  1. I must admit that it has come as a bit of shock Jensen leaving and its all very cloak and dagger at the moment but has anyone actually considered that he has gone because he is a shi^e assistant manager. He came from nowhere and say what you want about Kean, but he wasnt his choice and the manager is entitled to work with whoever he trusts and feels comfortable with.

Jensen never really inspired any confidence in me and I remember when he was appointed Paul Merson (not the most relaible opinion I know) saying that he didnt even realise Jensen had gone into coaching.

As usual with Rovers at the momnent things on the PR side are dreadful but I feel jumping to conclusions and instantly blaming Kean for this is a little naive.

My personal opinion is a spanking against City and he will be gone.

Jensen has won the Danish championship with a small club and been assistant to Michel Laudrup with two clubs - one winning an other championship and one almost making it two the euro league final with Getafe.

Still not much of a fan though - but his CV as nr 2 is not bad.

Laudrup is available now as he has just quit Mallorca. If Venkys want polished footie he is a good shout. Not what we need I think but he fits the profile - and he is good at taking players such as hoilet and Olson further - and players usually like him.

  2. Berbatov is simply too good a player to waste away at Spurs only aiming for Europe and Champs league every season, if he has any amibition he'll join united in the summer, plus Jol would more than likely waste that cash he gets anyway. He's looked as impressive as Henry was at his peak in the premiership. As we see Spurs as one of our rivals for Europe, It certainly will help Rovers European aspirations if United get Berbatov!, because without him this season Spurs would be in the bottom half of the table.

He has 9 Assists in the Premiership btw.

no disrespect you as a person - but saying something like that is not right. Henry is on a different level - a true legend. He shouldnt be compared to one good season (a good season for Berbatov aparantly is equal to a mediocre or bad Henry season if you compare stats btw)

ah well - back to Benni. Lovely player in my book. And never mind the alleged lazyness. He is doing what it is all about - scoring goals!

  3. God I dont hope so. Apart from the fact we need a midfielder and Dunn is a Rovers lad there is nothing, nothing, nothing that could argue the sense of paying 2 mills for dunn. Compare that to the 2,5 we got Benni for and you will see how ridiculous the fee for Dunns is!!!

It seems there have been sort of a mass psychosis on this board since Bolton entered the frame. Imean just look at how everyone describes Dunn over the past years on this message board. Nothing suggest that we'd be happy to have him back. Let alone pay 2 mills pound for him.

We are on a tight budget for gods sake. We cant bring in a decent left back for £1mill, but Dunny for 2 is ok? ARGH!

  4. I was playing as Arsenal with no modifications. Just in a standard league mode (not master league).

I have tried as Rovers and although a little more difficult I can still score exactly the same goal.

I'm not sure if its a flaw in the game (hence why I posted), and as I've played more it only seems to happen in the left channel (as your attacking). What seems to happen is that when the ball is played up to your LH CF there is one defender tight on him but a huge space behind. You simply knock the ball past him into the space and your away, as you reach the edge of the penalty area (the keeper will begin to come off his line) hit the ball with a fair bit of power and top right after touch and nine times out of ten it will scream into the top right corner.

Has anyone else tried or noticed this, or maybe its just me thats finally managed to master a computer game after years of trying :D

I find it very hard. I havent played pes5 but was very fond of pes4. I simply cant get shot on target. fair bit of power you say. I just tap the shoot button ultra fast and it still blazes over. in pes 4 you could determine with it would be a hard shot or a placed shot with the way you moverd the stick but i cant get this to work either. Worst part is though how impossible it is to catch computer players when they run. I am playing with barca and not even etoo can keep up with the oposition players and get a takcle in. GRRR. When i do burst clear of the defenders my strikers will always hoof it over. Even if i hold the R2. Any tips. you seem to be rather good.

I am playing on top player level. (but its pretty much the same on pro level

  5. If anyone is struggling for a left back, then look no further than Olivier Deschacht. 1.5m and a bargain!

Had a few good seasons with rovers finished top 4 two seasons in a row. just seems I cant get any further though. U can use McE as left back. He does well enough for m. Or Loan that left back from liverpool (not riise the other good fella). Also frutos is a good striker for cheap money as he will win a lot of headers - I find this important as there are still far too many goals scored from deep crosses. Take advantage of this and put a lot of balls to the far post or center (depending from which side). That will get you some goals.

At the start of the game sign sherman cardenas. turns fab. Also you might be able to get theo walcot at about 6 or 7 mills in the 2nd season.

Also voronin is an ok striker who can be signed for free 2nd season. Woodgate is good and cheap. might be able to loan him too.

If anyone have any tips to get the strikers to put away 1-on-1s let me know. I have already stopped playing the game cos of this.

´So far I have a conversion rate at 1,6 in 10 on 1-on-1s (proper ones where the strikers run with the ball clear of the back line). ARGH. And its benni, eduardo, delgado, voronin, nonda and frutos. Good strikers.

  6. I will say though that it is far too easy. went straight to hardest dif and basically havent lost in 3 career seasons with rovers. And its pretty hard to make money even though you win everything. nothing but ad money for winning=(

so its a 7 because it iasnt fun to play for a longer period. Although it would be fun aganst some friends over beer and pizza...

  7. do you guys play et on ps2, xbox or pc.

I am playing it on a PC and I must say its in my opinion the best fifa I have played. I am a PES guy but this fifa actually keeps me entertained. There are always gonna be problem with fifa games and I agree with the post that said it didn’t feel like football – which is the general idea of these games. The aI is still not good, but I do like the way they have changed the one-on-one situations. Much more realistic and you actually feel like you can score in different ways and not just the “pass on the ground way”.

Ill give it 7 or 8 on a scale to 10 whereas I would give the 2006 WC version a 5 or 6.

  8. Basle and Feyenoord have been respectable champions league sides in recent years, and Nancy will be no pushovers, I cant see where the optimism is coming from.

I partly agree although look at what we could have had. Makes this group look better. I reckon Nancy was one of the toughest in pot 5 but they play a more open and forward thinking type of game than others which I see as a style that is good for Rovers. Feyenoord will be tough! Basel arent what they used to be.

Basically what I am saying. Its an open group and I think Rovers are slightly stronger than the others bar feyenoord who I reckon we are about equal to. If the group is open that means the other teams will take points off eachother and that way we will have a better chance of topping it in the end.

  9. Basel(H)

    Krakow(A)

    Nancy(H)

    Feyenoord (A)

    I think....

    How do you figure?

I was thinking Krakow at Ewood due to the cold conditions during winter and pre draw that huy said something about taking weather into account....

And I am rather pleased with this group. Not a money maker but winable.

Good think we didnt get group C...

  10. The football we saw, in particular during the second half was as good as anything at Ewood for a long time. However reading the qualities today you wouldn't know that. We are still being completely ignored by the press and tv medias. i think we could win the Uefa Cup and they'd still be blathering about bloody Tevez or Harry or some other bugger.

One other thing, I remember some pundit commenting that you can measure the quality of a team by its full backs. Well the two Aussies are as good as anything this season, and who could have predicted that?

WE are the ONLY team (well.. and Wigan)not to be shown on premiership highlights on danish television. The only. And its two weeks in a row now I think.

Even the dodgy tv strams dont have rovers. Not league not UEFA cup. Grrrrrr!

Hopefully they wil come round again as the season progresses and we Rovers continue to show the quality like last year. Towards the end quite a few had to give, although reluctantly, and admit Rovers are a foorce. Not only physical but playing wise as well.

*eck all them pundits and GO Rovers

  11. Alexander Tettey of Rosenborg!!

"...and they are, ahem, currently top of the Norwegian premiership which means he'll be playing Champions League next year...!"

Anyway, I think he's defiitely worth a trial or something!

Nothing new in that... Rosenborg has won something like 11 out of the last 12 seasons... :o

And they have done quite well in the CL in the past - for example beating Real Madrid (before Real went down hill)

  12. I am NOT suggesting anyone should put up links! but does anyone know if it is streamed live somewhere. Been lokking for quite a while know and it seems no one is showing Rovers!!!

If somebody knows of a live stream could you just post a message thats for example saying "its being streamed on chinese channel" or something like that.

If thats against forum rules as well then I am sorry about asking - I just figured that sort of thing cant be...

  13. Exactly. the guy I was thinking of. Thanks Exiled Rover. You dont seem particularly impressed with the guy? Ah well, thats a different discussion.

    Bottom line is

    ---

Nonda is strong, relatively fast and quite skilled. So not bad huh=)

2 wins. Just what I needed to lift my spirit.

Lefts break the the rule and win come thursday.

    Go rovers

  14. He impresses me so far. Or rather... he looks like he frightens defenders with his sheer strenght. If you look at the goal he scored this weekend - how strong he looks hanging there waiting for the ball to arive so he can power it in. Reminds me of a guy strong enough to play tight end or something like that in the NFL (whats the name of that Cardinals reciever that appears to be impossible to bring down? (number 81 I think)). Maybe our US based fans have a view on this.

  15. I am surprised that so many on this thread are predicting Boro 0!! And Rovers X. I mean look at our defence so far… horrible! Obviously I am hoping for a win for Rovers but its going to be 1-2 or 2-3 if we win. Not a clean sheet. It would be lovely “keeping the nil” though and just the thing to really kick start the season for us.

So go on and prove me wrong. I just don’t see it happening. Come back Nelsen – Rovers need you!

  16. On Benni... So far what I have seen is quite good. Granted, I didnt see the shefffield game, but its really hard for a striker to play well when the team is performing really bad. Against Salzburg we carved some chances but imo we didnt play well. By that I mean we didnt look tight (not just the back for - midfield and offence needs to be part of the defending wall) and the passing werent good either. Small misunderstandings here and there. I am not saying it was C**p but it wasnt the rovers we got used to see over the past two seasons.

I think Benni thrives in a side that passes the ball well, plays patiently and the explodes with deep passes/crosses. Rovers can do that. Rovers did that last year. And in order for ROvers to do it again I think we need to start with the basics and work from there - first put a sense of comfort into the side by astablishing the notion that no one is going to get soft goals. When the team feels confident that they wont let the goals in they will play more confidently going forward - and Benni/Jay/Noda/and maybe even Franny will come good. I hope and I truly believe.

Rovers can be a force again this year.

Benni to get minimum 12-15 league goals this year.

Up the rovers - and into the uefa cup proper (league stage)
