  1. Eventually in this global market they'll have to bring their prices down in the UK - I think

And when that happens, then clubs like ours will be the first to suffer as the only thing that's keeping us competitive is the SKY deal money - without it and we'll be down in the bottom half of the Championship where some might say we deserve to be with our attendance.

Better enjoy the Premier League ride whilst it's still affordable.

  2. why cant rovers get some sort of billboard either manual or electronic on the embankment bit were the old rovers club used to be opp micky d's and advertise games instead of the poxy one hidden behind the trees and still advertising the arsenal game and one on the road to darwen as well.Just think the one now does us no favours.

Yeah because getting a billboard would be so cost effective, wouldn't it?

Have you ever thought that perhaps the reason the Arsenal fixture is still on is because it was on the same board as the Sheffield Utd fixture?

Can't believe the club didn't get someone to come in with a chainsaw and cut the Arsenal bit of the board off after that game!

  3. Incidentally, if any true Rovers fan wants to see the Liverpool game -

    1) Get yourself a membership for £20 - and the 2 x £10 discount vouchers that come with it - so it's actually free.

    2) Go and buy your BBE ticket.

    3) Bob is your uncle, you are supporting the club you love as a member AND you can plan another trip to Ewood to use your other voucher and enjoy seeing the live action.

    WHAT'S THE PROBLEM??

And not only that, if you have already been to 3 games, you'll get a tenner off aswell with the Card

  4. 2. Nobody has mentioned this but it appears that that dodgy git Warnock <_< in recognising his sides poverty of talent has narrowed the Bramhall Lane pitch! Very difficult for footballing teams to 'play'. The prem should be frowning on this type of tactic.

He's not the only one. Bolton do the same. If anyone watched them in the UEFA Cup last year, they would have noticed there was two touch lines, one 1.5 yards inside of the outer.

I would have thought that's one of the reasons why Arsenal are suffering this season. They're not used to be playing regularly on a larger pitch

  5. The tickets for Everton or Chelsea aren't £36.

They start at £27. Which is a huge difference.

    - But I don't want to sit in the CIS or JW stand, I want the Blackburn end.

Well how about the next time you're trying to purchase a holiday you tell your travel agent that you don't want to goto Tenerife for £190 they quoted but you want to goto Barbados for that price instead.

It's just bloody ridiclous, if you rather spend your dosh in the pub thats your prerogative, but don't blame the club for the having different price categories, or blame the traffic or the McDonalds for shutting the toilet. Just be a man and state the REAL reason

  6. buses is innovative? newspaper advertising innovative?

Ill give you the Mark Hughes phone call, none of the rest is innovative....

Innovative was for the high level of personalisation in the direct mail campaigns (name on the back of the kit, etc) and the crm technology used in the emails and the telephone message.

I would have a look at the ads for other clubs in the papers- just pick the MEN and see Man Utd and City's ads and then have a look at the stuff the club churn out. Doesn't even come close.

I'm surprised at the lack of quality that most (if not all) Prem clubs release. Many of them see the admin side of things as secondary and feel that it's no use spending money on a decent pack when fans will make a purchase regardless of what it looks like. If Coca Cola was to follow that strategy, they would be gone in a matter of months.

    That will soon change.

  7. The only person I have EVER heard say that...

..So what do you believe they do well as part of their mix?

    what do they do badly?

They've been concentrating solely on Rovers recently, and there's no doubt that our club desperately needed the help. The team has had the experience working on campaigns for clubs like Arsenal, Villa, Spurs, governing bodies like the FA and Football League and this could only be good for the club.

I've also heard that both the ST numbers and hospitality figures are up on last year and if it’s true, then it's the first time that has happened for years.

We've seen ads on buses, LET/LEP, personalised direct mails, e-mails, billboard ads and had telephone messages from Mark Hughes. All of which highlight some quite innovative usage of media channels.

  8. My assumptions based on BRISA concerns and what other EPL teams actually do as part of their marketing campaign. You can honestly say that the clubs marketing is up to scratch?

As a Management graduate, I can tell you that Rovers marketing are in the top of the Premier League. This is based on the various activities and channels that the clubs utilises in their marketing mix.

Another club that excels is Charlton.

Infact many other Clubs have looked at our club and in some cases copied some of the stuff that Rovers have done over the years.

  9. but brett, for (Please don't use that word again) sake lad, take them on!!

I noticed during the NZ game that Bowen wanted Reid (who played on the right) not to take the def on but to cross the ball from the right as early as possible.

Also Emerton was brought in not as a carbon copy of Duff (for the right) but as someone who could balance the midfield with Duff having the freedom to take on players.

  10. As a current Marketing/PR student, I would die for the chance to work for Rovers in this particular field. I don't think that the current Marketing/PR department do enough to attract more support for the club. I do admit, as I am not based in the UK, I do not get to see what good things they may achieve.

You're not based in the country yet you feel that the club don't do enough to attract support.

    Classic

  11. if it needs moving move it...

well Im not a whinger but its no wonder we cant attract good crowds if my experience today is to go buy( not season ticket overall or blackburn end).

I rung up today to change my address and guess what (maybe can lee can reason why?) and you cant do it over the phone anbd you cant do it online ,youve got to go and buy paper, envolopes and a stamp.Ive sorted my mortgage over the phone, insurence over the phone my credit cards ,my bank but you cant change a poxy address over the phone.

ROVERS ITS 2006 WE LIVE IN AN ONLINE WORLD AND I DIDNT EVEN KNOW YOU COULD STILL POST LETTERS! ;)

I'm pretty sure you can update it online. Log into your account on the Rovers ticketing site

    https://eticketing.co.uk/blackburnrovers/index.asp

    and change it there.

  12. That may be true , Stu , but only in the short term . We already have a decent family following but if kids aren't allowed to get in for nowt to compensate for the overpriced tickets then the long term future is bleak . Against Everton andf most away teams I don't think this would affect their support (and our gate money) - they're not going to be bringing kids anyway .

I keep banging on about this but I honestly feel the Rovers are very unimaginative in this area . At least they should try it and see . Who knows ?

I'm not too sure that the problem is with kids coming to games, juniors ST are the lowest in the Prem and halfway down the Championship and matchday tickets are from £7-£16 depending on which game. The problem imo is the gap between juniors and adults. Parents usually purchase the tickets for their kids but once these kids become adults or shall I say Young adults, the price for a matchday tickets goes from (£7-16) to (£15-£27) or if you want to sit in the BB end, it's £25-£36 depending on which game you pick. Now when a parent or teen sees these prices, he/she's more likely to use their money on other sorts of entertainment.

  13. What complete toss 78!.....is that what its come to nowadays?

Believe it or not if prices continue at the current rate then there'll be a damn site more 'beggars' than choosers and a lot more empty blue seats around Ewood.

And we'll just have to resign to the fact that we support a team destined for the lower leagues. If it wasn't for the Walkers Trust or the forward thinking and slightly risky strategy of having a higher wagebill than most teams, we would be in the lower end of the Championship.

I agree with you that the prices are getting ridiclous, but thats life these days.

  14. while others have stated that the proces charged are low if you compare other clubs, nevertheless not many people with families to look after will be able to pay that.

Then other fans and the club will ask where are all the lost fans, and before anyone says that the club have to charge high prices for the players to earn the pay that they do, the clubs of all teams have to learn that fans do not have to go and are starting to say stop rigging us off we have had enough.

A and Aplus games have to stop and start charging the same rate

If you can't afford to pay £36, then go sit in the CIS stand for £27. Beggars can't be choosers!

It's a catch 22, situation here. Rovers have done their utmost to make Premiership football affordable for their fans, compared to other Clubs but they can't go on forever, just look at the transfer thread and you'll realise if the fans want £5 tickets, they should prepare themselves for League 2 football and don't start complaining on signing the likes of Kuqi and Jeffers, because without raising matchday tickets, there's no way we can compete with Clubs in signing players like Bellamy, McCarthy, etc.

  15. I agree with Rover6 on this one.

One of the Sven's biggest mistake in the World Cup was not dropping Lampard for Hargreaves, thus givin Gerrard more initiative and responsibility in midfield to support the striker(s)

Had it been Hiddink, Lippi or Scolari, they wouldn't have tolerated that performance from him.

It's easy for everyone to have a pop at Eriksson, noticeable it's the ones that didn't perform that have decided to.

If Lampard or Owen think Eriksson was bad, well let's see what they say about McClaren- the real conman

  16. Brilliant signing, dare I say that we are actually stronger equipped up front than last season. Bellamy leaving enabled us to get Roberts, McCarthy, Jeffers and now this should give us some strength in depth and in McCarthy some respect against European opposition in the UEFA cup.

Bet Mido is enjoying his days training with the juniors.

    Happy days

  17. Oh of course I 100% agree... My comment wasn't aimed at you in any way, just really a statement of we are ahead of Newcastle, and many other ''bigger'' clubs at the moment, and the only way we can stay there is by pushing ourselves to the absolute limit.

It's worked in the past, it's working at the moment and I'm damn sure it'll work in the future.

    Agreed.

We made the mistake in 94/95, we cannot afford to stand still.
