Ange to Spurs. I never would've believed anything like this could happen to an Australian manager. Good luck to him. Just hope he hasn't bitten off more than he can chew.
-
Yeah, I've used it for personal stuff and also for Marketing copy for work. I showed it to my manager who couldn't believe the results for what he asked it. He said you're actually stupid if you're not using it. I hadn't told him I had though. 😆

I've actually started to get into the Betfred Super League. They've been televising it on Fox Sports here in Australia. I used to support North Sydney Bears in the ARL, but once they were merged with Manly after the advent of the Super League war in Australia around 1997 I stopped following the game. Great atmosphere, which I expect no less from you guys over there!

Apparently sustained heavy drinking over a number of years can also cause it.
As can bad uncontrolled acid reflux

RIP Bernard Cribbins - one of the voices of my childhood, who has passed away at the grand old age of 93.
I still haven't forgiven my mother for giving my plush Womble toy away when I was a kid. Being from Australia, I don't even know how it got there!

When you’re having a new baby would you really like to be in a foreign country with only a slight understanding of the language and a country away from the usual support staff of your families ?
Well there are English language schools that teach to the British curriculum in Seville, if he stayed there long enough.

With all due respect, that's piffle
Very true. I lived in Greenwich for a short time, it was a nice part of London. Stayed in Melmerby in the Yorkshire Dales. Would move there tomorrow if money was no issue. We could make a killing on our house, but how that translates into buying in the UK we will see. Anyway, it's just a thought at the moment. We have had some of our best friends move back to the UK, so naturally my wife is talking about it.

Lots of lovely places. Anywhere in the Ribble valley, though property can be expensive.
Thanks. I'll suss some areas out. That way I'll have a dossier of places not near home 😉

Wifey has been sounding me out about a move back to the UK in the future. Now I don't want to move to Sheffield, where her family live. I'm familiar with some areas in the Peak District that are close, but no too close to Sheffield. But what are some nice quiet areas in East Lancs worth considering?

He played with a 35% fear in his Achilles? What a load of nonsense - I have had strained Achilles and could hardly walk, even with painkillers and anti-infammatories.
Exactly. He's full of it.

There's some talented youngsters at Ewood at the moment. The last game of the season against Birmingham City saw two goals of the season for rovers Buckley from nearly 40 yards out then Diaz a beauty curled in the top corner. With a new manager in place and 1 or 2 of his own signings i will be disappointed if we dont make the play offs at least. Hope you can make it over for a game, probably a bit costly from Aussie to Ewood.
Wife is from Sheffield. So we try to visit every year or so. That was pre-Covid and children though 😁

I may be the odd one out, but I was kinda hoping Everton went down.

Hi there. Been away for ages, so a bit lost. Didn't there used to be a pinned thread for Australian and NZ supporters?

Just giving this a bump as I've been absent for a while, but looking to reconnect again. Good to see so many of the old guard still here.
A little bit of an update, I've had two boys, who are now 4 and 3. I finally did get to see Rovers again in the flesh when we were away at Rotherham in League One in 2018. The father-in-law is an ex-footballer and coached at Rotherham, so we got corporate tickets. Was a pretty good day despite the draw.

Good for the lad. It's about time football dragged itself into the 21st century.
Very true. It's such a shame that no other current player is willing to do the same. Hopefully this might open the door to do so.

I would of loved to see him say that to Freddie

Clarke should have left the pair of them to it.It seemed good natured sledging but Clarke took it to the next level.
And perhaps Clarke gave a little glimpse as to why the likes of Katich have had well publicised fall outs with him.
It is a weird situation. People that love him, gush over him. Then on the other hand...
-
It will be an interesting final with Australia looking for payback.
I'm only starting to get back in to League. My team, North Sydney, were forced to merge with their bitter enemy, Manly, during the breakaway Super League - NRL period. Imagine Rovers and Burnley merging. I really love seeing the Burgess brothers playing, so I have a bit of a soft spot for South Sydney.

Reverting to stereotypes. Were they wearing bowler hats too ?
The team is called England by the way.
Anderson's alleged punch threat was a claim made by Warne. The BBC probably shares everyone else's view and regards his utterings as a waste of space.
Hardly reverting to a stereotype. I would of said the same if it were South Africa, Sri Lanka or even Australia. I don't get your point, if there even was one. I don't do stereotypes. I have a close relationship with the motherland, one which I quite enjoy.
Wht tf should they? If I was in charge (and even before the press dirty tricks campaign) only the manager and captain would be allowed to even speak a word to the aussie press cos it would just get twisted. Oh and facebook and twitter etc would be banned outright! Who do the convicts reporters think they are to dish all that sh1t and then expect to get favours. Just like our lot in the gutter press I'd not p1ss on them if they were burning.
There are very credible journos here that want to do their job and report to genuine cricket fans. I find it hard that the actions of one, albeit terrible newspaper would draw such a reaction.
I don't know if Anderson said what he said, but if he did, it smacks of double standards on his behalf. Anyway, an Australian win has made it interesting.

I think both sides have gone over the top in the past. It was disappointing to see the English team not answer any questions as they were leaving Brisbane Airport, it almost bordered on arrogance. Just goes to show that they like to play the game as well. Anyway, get on and play the damn game.
-
I'll never feel safe with this team until it's done and dusted.
-
Possibly but it does looks like a very good batting pitch so it looks like a par score on that pitch is close to 400.
8-94 @ tea.

Don't want to dwell on the Broad thing again really, but I think because it was such an obvious decision, it makes a ridicule of the game for him to stand there waiting to be given out. I've seen players stand their ground for less obvious wickets and rightly so, as there might of been the slightest knick (such as Haddin) or not sure if the ball carried for a catch etc.
Anyway, today was an enthrawling game. England on the ropes, then fight back, then lose a few wickets at the end to slightly favour Australia. Great stuff.

What a load of rubbish. 😃
England were slow to start the tournament but got better throughout. The gulf in class over us was obvious.
To be honest, he was lucky to be in the job before the World Cup. He has hardly set the world on fire and was totally out coached last night.
