  1. Brilliant from England, well done that groundsman. :) Shame about Anderson, could just gave been pushing hard, but bowling round the wicket and trying to avoid running down the track on follow through puts a lot of stress on fast bowlers.

Was not worried about our bowling even after the 2nd test. Matches don't last 5 days unless you can bat and that is were we are weakest.

Lyth, Bairstow, Butler and Stokes frighten me to death and changes need making even though we won. Lyth needs shooting (figure of speech) let alone dropping after playing hugely irresponsible shots and Bairstow is already proven technically deficient at this level.

    Good performance by England.

    Bell back in form.

    Finn's bowling was superb.

Let's go and win the next test.

Will Australia make changes? Clarke out of form, Voges struggling? Stark not bowling well enough? Haddin to come back in?

I would bring in Mark Wood for James Anderson now he is out of the next test match

Finns bowling was superb Chaddy. Credit to the lad after being described as unselectable by Giles in 2013. He's worked hard at his technique and his successful return helps minimise the loss of Anderson to a degree.

  2. There is nothing interesting about that turd . Very rare I want any Brits to lose but I hope he gets humiliated

I don't. Anticipating a good fight and hope he wins.

Fury is a lot better than many give him credit for. Bummed about early in his career but has knuckled down now.

  3. Cook leading by example again!

Top player is Cook. If not also burdened by the captaincy and his dalliance with the one day thrash-abouts he would be one of the few averaging over 50 in tests for sure. Opening the batting against the new cherry when the bowlers are at their strongest. One of the best we've ever had.

He's out now. Amazing dismissal!!!! I was once caught at mid-on off the forehead of forward short leg. True story. Forward short leg went straight to hospital. I went straight to the pavilion.

  4. Not convinced on the bowling to be honest, think Jimmy is struggling unless the pitch is set for him.

Batting wise already said we could have changed 3 of the top 5, just not convinced that we have addressed that. Not sure Bell needed moving up the order either.

Still, given its likely to be overcast the first couple of days at least, with the possibility of rain breaks, i think the toss will be important to win and bowl.

Happy with the bowling Baz? Come on England.

It's a good venue for us. Yes the toss will be important but either way without runs we will struggle. Rogers, Smith and Clarke are top drawer and we won't knock them over cheaply too often.

Finn might be recalled. Wood is struggling with a knock. Quite like Wood although 1 for 131 won't have cheered him up in the last test.

  6. Anyone can run their mouth off outside a ring and there's plenty who do. Take a look at Shannon Briggs, absolute nutter. Fury is a comedy act he's done nothing of note in the ring yet. You can respect 'character' when it's backed up by deeds. I do think he has a chance with his awkward style and maybe Wlad is starting to go backwards. If he brings his A game though it could be over quickly.

Fury doesn't seem the most mentally together person and when it comes to the night and he realises what he's faced with in the ring and the hostile crowd I reckon he could fall apart.

Shannon Briggs :) Comedy gold. Took a really hammering against Klitchko after hounding him for the fight. Briggs chased him (klitchko) harrassing him in a boat when out water boarding causing him to fall off. Nutter. Could take a punch though and had some power.

Hope Fury wins the fight. 3 inches taller and a longer reach. Switch hitting and more mobile. At least size wise he matches up. Interesting fight.

  7. We need a pitch that helps our English bowlers. We need to take 20 wickets to win the test match.

Looking forward to see Bairstow playing test cricket again and hope he played the short ball much better

Our bowling is fine. Missing a quality spinner but the seam attack is decent. Any pitch prepared however will also help the Aussie attack. They just batted much better than we did in the last test. If Haddon takes the Root chance in the first test at 40 for 4 we may be 2 zip down anyway.

Need to sort the top order. Can't keep revovering from 30 for 3. Need a decent foil for Cook opening and batting Bell at 3 and Root at 4 sounds stronger without Gary Ballance. Bairstows got technical problems playing across the ball to anything fast and straight and he will be found out again. I would bat Ali at 5 and Bairstow at 6 if selecting him. Or better still just pick Pietersen at 4, leave Root at 5, bat Bell at 3. Cooks averaging 60+ this year. Root 50+ i think. Need Bell, Lyth and Bairstow to make runs or we will struggle to make 350.

  8. Sad news

Was he the same roverthemoon that used to post on roverstalk?

    RIP Geoff

No. He posts on here now. I'll let him reveal himself if he wishes. I didn't know this gent. Sad to lose a Rover / board member. Rip.
  9. That will change IF you go your own way, how long will it be before you will need a bailout?

Bonnie Scotland, land of the midgies more like

Remember when Ince said it was Men against Boys when United played Celtic? Hordes of the great unwashed descended on Rovers message boards and wouldn't leave for weeks.

    Anyway, Boltons debt.....

  10. Well it has been quite a while since we had a good laugh. About three years or so. Seems like another giggle may however be brewing and recruiting this no-mark would rank high on the list of Venky underachievements. Let's hope it is all hot air.

As to somersetrover thinking the guy is more suitably qualified than Bowyer or roughly a million and one others, best think again!

  11. We used to sing a different one in the 80's as well.

Were gonna fly over Burnley as high we can,

Show each other the way that they ran,

Ask the pilot how high can he go,

The s..t on the b.......s below, below.

For me, I have always been disappointed that we don't have an anthem particular to our club. Stoke, West Ham, Liverpool and others...when they sing their anthems and all join in it makes the hair stand up on your neck.

Going down the Bolton Road is probably our 'go to' chant, or somebodys 'blue and white army' for the masses, but others sing both of these with different wording so it is hardly exclusive to the club.

Anthems take years to integrate and become accepted and universally recognised. If we could create one now, our kids and their kids would have it for them to enjoy, something exclusive to the Rovers. But that is where I reach a full stop.

Any thoughts? Maybe something from days gone by, long forgotten. Our current chants are uninspiring and we need something that everyone is happy to join in to.

  12. You are being sarcastic right???

    OK, You're one of those!

(onto the ignore list you go, along with you're selective memory and condescending arrogance).

Yeah I'm one of those that can think for themsleves and doesn't follow sheep like. What are you?

Ignore list? Deary me, I'm wounded and won't sleep well now tonight!

  13. that actually is the precise issue!!!,

and he has shown he can do a good job, "cant run"- 50% of centre forwards cant run well(he scores when given the chance, thats all the matters), you just seem to have a narrow minded view of what a centre forward should be like(its the FM effect). I imagine you would like a team full of Theo Walcotts(he's just a pampered athelete,he can run all day long but has the footballing brain of an hampster)

FM effect? Is that some little boys computer game? Pray tell when has DG shown he can do a good job?

50% of all strikers can't run? Ok mate, I will leave this conversation here as that is a bit silly to say the least. Imagining you know what I think is also childlike.

Like I say if you think DG is the answer, then bully for you, but I seriously beg to differ and the fact he has contributed so little at anytime since he came to the club tells its own story.

  14. Theirs some narrow minded hypocrites on here, some of the comments above slating Goodwillie are pathetic and completely non-football related, hes just a young lad whos been in a few scrapes when he was playing in Scotland, since moving here hes been as professional as any other young footballer, and when he gets game time he usual looks dangerous and lively(or at least more so than any other centre forward we have!), there is no reason on earth why Ediniho was picked ahead of him it was a totally disrespectful decision by scumbag kean(which is where all the blame should be going).

It is a basic requirement of professional football to be able to run. Is that football related enough for you?

The issue isn't whether he is any better than Edinho... The issue is whether he is any good at all.

Fan judgements on the abilities of our players make me laugh. The playing quality of our squad has been downsized in all areas and DG is just another example of that strategy. Baby-lining, head down striker that needs the whole team working hard to fashion chances just for him, while he waddles around bemoaning the quality of passes.

The simple reason others get picked ahead of him is because they can run and for longer than 15 minutes as well. Yet another unprofessional chancer getting rich at the Rovers.

  15. If Goodwillie is the answer then I am not sure what the question is.

When pointing the finger, it is worth remembering that three fingers point straight back at you. Maybe watching his diet, getting 100% fit and avoiding late night brawls would have done his chances more good at the Rovers.

When you think of the great strikers we have enjoyed watching at Rovers this last decade or so, to be lumbered with this classless fool is testimony to where the club is up to at this time, downsizing quality in all areas.

Let him go, he won't be missed.
