won't get relegated this season but with further cost cutting in the summer, I just can't see him working out and inspiring the fan base. At a stable club and pragmatic club, I could see him doing well.

Because it needs to be a quality appointment far more than it needs to be a quick appointment. I'm sure we could have hired the manager from the Dog & Duck in about 2 minutes. If it's not the right man it's shit appointment work, if it is, it's great appointment work. I'm sceptical for now that it's the latter.

In our position and with Venky's issues I think we needed someone with more experience. Warnock would have been ideal but Alex Neill probably would have been my choice

"Most of his best work goes unseen"

They used to say that about Corry Evans.

I'm far from convinced in the ability of this lot to get Eustace or anyone for that matter over the line within a reasonable time scale. I think it's a bit premature to be talking of models being abandoned at this stage but if the model of selling anything of value that moves were to be ditched I'd be all for it.

I think worse is to come. I don't see the investigation into them being over quickly, they have already found 1 issue so the Indian authorities will go through everything and Modi will use it to show he is cracking down on billionaires.

I sense the budget being cut to around £8-10m in the summer with the sale or release of any player on more than £5k a week. With support from Venky's going down to £3m if we are lucky. So similar to the trust's support all those years ago.

I also expect a 25% increase in season tickets with Waggot saying we can't expect cash from the owners all the time and now is time for us to help them out.

I wouldn't be surprised if MK Dons have a better budget than us in League 2 by the time the end of the summer arrives.

In your meeting Glenn and Josh, were there any comments from Waggot on how bad it could get or was he overly optimistic for the future.

In the absence of any news to the contrary presume slimy twat Broughton will be keeping his head down and will emerge unscathed when someone is appointed by which time another abysmal transfer window and the Mcguire fiasco will be conveniently forgotten?

    You really don't like GB.

I think the DOF model here was always going to end in failure, with Venky's always causing issues. Most of the things Gregg has introduced behind the scenes have been good but they were still only trying to correct the previous 12 years of mismanagement.

With us now going for Eustace it looks like the entire model the club were adopting with a playing identity from the kids team upwards has been jettisoned, so I am not sure it is worthwhile it is for him to stay.

Not being funny but is it beyond the realms of possibility that one of those two could have given the password to another member of staff?

Or do they have to go through fingerprint and retinal scanning James Bond style to log in?

It's possible but League rules state only a Club Secretary or CEO can registar a player, so we'd be left open to a whole load of issues if that had happened.

It's unlikely to be a password system, more likely a passkey or pki based authentication system which only they would be able to use.

Whoopee.  Multi-millionaire relocates for massively-paid job.

So with a level-head - he was a bit of a cup run better than Bowyer and Mowbray?  Surrendered a two goal lead in the Quarter Finals, then capitulated in the league from there on in.

Being the Devil's Advocate - he is the 'achiever' of our worst run in ddecades. He is at the helm of the team with our worst goals conceded in years and years...and the only manager (alongside Mowbray) to have a team in the promotion spots for X amount of weeks and fail to get the play-offs.  The atmosphere is stale, our home form is abysmal...

    Not great.

Have you forgotten Mowbrays runs which were much worse than this.

He just couldn't mould our kids since December. I am not sure what you expect, we have no experience through out the side, no fight and no forwards. Mowbray was always allowed to sign experience, the season we just haven't been able to sign that due to budget cuts.

    According to this, he is

    Mike Cheston - Finance Director

Ashfaq Hasan -  Head of Finance

    * Not sure it is up to  date

If both of your main finance people leave it is never a good sign for a business continuing as a going concern.

The times I have seen this is when something dodgy has happened by the finance team or when you are about to enter administration etc and they are trying to protect their future employment prospects.

No wonder the players agent held off Weds and came back to Broughton on this, what was seemingly a reasonable deal for an unproven prospect turned into a Grabbi style piss take.  He had his pant pulled right down and just agreed to it, no wonder the paperwork didn't get sent.

Food for thought here in regards to GB when you look at the Ennis 4 yr deal  and double wages for a known crock then the Leo signing and fee.

The guy sounds like a right mug and maybe he's the problem and someone down there is trying to stop him agreeing to all these crazy terms.

    Wonder if he's on commission....

It was always going to be high, we had just received the Wharton cash.

In reality he was just getting a forward in till end of season and used Ennis sale to fund the loan. A good deal really.

With Ennis it was a 50/50 low risk punt. If he goes to Stoke stays fit and scores 10 goals towards the end of the season we'd be having a very different conversation. There is talent there, we just haven't been able to harness and develop it.

If Venkys continue digging their heels in then we can only hope that the hearings continue to go badly (for Venkys). We won't have another Wharton to sell come the summer. It'll be c. £8m for Szmodics at best I reckon (what is he, 29?). Carter £5m? What then?

You'd like to think the penny could finally be dropping for them, but I appreciate we've all said this for many years.

Both sold, Gallagher leaves on a free, hyam and tronstad also sold if suitable offers come in

I believe they will be after another 25% budget reduction.

Simply not good enough from Rovers. The lack of communication to the fans is truly pathetic and unbelievable. This McGuire fiasco is becoming soap opera now..

Waggott and Broughton should have held interviews explaining the problems with McGuire transfer and the lack of spending despite Wharton being sold.

We should have invest some of the money in January. Max Bird and Paddy McNair

I would expect they haven't been given permission to do so from Venky's.

So Silvester, who if memory serves me was appointed by Williams and Finn as Football Secretary years ago and worked for years without any issue whatsoever, all of a sudden has lost the ability to complete a deal anymore and it just happens to coincide with the period since Broughton's been at the Club?

    Righty ho then.

Silvester appointed by Venky's. During Williams and Finn time he was Liverpool club secretary.

It's unbelievable that he survived the O Brien debacle. He should have been sacked then but wasn't and look where we are now as a result- twelve months on and something similar has happened again. In that respect the Club have got what they deserved for the lack of accountability.

He's DOF so this sort of stuff is his responsibility. People want it both ways, if Waggott does something awful everyone rightly wants to blame the owners  because it's their name over the door.

The opposite seems to apply with GB though  even though transfer business is firmly within his remit as DOF. Everyone scrambles to try to absolve him for responsibility for matters clearly within his remit.

His recruitment has been shite as well imo. (I know you disagree so let's not run through merits of individual players for the zillionth time.) Suffice to say I think we saw what JDT thought of it with only one of the six available signings starting the game on Saturday.

Not convinced he'll go this time anyway. He'll probably attempt to bull shit his way out of it and come up smelling of roses for a second time.

Say what you like but these O Brien and Mcguire type debacle have only started occurring since his arrival at the Club.

Put it this way, we had to enter a payment agreement with HMRC in Feb which we reneged on.

I think the likelihood is Venky's pulled the plug on the O'Brien deal and to save face we had to do the appeal and pullava instead of admitting we didn't have the money to complete the deal.

I feel like one of the worst weeks in Rovers history is about to unfold before our eyes...

    • Monday: McGuire deal off, he goes back to the US. Rovers once again a laughing stock.
    • Tuesday: JDT gone.
    • Wednesday: Gregg interview, squirming around the questions asked.
    • Thursday: Some pleb put in charge of the team.
    • Friday: Give us a day off from the car crash.
    • Saturday: Stoke beat us. Toxicity levels at Ewood rise.
    • Sunday: Complete and utter dejection.

Sorry for being overly negative but this is how I see it panning out.

Gregg has apparently gone, refused to take the blame for it this time.

We’ve probably miscounted how many work permit slots we had left 🤦‍♂️

As he says chat to Steve, Sunil and the owners, it sounds more like we haven't sent the funds in time to complete the deal or they have bounced?

The latest, as I understand it is that the Wharton transfer came close to collapse last night. That had a knock on effect to potential incomings at Blackburn.
The Wharton deal appears to be back on and close to completion & Blackburn can get on with recruitment

There is a certain training ground loan that needs to be repaid as well as funds to the end of the season.

Max we will do today will be an incoming loan.

But it would allow them to inject funds for transfers in line with FFP for the first time in forever !

Oh but wait.....they aren't allowed are they.

They won't ask the court to send funds until the Wharton money has been used.

What people are forgetting is the stipulation from the court that Venky's have to send through an equivalent amount to the enforcement agency to cover any fines that might be forthcoming. So if they are allowed to send £11m they had to place a matching £11m with the enforcement agency until everything is over.

The sudden cash injection from the sale of Wharton will have saved Venky's £22m to get us to the end of the season when they hope the investigation is over. When it is over they will receive the £13m they have deposited with the agency from the initial branch of funds sent through minus any fines.

Why not? He is Director of Football.

Probably because you are absolving Venky's of all blame.

He wasn't the one to allow previous players to leave for nothing which has hampered our FFP compliance.

He certainly isn't the one who diddled their tax returns putting us in this mess. He had the budget decimated in the summer and had to generate funds to pay bills. To be honest I am not sure they could have done more with the budget than they did. We seem to make a lot of knee jerk reactions on judging players these days.

We have spent ages asking for youth to be given a chance and now we are signing potential and giving youth a chance we are complaining we are not signing the finished article.

The reality is with our wage structure and budget we will never sign another finished article again until we are promoted and will be fishing in the potential and rough diamonds pond with the knock on consequences of them taking time and patience.

That is all down to our owners and nothing more.
