  1. He may not be the player he was but nobody can say even now that Yorke is a better player.

Good Luck Matty wherever you go and I hope you are given the chance to regain your undoubtable skill. You have been one player that I have found has true football ability coupled with commitment for the team.

  2. Tell me herbergee how is Bjorneby shaping with management in Norway. Is Henning Berg playing back in Norway as i know that he fancied management as well.

I think both have the potential to be good managers perhaps at Ewood one day.

Bjørnebye is currently the assistant to our National coach Åge Hareide, what he adds to the team tactially I couldn't say.

Henning Berg seems to have settled for a TV pundit job so far.

Thanks for the information. Has Egil signed a contract at Viking do you know?

  3. Jan, do you hold a personal vendetta against Souness? Are you sure that it's his management of th eclub that bothers you.

What do I hate about Souness??

    I despise his ploy of selling off the family jewels from the club and buying rubbish to replace them;

I despise his attitude towards patently talented players who don't bow to his every wish. Most bosses in any walk of life strive to create harmony within their teams, not disharmony. He seems to enjoy making people hate him

I despise the fact that in spite of his having bought all of the playersin the squad and having lots of preseason games to try them out in he still has not the slightest clue about who should/can play where.

I used to joke that Ray Harford just stuck all the players name in a bag and played them in the positions he drew them out in. I now think that compared to this joker, Harford was actually quite positionally astute!

That's not to mention the tactics. Do we have any? No evidence so far this season or for large chunks of last season.

I also despise his manner in interviews "lady luck" "officials" - get a grip- if he put out the right team trained correctly and using the right tactics, we'd win.

You dont rate him then ?

  4. We now have a complete squad of mediocre players. The one bright light is Jonathon Stead, but he is missing having Andy Coles experience to call on and that is why Yorke has been starting only Yorke is actually finished as a premiership striker. Dikov must take over the role and help Stead and Paul Gallagher who does look a good prospect.

Rovers were unlucky today but at the end of the day we have been beaten by a poor team who are in turmoil themselves.

  5. My opinion? I know that Harry Leyland was very popular. He was the keeper in the F.A. cup final. Likewise Fred Else was excellent.

Roger Jones was signed from Bournemouth and was an England U21 keeper. He gave one of the best ever performances by a rovers keeper that I've ever seen. He kept out Bolton Wanderers almost single handedly at Burnden Park. Any one else remember that.

Jim Arnold was one of the most agile shot stoppers ever to wear the rovers colours.

Terry Gennoe - a legend. Got better and better as the years went by.

Tim Flowers - top man, but possibly not the best keeper. Although took top spot in victory at ewood night. A vital performance in a vital match.

Brad Friedal - Seemingly doesn't have a weakness. Maybe a little earlt to vote Brad as the top keeper ever.

So, I reckon it has to be --- errr, very difficult. Maybe I'll take a little time to pick between Jones, Gennoe and Flowers.

Then again, Friedal and Flowers played at the top level. Does that make them better keepers?

    A spot on post den.

  6. rovers going nowhere with supporters like you

So everythings rosy Eddie. Wake up and smell the roses. Rovers are crap to watch under the present regime and we are ending up with a squad of mediocre workers with no class through the team. Its crap - crap football and crap management and anyone who pretends its anything different must be watching through your rose coloured spectacles.

WAKE UP - WE SHOULD BE BETTER BUT ALL THE CROWN JEWELS HAVE BEEN PAWNED AND WE ARE LEFT WITH CHEAP IMITATIONS.

  7. For those of you who don't like negativity look away now!

    Ditto.

It was rather like waiting over two months for the opportunity to make mad passionate love for 90 minutes, only to have an unsatisfactory quick fumble.

What a flaccid, limp performance in the first half - too many long balls, posession given away too easily.

Like our venerable senior mod Den, I've got serious doubts about whether we've got enough pace and firepower in our attack.

And have we not learnt anything about giving stupid goals away at set pieces?

We did it time and again last season. Same old story this term - poor defensive wall with players not doing their jobs properly.

Later in the match, some more Keystone Cops defending, this time from Amoruso. We could easily have been 2-0 down after the Italian's lack of concentration with an under-hit backpass.

West Brom will almost certainly be in a relegation battle this year, but at least the WBA board are backing their manager with funds in the transfer market in order to give them a chance of retaining Premiership football.

Megson has so far spent £6m on Jonathan Greening, Darren Purse, Scimeca, Kanu and Kuzsczak, and has reportedly tabled further bids totalling £6.5m on West Ham's Michael Carrick and Anderlecht striker Aruna Dindane.

A possible £12.5m to be spent this summer?

All rather different to the meagre 150 grand we've spent on Paul Dickov. But I guess we've got to 'wee with the willy we've got', as Souness is fond of saying.

At the moment our willy seems to be smaller than a postage stamp. No wonder it was such a limp 1st half performance...

De Pedro had one of the worst debuts I've ever seen.  He doesn't look fit and his crossing was appalling.

    Agreed.

Overall summary: CAN AND MUST DO BETTER.

    Correct SG.

Wee with the willy we have got? We had a big willy before Souness started squandering the money on second rate players and selling our best ones.

Sam Allardyce seems to be able to do a lot more with his willy!!

  8. Leeds Utd looked like a team a fan could believe in. Blackburn Rovers look a complete and utter shambles.

A week ago Rovers made Liverpool look like a club who should be challenging the top 3. Before that we made Portsmouth look like good travellers. Is it just a coincidence that it is only against Rovers that these teams ever look like world beaters? Leeds looked poor against Leicester yet looked confident and assured at Ewood. Now, what does the tell you?

It tells me that Souness is a to. . er.
