  1. I thought we played very well, but lacked quality in the final third. Didn't know what to make of Japan though. Their goal was dodge and apparently the ref apologised for getting it wrong, but Schwatzer had to do better than that. The boys looked tired and off pace towards the end. Great subs by Hiddink.

  2. I thought we played very well against a team who really just flooded the half with their players. The only time they really looked dangerous was towards the end of the game as we were getting more desperate and pushing up. Although we did lack creativity etc, I was pleased with our performance. Carragher was excellent today.

Well the more I think about Cisse the more I wish Lucas would slide in break his other leg. Also, whoever the commentary team were, here in Australia at least, how biased were they. mad.gif

  3. On the 25th August, during the 1997-98 season, we saw Blackburn take of Sheffield Wednesday at Ewood Park. I personally remember this game as I woke up at about 4 am just to watch it.

The first season under the management reign of Roy Hodgson, saw Rovers as title challengers for some time during the early part of the season and also saw Chris Sutton as the EPL leading goal scorer on 18 goals.

This game had a wonderful atmosphere as Wednesday's away support consisted of their band, who were well known for their rendition of 'The Great Escape'.

Rovers were ahead 3-1 after only 10 minutes, with 2 goals from Kevin Gallagher and an own goal from Hyde for Wednesday, who had also scored from the talents of Benito Carbone. Wednesday's misery had been compounded in the first half with goals from Wilcox and Sutton, giving Rovers a 5-1 half time lead.

The second half was off to a flying start with a thunderbolt strike from Carbone, which made the score 5-2. Bohinan replied for Rovers, before Carbone, Wednesday's only shining light was red carded for a terrible foul on Gallagher.

Not all was going Rovers way, when goal keeper John Filan was stretchered off with a shattered arm after a collision with Des Walker, one which was lucky enough to see Walker reamain on the pitch. Filan, who had been an outstanding player for Rovers until then, was replaced by home crowd favourite Tim Flowers.

Wednesday's horror night was further compounded after Sutton claimed his second of the night to make the final score 7-2 to Rovers.

  4. A little story for you all.

DuR, fresh after a euphoric victory against the Mancs, decided today would be the perfect occasion to wear his 94-95 Premier League Champions Jersey for free clothes day at work.

Upon walking to the bus stop, he is greeted by a weird looking fellow who smelt of B.O. The following discussion took place.

Weird Guy: Aight. What team is that then?

    DuR: Rovers.

    Weird Guy: Eh?

    DuR: Blackburn.

    Weird Guy: I'm United me.

    DuR: Which one?

    Weird Guy: United..... Manchester.

DuR: Bet you're cut after last night?

    Weird Guy: Why's that?

DuR: blink.gif You know, we beat you 4-3....

Weird Guy: Awwwww, did we play last night?

    DuR: Ummmm, yes.

Weird Guy: Beckham is my favourite player.

Cue, DuR turning his back on this guy, revealing a huge Blue and White wall with the number nine. Tosser.
