Afternoon guys.

Ive read some of the posts on here and must say I know exactly how you feel.  If you read any of the Celtic websites after the 1st leg they were much the same, although maybe to a lesser degree as obviously we sneaked a win.

Im obviously delighted at how we performed.  Was questioning the 3 strikers we played, but it worked a treat as Sutton completely snuffed out Tugay and in turn seemed to snuff out Blackburn.  Must admit ive been very disappointed at Cole & Yorke over the two legs, both have big reputations, but as far as I can see thats all they have to offer - reputations.  But I wont make the mistake that some and I mean some rovers fans did of writing them off on the basis of two games (never mind one!).

Anyway im not on here to gloat, just merely to say Ive thoroughly enjoyed the banter on here, and will regularly frequent it even though our tie is over.  A lot of decent people on here.  No not you Abbey!!  5-0?  That prediction is looking a tad silly now isnt it?

One thing I am glad about is that Larsson scored two crucial goals for us.  Was fed up about him being written off - I think he's now proved he could cut it in the Premiership.

   i wonder how many people feel a bit worried about the prospect of  -hundreds of celtic fans in the town before the match ? it is anybodys guess how many and for how long [ie those with tickets] will be in the town centre. they will know that theres more chance of a drink away from ewood during the day . i went to the game at scum several years ago with celtic-[ i went with my step dad who was born up there in glasgow] and i hope to hell i never see scenes like that night - the violence and missile throwing from the celtic fans had to be seen to believed.the scum fans just did not exist after the first celtic[infantry ]charge then it was just missile throwing at the police or anybody in range. after the game the celtic fans were just on the rampage down towards the town centre, i  even saw them drag a mounted policeman dragged off his horse.the plan was to restrict their drinking  but they came into blackburn before the game  buying large amounts of drink in the offys . so if in town on thurs beware.

As the man who started this thread I can honestly and sincerely say they were not supposed to be smug or snide in any way shape or form.

To be honest Ill not be posting again on this forum.  Most replies are decent, but the odd few are childish and downright annoying, and I for one cannot be ars*d with them, it bugs me too much.

Come on, Pete 1888, I would be slaughtered if I suggested Celtic fans only sing  Y.N.W.A in Old Firm games. Grand Old Team, Dont take my Larsson Away, Cheer up Advocaat, Only one Pierre (last season) Soldiers Song (away) Athenrie - I know the reportoire. I stick by what I said. Everyone knows that a large away support helps the atmosphere - something that's lacking at Ibrox and Parkhead unless it's an Old Firm Derby - There's no doubt in my mind that When Rangers and Celtic play Kilmarnock, for example, the atmosphere peaks with S. the Best and Y.N.W.A and goes quieter from then on apart from the occasional burst of noise.

All this Celtic working out of C beat V who beat L who beat R nonsense reminds me of how Burnley supporters used to justify how they were a bigger club than the Rovers.

Thankfully 1 April 2001 put an end to all that and hopefully 14 November 2002 will silence the Celtic wannabes as well.

Incidentally, Pete1888, ever noticed how teams which score seven hit a barren run afterwards? Its happened to the Rovers every time after we tonked an English Premier League side for seven. (There you are, given you an excuse already-I am very kind)

Only reason I mentioned Valencia game was to point out that we too can play well against top quality opposition, and werent nearly as bad as you lot are making out.  We were dire on Thursday I make no bones about that, but you certainly wont be so dominant in the 2nd leg.  I HOPE!!!!!

PS.  Premiership is not best league in the world, La Liga takes that title closely followed by Seria A, you come a close third however!!  Only people who say the Premiership is the best are English im afriad.  So insular its unreal!!!  

Not that it matters as the Premiership is still excellent regardless.

Under SPL rules you must give a certain percentage of tickets to the away side.  As you say a ridiculous rule, but thats the SPL for you!!!

Thats a bit pish considering the amount of season ticket holders, and didn't one of the Celtic fans on this board say you would sell 100,000 tickets?

Celtic always sell out their end for league games, but we have to allow the away fans a certain amount.  Think its 2500 or so and they only ever bring 500 tops.  Hence the shortfall.  Pretty frustrating as thats 2500 hoops fans who are denied seeing their team, but thems the rules as they say!!

Just went back and read Rangerrovers post, thats not what he said so I was right in my post.

We do want to play Premiership sides, but there is no doubt if we were in there the standard of player we could attract would be much higher and therefore we could become a force.  Our fans are too used to seeing us win by 4 or 5 every week and that was half the problem on Thursday, they were stunned that a mid table Premiership side could dictate the play so much. Celtic were awfull and were not used to seeing that.  Scottish Football is turning into a joke, and I for one am becoming thoroughly bored of thumping teams every week, hence why we want in the Premiership, a fresh challenge.

and yep we did whistle loudly at the end.  We wanted that whistle blown to end our worst European performance in years!!

yes they had an easy run out against what is a very poor aberdeen team, no spirit,no class and totally no interest. the only thing they didnt do was put the ball in their own  net !

Celtic fans you need to get a grip on reality. It was simply a walk over for you as it normally is on a week to week basis, however down here in football reality it is the equivelent on Rovers playing Chorley every week ! Get it.

Roll on Ewood and if you get knocked out then we may get some sense out of you.

A few of you seem a bit touchy when we simply ask how you played?  I never for once insinuated that the level of competition was the same, in fact if you read my initial post you'll see I quite cleary state that.

However I think you must realise that what you witnessed on Thursday was an extremely inept performance by Celtic.  You seem to think this one performance now means you will thump us at Ewood.  Last year we played Valencia off the park at Parkhead and went out on pens, now if im not mistaken this is the side that have torn Liverpool (top of the Premiership) apart twice this season.  Celtic arent that far off the pace and im sure we'll show that at your place.  If you beat us by 2 and go through then fair play to you, you'll have deserved it, but be under no illusions that it'll be nearly as easy as the 1st leg.  We couldnt and cant play any worse.

Yes us playing a Premier League side about your equals and not scoring 2 days after a European tie is indeed concerning, especially when you compare it to the thrashing that you handed out to whoever you played. No wonder you play on Sundays a lot of the time, standard of opposition and all one might say its quite apt.

Celts won 7-0, however im not trying to compare the standard of opposition.  Noticably O'Neill rested/dropped both Lennon and Lambert and gave Big Bad John a start, who in turn notched 4.

Not getting carried away but if O'Neill can see the light and drop Lennon then the 2nd leg could be a whole new ball game.  After all thats 180 mins with no goals for the Rovers and we played utter cr*p yet still scored.

PS.  What did you guys make of Bobo Balde?

Yep, the Joos-Joos-Joos thing sounds identical to monkey noises, but I can assure you they werent.  If you look back im sure you'll find it was Valgaeren that had tackled Cole, hence the chant.

oh, so the atmosphere's flat now is it. See i'm sure all you scots have been on this board for the last 3 weeks telling us how loud it will be and how rovers fans would not believe the atmosphere.......

I was extremely dissapointed in the atmosphere last night.  I admit I was one of those saying it'll be a tremendous atmosphere but it just didnt happen.  Reason for that is that for large periods there was nothing to get excited about.  Credit to Blackburn for that as ive seen a lot of teams come to Parkhead and struggle - Juventus, Valencia and Porto to name a few and none have kept the ball for as long as Blackburn did last night.  Now im not for a minute saying you are better than them, but what I am saying is that Rovers caught us on a bad night and played very well themselves.

I know its easy to say Celtic will be better in the 2nd leg, but I do honestly believe that.  If I were a rovers fan Id be worried about your inability to creat chances despite having so much of the ball.

Bottom line is Blackburn outplayed Celtic last night, but at the end of the day Celtic won, and reading between the lines the rovers fans on here are panicking about their lack of cutting edge.

Read an earlier post that rubbished 14,000 coming down to Blackburn.  That will happen, but obviously only 9,000 or so are going to get in, but we will be noisy.  Parkhead is like a morgue at home, but away from home its non stop singing wherever they go.  This however is hardly going to decide the tie.  Larssons goal may do though!

Blackburn were noisy, but to be honest the 3,000 travelling Inverness Caley Thistle support were louder the week before so dont get too carried away!

Im quietly confident weve weathered the storm and will win through in the end.  Possibly on away goals.

And as for your comments about Tugay, don't be stupid. He single handedly dominated your entire midfield; Rangers reject? He's slightly better than that.

Im afraid he is a Rangers Reject as he couldnt get a game for them - thank god is all I can say as your right he did dominate our midfield, but that wasnt hard.  Ive argued all season that Lennon is past it and far too slow - even I couldve dominated against him.  Fair play though he did run the show and will get the credit it for it.  Dont foll yourself into thinking hes a worldbeater though just because he could outrun a 31 year old overweight and past it midfielder.  

The 2nd leg will be a totally different game.  Dont judge Celtic on one totally inept performance as we will be better in the 2nd leg - after all we couldnt be any worse and at the end of the day we still won.

Alright guys?  Celtic fan and ive been posting all week on this site, so thought it only right that I came on and gave you an honest opinion after being at the game last night.

Daylight robbery.

You played us off the park bar a 20 minute spell in the 2nd half and had we been 3-0 down at half time we couldnt have complained.  Our midfield was a mile off the pace and our defence a bit dodgy.  Wouldnt blame Sutton & Larsson as they had no service whatsoever.  We couldve had Rivaldo and Ronaldo up there and it wouldnt have made a jot of difference.  Dire.

All I would say is that Celtic will never play that poorly in the 2nd leg and despite all the fancy football in the middle of the park you never really had an end product.  Douglas wasnt really tested for the whole 90 minutes and if I was a Rovers fans Id be very concerned about that fact.

The atmosphere last night was poor to say the least.  Hats off to the way Rovers played for that.  Had Petrov scored early on it wouldve been a different story.  Must admit from a personal point of view I was sitting waiting for you to thump us, but that never materialised and at half time I did have the feeling we might sneak it as Rovers had squandered so many chances in that first half.

Bottom line from a Celtic point of view is we cant go out on away goals now and im happy with that 1-0.  Ewood Park will be an entirely different story and the fact that every Rovers fan now thinks the 2nd leg is a formality will work in our favour.  Believe me guys Celtic will be 100% better down there.
