Blackburn Rovers (3) v Rochdale (0) - Women's Premier League Cup - Group 1

Rovers won the opening game in Group 1, with a passing master-class, as Scott Rogers young side were only prevented from getting 6-7 goals, by the world-class performance of Wales keeper, Nicki Davies.

Rovers were on the front foot, from the off, with Lagan Makin forcing a save from Davies. Rovers patient passing game was creating chance after chance and a hand-ball gave Rovers a penalty.

England U19 midfielder, Lizzie Ince stepped up, only to see her spot-kick brilliantly saved by Davies.

The pressure on the Rochdale goal was starting to tell, with Kim Turner being picked out by a superb pass by Katie Anderton. A composed Turner struck a superb volley to put Rovers 1-0 at half-time.

The second-half continued with Rovers continuing to pass the ball about and a deserved second was scored, when Danni Sheen won a penalty.

Centre-half, Nicki Twohig stepped up to take the 2nd penalty, thumping it home. Skipper, Hannah Forster rounded off a great performance from Rovers with a third.

Rovers controlled the game from start to finish, being driven-on by the return to form of club legend, Katie Anderton.

With Rovers being one of the only teams to have a passing style in the Northern League, the future is very bright for Scott Rogers young squad.
