  1. He's a good player, but...

...he's 30, that's going to be another £1 million we can write off in a few years time. sad.gif

Having said that we could do a lot worse, I'd rather we went for someone younger who could learn of Short and Amo though.

whats the point in having a youth academy if we only buy young players from other clubs!!

We will have a decent mix of young and old in next season's squad, souness does no what he's doing!

  2. all you have to do is look a few posts up to find that it has already been talked about. It says we have make a bid for MGP

That article is ever more worrying. K30m is nearly £2.5m. Looks like we're going to have to pay full whack to secure his services. Could well limit how much money we have for the other midfielder and central defender.

or it could well mean that we have more money than we thought to spend

  3. really does signal just how far we have slipped as a club over the last couple of seasons and most people seem ok with it now!

Cast your minds back - duff, dunn, jansen, just signed johanson etc  we had a crop of very exciting youngsters and surrounded by a few older pro's in flitty, berg etc.

If we were to improve that side, we were looking at big name players to come in.

Now, we are content to go back to the kidd days of signing players like ashley ward.

Oh well - 90% of the rovers faithful will be happy.  They will see a player dieing for the cause. A player prepared to crash though the advertising hoardings to save a throw in. Someone who will kiss the badge and really really mean it. Someone the fans can relate too?

What we lose, is an exciting, attacking, unpredictable team that on there day could challenge anyone.

I'd rather have Yorke any day than dickov & I would have done more to try and get the team to play the football we used to play. To get the team to play to the strengths of the few world class players we did have.

Oh well. It's a changing times.

That all aside - I will continue to support the Rovers and welcome Dickov when he signs. I'll just be gutted everytime I think what might have been!

As things stand, as soon we sign/bring up a decent player, Chelsea or Man Utd will take them off our hands for a wdege of cash. We are no longer contenders. Deal with it.

Everyone here would love to see Duff, the old Jansen, Henry etc. in our shirt, but it isn't going to happen. We can't go and sign Schnijder, Van Der Vaart, Ronaldinho and Thuram, so we have work within our limits, and not keep thinking we're going to go for the Champions League.

Tell me, where are these fantastic players we can get for 50p, and bring back those days ?.

It's all about being satisfied with what we can get, and sadly it isn't Henry.

Andy C- that is the biggest pile of crap I've ever read.

First, back when we had players like jansen, duff and dunn we were in DIVISION 1!! Now souness has brought his own squad in and despite a bad season last season, this is the best squad of players we have had since king kennys team.

Back to the Kidd days?? What planet are you on, we are signing the like of van buyten and a young prospect called Moten Pederson!

Also, you say we lose an exciting team who were unpredictable. Well i would rather rovers played boring football every game and still won every game than play the best football and be unpredictable.

And what the hell are you talking about when you say you would rather have yorke than dickov. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN YORKE PLAY!!

I feel you are saying this so you can be, as Pringle said to waggy ,'The controversial one'

  4. No MGP is not attached by hysterical supporters, but the club is.

We are Tromsø supporters and we put the club higher then a single player.

We will die for the club, the players are just part time workers that will leave in a few years.

We wish MGP the best as we have done so many times before with Rushfeldt, Lange, O.M Årst ... yeah even Tore Andre Flo became a top scorer in Tromsø before he went to Brann and to England.

Enought is enough. We have to tell the management that "money in the bank - doesnt win the match". Instead of selling they should be bying two new midthfielders themselves.

I know that both the coaches (Høgmo and Ulseth) are not very glad for this selling idea at all.

Even the local newspapers are telling the club to not sell MGP now.

I really dont think the new management is so stupid that they let MGP go now. If Blackburn want him so bad, they have to let him stay in Tromsø until the end of the season, else I really dont think you will get him without paying twice the money.

We told you, HAVE DWIGHT YORKE!!!

Now can we pleaseeeeeeee have MGP!!!

  5. Paul Agniew also confirms that Blackburn have several world class players in their sight, so missing out on Pedersen wont be a big blow because then we might just buy Vicente from Spain or get Duffer back. As for Dickov he reports that the only reason Blackburn are signing him is because of the lack of bouncers at the local pub, and that he is sick and tired of doing all the "dirty work" around the training field himself, like filling waterbottles and stuff

    WTF????

This Paul Agniew seems a bit of a daft prick laugh.gif

Where might I find gullable in the dictionary? thumbs-up.gif

I think the smilie face shows that although I cannot read noweigion, i can see when someone is telling porkies. Krislu.

  7. I watched the Norway game from the stands last night, with a special eye out for Pedersen, and I certainly don't think Pedersen did much to impress potential buyers. Not that any of the other players did either of course.

His first 30 minutes were no good at all, passes all sprayed about with abandon and never seeming to hit the right man. Showed a few neat touches in the last 15 though, and I was sad to see him taken off at half time because he seemed to be getting into the game a bit.

Before the match I had the oppurtunity to have a little chat with Halvard Thoresen, who is assistant manager of the Norway side and coached MGP for 3 years at U21 level. When asked specifically about MGP, he said that he is a bit incosistent yet but capable of being world class when he is performing at his best and surely will be a key player for Norway in the future.

sounds a bit like what mick Mcarthy*(spelling) said about duffer when he was first involved with the ROI squad.

Oh, apart from the key player for norway part biggrin.gif
