Its depressing that the first thought is the financial benefits though.

We are football fans, to win an FA Cup would be something that you remember fondly for the rest of your life. It likely would never be topped in the next 50 years.

It would be better financially to get promoted, however theres nothing to suggest the owners would suddenly be willing to sell up. We would likely go up and back down and would be better off financially (or at least the owners would be) but does that outweigh the memories of winning the FA cup?

Every game isnt a cup final in the Premier League. If you was to win at home to Palace, it wouldnt feel half as good as winning a cup final. Even if we won at Old Trafford it wouldnt.

Possibly, I just think the owners might receive an offer they could stomach if promoted and cut their losses. But nothing makes sense in Venkys Rover land so who truly knows.

    In theory.

In realty Venkys will pocket the extra millions to partly off-set their" debts", deny us any chance to stay up and pocket the subsequent parachute money till it runs out.

Always back to square 1 with Venkys.

    (Sorry Biz)

Possibly but i think we getting to crunch time. I might be wrong, but nothing lasts forever.

Exactly. They wouldnt swap that FA cup which they will remember forever as the pinnacle of supporting their club just for another season on the gravy train. You arent going to tell the grandkids about that season you avoided relegation.

Aa a professional football Club you represent yourself to the best effect every time you play. I hope we win against Wolves 10-0.

However, winning promotion gives us the chance to secure the clubs future in many ways for generations to come. Plus the chance to get rid of these owners.

Every gane is a cip final in the PL and the financial benefits of promotion far outweigh some temporary enjoyment in a cup competition.

  4. Eustace said there was money available. Eustace said he wanted experienced Championship campaigners. Eustace said he wanted pace outwide and upfront. Eustace said he wanted some quality and more of a threat in front of goal. Eustace said he wanted proven re-inforcements to give the group a lift.

Six new players brings a lot of drive and positive energy to the team. It will create healthy competition, cover for injuries, change the dynamic and inject belief.

It's largely a short term strategy, but im ok with that. Sixteen cup finals. A large number of these players and possibly the manager, won't be here anyway if we don't achieve the play offs and win promotion. Just focus on the opportunity we have here and now.

Could we have done more? Of course. As could everyone. But at least we have given ourselves a chance and i'm pleased for Eustace and our stand out, star performers. They have given everything this year.

We are better than we think. We have been a well kept secret all year. The standard is relatively poor. Can we keep our nerve, can someone go up a gear, or can a new signing make the difference? We need 10 more goals from somewhere and to remain miserly in defence.

At this point, surely criticising Venkys is basically just stating the obvious to the football community. A bit like announcing footballs are round.

I'd expect most other club owners would fancy themselves to be considerably better owners than Venkys and not come in for the same treatment.

Who are all these brilliant owners you reference? The only clubs above us are either awash with parachute payments, or Sunderland averaging 38,000 each home game.

Don't mind Danns, but again a loan player, that will return to his parents club. It's rinse and repeat stuff with this club.

I don't see the problem in getting loan players in. Makes perfect sense to me. We need quality and we can't afford to buy the quality we may acquire by way of a loan move.

We are not planning for the next three seasons. Its all about getting in the play offs this season. We need to focus all of our energies on that short term target and hope for the best.

Asking if a corner routine is 'woke'! This bloke needs to have a word with himself.

I like to see some variation on our set plays.

Anything that takes the defenders out of their comfort zone and affects their concentration is helpful. No defender wants to be stood there for a corner.

Older fans will remember the Brotherstone corners to the near post, Faz flicking it on and Garner nodding in at the back post. Very hard to defend against, normally resulting in another corner, the ball headed back to the corner taker, or a flick on into the danger area.

His official name is Guere (who?) - that well known typing error

The lad has scored 3 goals in 27 games which is poor but his all round game is visibly improving - but then it needed to. He's aged 27, so he's hardly in the "promising" category. What we see now could be as good as he gets

He's back for every corner and every free kick.

Two are marking him for every set piece.

    He has had zero service.

Hes knackered after 60 minutes as he has very little support.

Hes been settling into a new league, new team, new location, new country.

All the attackers on our books have a similar record.

He plays in a system were defence has been the overriding priority.

If strikers are judged purely on goals you are of course correct. If you care to think it through its no suprise hes now improving.

Some folk on here may have given Gueye ‘stick’… I.e. ‘I don’t think he’s very good’.

I imagine between the Dingle sending off and Christmas many at games thought the same, but you’d never know as they got right behind him - just like they did with Ben Brereton (for years).

Proper supporters here and don’t let anyone tell you different.

You win and lose as a team and I choose to avoid criticising our players. Especially when they play for the shirt and give their all.

Players need time to bed in following a move and feel part of the new set up. I've high hopes for the lad for the rest of the season. He's getting better and better and at last being given some service.

We certainly need Gueye, Ohashi, Dolan, Hedges and Cantwell to go up a gear. The defence has been brilliant for the most and it's time the attackers gave them a breather.

I like this manager and these players a lot. Irrespective of their individual abilities.

  10. Hedges and Dolan got a lot of criticism in the first half of the season. Meanwhile we were in the play off positions for most of that time.

Hedges and Dolan getting a lot of criticism again today. As we go back into the play off positions.

Let's hope they get slagged off all year. And we coast into the play offs with them starting most weeks.

Congrats to all involved today. Really pleasing win after a tough January.

For every day that goes by without any confirmed signings, the more likely this transfer window will end up in a complete disaster. One can only hope they announce someone later tonight (Kargbo?) like they did with the Sanderson loan but wouldn't count on it. Even if the club does a bit of business this late on, they've already played six league matches in January and has dropped valuable points in the play-offs race solely due to inactivity/lack of strategy in the transfer market.

Sanderson was clearly Eustace's pick as they probably knew by then that McFadzean was leaving. Forshaw was clearly a panic move (recruitment team pretty much calling every Championship club to see who's available at a low/no cost) after Baker was recalled. When injuries started to pile up (Pickering, Travis, Tronstad), no one even reacted or backed the team with loan signings for temporary cover. Would seriously doubt if Waggott has any clue which players to look for, and Gestede doesn't remotely have the experience or connections that John Park had. Adam Owen? No idea.

It's an absolute shambles that the club will (most likely) try to sign players on Deadline Day when they could very well prove to be a determining factor as to whether the team can push on for a top-6 finish or collapse all the way to mid-table or even further. Especially considering the fact that Szmodics was sold for decent money with the team being in desperate need of (quality) attacking reinforcement ever since. I would argue the following play-off rival teams have gotten stronger squads due to their winter transfer activity: Middlesbrough, Norwich, Sheffield Utd. and Sunderland. You can also make the case that Coventry has a stronger squad than ours and are likely to climb further up the table as well now that they are on a good run.

Players and head coach are once again left without backing yet no one seems to care. However, it's still expected that fans are to be 'grateful' towards the owners and continue to pay for tickets with their hard-earned money to support the team without getting anything back other than watching a club in decline. Just sad really.

A poster on the Plymough forum said Forshaw was on £ 12,500.00 a week and they were glad to be shut of him.

Not sure how true, or how much we might be paying him.
