And actually if West Brom dont win today, Monday is set up to be far more of a ‘don’t lose’ than a ‘must win’.  3 points or 1 point wouldn’t make any difference to what we’d need at millwall.

Unless we want to finish 5th and pip Coventry. Expecting them not to win their last game against Boro (lose or draw)…

We are an established Championship club, that narrowly missed the playoffs last season. Sunderland are fresh out of a 4 year spell in League One.

Added to that Van Hecke was here last season, loved it, loved by the fans and popular with the players.

Add to that we have needed a new CB for months and that need has become chronic in the last 2 weeks with injuries to Wharton and Carter.

If he goes to Sunderland it is because they are paying more. Nothing more to it than that.

    Cheers Venkys

According to a dutch newspaper, he is going to Sunderland because they play similar / use a similar formation like Brighton… apparently…

  3. I really dont understand that he continues to play Bell and Bennet on the back positions, a striker on the wing, all not good enough and some out of position. Its so mediocre, it has been for so long and yet Tony wakes up in the morning thinking its a good idea to do so again.

The fact that he doesnt learn from his mistakes and continues to make them over and over again is why he had to go.

Dissapointed in not signing a league one dolloper? Fuck me, hes shit. Who cares.

Im not dissapointed we didnt sign the guy. I am dissapointed in the fact that we have seemingly chased someone for two transfer windows in a row and were not able to sign him because in my opinion we are to reactive in the transfer market. We could have signed Bauer ages ago but in stead we waited and waited, then we decided to wait until his contract runs out and, out of nowhere, he scores the winning goal in the playoffs. Suddenly all kind of teams chase him, his ego blows up a bit and we tell him to “fight for his place” etc etc. Then he decides to move on to where he prob is guaranteed play time. I think we could have just handled this whole situation smarter and it feels like lost time and effort.

  5. This is the exact same situation as last year when Mowbray went to India. He came back and acted like there was no money to invest and suddenly we paid 2.5 million for Armstrong and another ~7 million for Brereton.

Just because he isnt saying anything doesnt mean we havent got anything to spare. Lets judge him by his actions in the market first.

Would have though Chapman would have been done 1st week of Jan after missing out last knockings in the summer.

Same here. I think it depends on boro though and their asking price. They cant be asking too much for a player who didnt feature in their 18-man squad for the past few months and who is on the last few months of his contract. Probably Tony is playing the waiting game here for the price to come to a normal level, otherwise boro run the risk we get him on a free in the summer.
