  1. I felt that the entire show was basically about whether Ron is a racist or not and not really about the show itself. Of course they had to bring up what happened but I didn't feel that they needed to spend the majority of the show talking about the one off incident when everyone knows that he isn't some kind of white supremacist. What he did was wrong, he accepts and understands that he was wrong to say it and I hope he gets back into the game because he's a great character and what he's done in football is up there with the best of them.

I didn't watch the show, but I'll take your word for that. It would appear Big Ron is now synonymous with the 'N' word, which is pathetic really. Yes, he made a mistake and lost his job for it, but that was five years ago? People should move on.

  2. Eh? These guys are more qualified to drive than anyone else on the roads. If find them much better and safer drivers than the likes of the usual car drivers who tailgate you for sticking to the limit etc. Grrr...

You missed the point, didn't you?

To call footballers dumb and selfish is no different than calling lorry drivers the same because some are careless - or any other profession for that matter.

  3. A few are thick and selfish. but not all of them. Look at the majority of footballers who help raise money for various charities. The number of footballers that pay a visit to the local hospital to put a smile on a sick childs face. We have a few idiots within the game, I agree, but majority of the players set a good example on and off the pitch!

True that. It's no different than calling lorry drivers stupid and selfish because some are careless drivers.

  4. Regarding Ferguson's ability didn't someone connected with the club - maybe Parkes - place him in the best rovers 11 he'd seen, saying he was one of the most talented individuals he'd seen? Or am I just making that up?

Maybe Tony was having, what we call in the business, a 'Ray Mathias moment'?

  5. If United had taken one of their early chances, it might have been a different game. However, once they went behind they were chasing shadows all night and given a footballing lesson.

Still, there was an apologist for SSN today, saying that Man. Utd "as ever" were gracious in defeat, and perhaps the extra nine games of the season finally took its toll on their performance in Rome. Yes, because I'm sure this pinnacle game - the biggest game in some of their careers - was conveniently one too many. Oh, and the humidity played its part, as well...apparently.

  6. No. A clear headed, strong, leader of men who commands the respect of his teammates is captain material. Best / Gazza / Ronaldo etc etc would never be captain material. Neither in our squad would Tugay RSC or Benny.

    You're missing the point.

'X' player would still galvanise the troops whether or not he is the "official" captain. I think the captain's armband is a little more superficial than people like to think.

  7. If they really want to revitalize European football, they should return to the original set-up. The top two teams from each domestic league qualify for the Champions League, and then 3rd - 6th join the Uefa Cup. They should also remove the round-robin structure of the Uefa Cup and make it a two-legged affair all the way to the final. That's how I remember it, anyway.
