A before and after picture of a road that was virtually split in half down the middle was shown on TV this am. It's been completely repaired and shows no trace that anything untoward ever happened. I must say an opinion that I've held since the earthquake is that the Japanese people are remarkeably resiliant and probably even more so in a crisis. Without being disrespectful and skewed as it sounds this disaster couldn't have happened to a nation better equipped for recovery.
