  1. Was wondering if anybody knew what was going on with Jansen? Is he fit? I noticed he got a bit of a run out against Leeds but nothing prior to that. He wasn't on the bench against Chelsea either.
  2. Get in! At least they Bournmouth can't sit back now, we should be able to win quite comfortably with an early goal. Wonder goal apparently. Can't do owt about them...
  3. Get in! At least they Bournmouth can't sit back now, we should be able to win quite comfortably with an early goal.
  4. Being rested presumably. A strong team yet quite a few players rested, it shows the strength our squad really. Good to see a balanced 4-4-2 and players playing in their natural positions. Be interesting to see how Douglas does in his preferred CM position. I think he's got the right qualities to be a decent enough holding CM.
  5. Gamst is apparently very much both footed. He didn't start using his left until he was 15 but now it is his more dominent foot. According to SSN anyway. Wonder if he can teach himself to win penalties...
  6. He'll start off well - bag a few in his first couple of matches (everyone on here will be up in arms saying we should have kept him ) then fade away and end up with 9 for the season. Also it was mentioned on sky that he was bought for an undisclosed fee. I realise this still could be free but it seems way may have got something for him after all.
  7. Cole realises that he is no longer the player to be able to command a salary in line with what we are (reportedly) paying him. If you were him would you announce that you wanted to leave the club just before you were to earn £250k for sitting on your moody arse and doing nowt for 8 weeks? Wouldn't be very clever now would it. The timing of this suggests to me that the situation is of Cole's instigation, not of Souey's. If Souness wanted him out surely he would have said so earlier in the close season to give him more chance to line up a replacement. He will realise himself that we can't go into the season with only 1 provenish (Dickov) and 2 unproven (Stead and Gally) strikers to chose from. His experience of the game goes back 30+ years. If we can see it as supporters do you (collective you - not just Revidge) not think Souness can? Don't be stupid. The only time Cole has earned his money for Rovers was the half season after we bought him when he had a terrific partnership with Jansen (to those who are blaming GS for the size of the transfer fee it was paid back with interest over these few months). Cast your minds back 2 years and remember how excited everybody was about the Yorke signing. This partnership was going to be better than the SAS. It wasn't. It wasn't just Yorke who disappointed either. Cole has underperformed consistently for the past 2 seasons and it was only after Souey (could say it had the desired affect) gave him a rocket up the jaxy that he slightly bucked up his ideas. His work rate improved but his goal scoring didn't. There are 3 absolute stinkers that stick in my mind from the tail end of last season that cost us points and could have ended up costing us a lot more (Southampton, Bolton and Leeds - all at home). A striker on his wages should not have missed. You can forgive the odd one but not so many. Although no one can argue with his goal scoring record, as Glenda famously said it his is goals to chances ratio that lets him down. He has become a bad influence and a disruption. Its time to cut our losses and get rid.
  8. Too true matey, like all of us Souness (salary £2 million plus) has to do a bit of moonlighting to help pay the mortgage and a few extras for the kids. Thats not the point though is it? People are saying that he should give it up and concentrate on Rovers. My point is that the amount of work he could be doing for Rovers in the evenings is somewhat limited. If it was the case that he was on Sky instead of meeting Nicky Butt and his agent (hypothetically!) then fair doos. But its not likely now is it?
  9. Should he spend 24 hours thinking about Rovers? Should he be sorting out the back four while he's on teh crapper? Didn't say all the time Bryan - just to concentrate more on the problems we have- which in all essence is what he is paid for. Souness - no doubt gets a good salary from the club for the job he is paid to do - it can't do him any good at the moment if he is here, there and everwhere attending other commitments when there are more urgent matters to hand to deal with. As I have said, Souey 'is da man' to sort and he will , I just think it will help if he becomes a bit more stubborn and selfish(if he can) and gets the players doing what they should be doing - and if that means more training then so be it (whatever that is they do in training!!) Yeah but in all fairness what Rovers work can he expected to be doing at 7pm every night? Most of his work has/should be done on the training ground. Fair enough he could be expected to make the odd phone call here and there, checking on players availability but apart from that? I can't see any problem with it myself.
  10. They didn't spend £7m on a midfielder but they did spend £7m on a striker in Tore Andre Flo and also £4m + on Marcus Stewart. Add that to the players such as Phillips, Mccan, Gray and Sorensen and they did have the basis of a good team. How can Souness be blamed for the result yesterday? The fault has to lie with the players. We had enough possesion to win 3 matches let alone 1. Our strikers missed easy chances and you can't blame that on Souness.
  11. I'm in. We should maybe go to one of the online betting sites and all put a fiver in and then winner takes all.
  12. Should you really be sharing your teams with everyone? Surely its a competition.
