  1. A loving tribute to Matt Jansen (with apologies to Outkast)

    I'm sorry Matt Jansen

    You were for real

Never meant to crash your motorbike

Miss the season, lose your spot to Dwight

    I'm sorry Matt Jansen

    It's not ideal

Doctors appointments all on your own

England spot lost to Martin Keown

  2. American you lucky @#/?. Although my 17yo passable did pop to solid after one week smile.gif.

People. A little advice please (especially BigA and PG). I face the top team this week and he's only two points above me. The following week i play the fourth-placed team. Should i MoTS this week. If i don't i reckon i'm maybe 50-50 for the win. If i do i face a dangerous game the following week. My TS is at irritated (and has been for most of the season).

My opponent has bot teams for the next two weeks and my worry is that he'll MoTS this match.

  3. Holy cow what a dull match. 3 events in the first half and none(!) in the second. No wonder crowds are down smile.gif. I'm also looking for a home and away international friendly. (team id =417804)

12590 spectators had come to AFC Resolution Arena this cloudy day. Resolution started off with a 5-4-1 lineup. They fielded: Pons - Christensen, Williams, Glover, Liberman, Nails - Williams, Mousing, Sunesson, Taylor - Curnow.

Supine had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Wharerau - Curry, Aujla, Martens - Mackenzie, Lawrance, Elizondo, Sarumara - Martin, Noisternig, Bradley.

Chris Lawrance of Supine received a yellow card in the 3rd minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Resolution´s Chris Glover got himself booked. After 19 minutes Supines Dante Martin made his way through the middle, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. 0 - 1 was the half-time score. Resolution, bringing the final ball possession rate to 58 percent, dominated the battle.

The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Resolution, with an impressive 61 percent possession of the ball.

The most dominating Resolution player was without a doubt Dominic Nails. Robbie Williams was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Supine player was without a doubt Billy Curry. Chris Lawrance on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 1.

  4. I listed him at AU$99K It's a bit less than a passable keeper in solid form with passable set pieces would normally go for but it should encourage bidding.

EDIT: I ended up getting AU$52K for him which wasn't too bad considering he had the second highest wages and was still out for another 6 weeks.

  5. Yo guys....little advice please. My passable keeper just sustained a 7 week injury and my backup is an inadequate one. I have since purchased a solid keeper (because it was an improvement i was planning on doing soon anyway) but i don't really want to pay the salary of 3 keepers. Which keeper should i get rid of; the inadequate one, who will go for almost nothing, or the passable keeper, who will go for a severely reduced price because of his injury.

If you need something to tip the balance the passable keeper is one of the foundation members of my squad consequentially i have a sentimental attachment for him.

  6. Yeah i'll challenge you tomorrow BigA. Although i am only about $10K in the black at the moment one of my 17yo trainees popped to solid scoring after only a week (gotta love it) so i have a get out of jail card if things go bad. Plus i have a home game this week although that doesn't seem to help at the moment. In any case i can afford the travel smile.gif

  7. What can you do to improve the form of players, and what makes it slip in the first place? I have 2 IMs and a winger that i really need for my first team but they have poor or worse form at the moment and only get 1 star at the max in friendlies. Is this something that will resolve itself over time or is there something i can do (apart from training general).

  8. I would've given my left nut to see Thommo start against WBA. In addition to lacking composure we also lacked attacking flair. Our team is made up of "workaholics" and "grafters" but against a composed defence people of that mentality and ability have a diminished effectiveness. Thommo plays with panache and imagination, kind of like what Duff used to bring to the team, and it was painfully obvious that we lacked that type of player during the match.

Retrospectively that sort of creative, attacking flair was something that Andy Cole brought to Rovers, and although i never thought i'd say this, we really needed it on Saturday.

  9. Sadly i also experienced my best ever youth pull:

    Felix Bradley (38976017)

    17 years, passable form

A controversial person who is balanced and upright.

Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities.

    Nationality: Oceania

    Total Skill Index (TSI): 570

    Wage: 1 181 AU$/week

    Owner: Supine Rovers

Warnings: (this information is not available while matches are in progress)

    Stamina: poor Goaltending: disastrous

    Playmaking: weak Passing: weak

    Winger: weak Defending: wretched

    Scoring: passable Set Pieces: inadequate

Still i am training scoring and he has better secondaries than some of my other trainees so i reckon i'll keep him. Also check out this match:

    Beaconsfield Bombers - Supine Rovers 0 - 5

    View game: HT Live

    Date: 15/08/2004 at 04.00

    MatchID: 20760117

    Arena: Beaconsfield Bombers Arena

    Crowd: 6949

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 6949 to Beaconsfield Bombers Arena. Beaconsfield had chosen a strategic 0-0-0 formation. The following players had been chosen: - - - .

Supine had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Lineup: Lane - Martens, Aujla, Curry - Lawrance, Elizondo, Sarumara, Barlagen - Martin, Graziano, Nold.

The home side had to concede to a walkover since they had failed to produce a squad of at least 9 players. The match ends 0 - 5.

Worst bit is i didn't PIC the match because i played the guy last week in the league so i just assumed that he would put out a team this week. Still i checked on the oceania conferences and my players still get training so no real harm done.

  10. Velvet, a bunch of us posted some helpful hints regarding starting out in hattrick for Eddie. Unfortunately Eddie's concentration span is as long as his average post and, although he has probably received a team by now, i doubt he's actively managing it. Still you may want to browse through this thread as there is some good advice for beginners.

For the record I had to wait ~1 week to get a team.

  11. Nutted out my first 3-4-3 victory on the weekend (2-0 over a human team) so i was pretty happy. My six 17yo passable strikers cost me AU$90K all up but i received AU$310K for the sale of my 28yo solid striker (sold him to a guy who had started playing hattrick that day biggrin.gif). I still have three passable defending, passable winger players that i'm not sure i need, at least not all of them. Given the price i got from the sale of a previous passable defending, passable winger (AU$183K) player i'm thinking i should sell 2 of them and get me another solid defender.
