  1. the departure of Souness says it all to me - He realised that the club is going nowhere, not with the current set of fans anyway

Qualifies for idiotic quote of the week.

He left because he realised HE would be going somewhere if he didn't- straight out of work!

And as for the fans- well lets transfer them all to another club and find new ones shall we!! (I hope it was a mistype and you meant NUMBER of fans)

As for the trust fund- let's make this clear. The trust fund (if it shares the characteristics of most other trust funds) has to be shared between the family and Rovers. The capital (cash) in there cannot be touched by the trustees, only the income- which, given 3-4% per annum in interest and assuming the £330m is correct, would be approximately £11.5 million. That has to be shared with the other beneficiaries.

It may be possible to BORROW from the trust, but it would have to be paid back. (possibly what happened to the Duff money)

  2. Now let me see - Dickov or Kluivert- who would I prefer to have in my team????

And very soon, Newcastle too can look forward to a team full of Lucas Neills, Lorenzo Amoruso (Souness' for only £2m- come on Graeme, you know you want him) and Brett Emertons. Little flair, little talent and no bottle.

They SO don't know how bad this is going to be in Newcastle, although someone I know in the Newcastle area is already sending me emails bemoaning his appointment!!

  3. Actually this most reminds me of when we sold Mike Newall. I couldn't believe he'd finally gone, and we'd got real CASH MONEY for him!

I feel like that about Souness and the backroom "staff" he employed. And this time it's WITHOUT the feeling that someone important will leave (shearer) at the same time - we have no-one important to lose any more.

  4. He obviously did think about what to spend that £21m on and he has had some undeniable succesess in Stead, Tugay, Friedal and Neill and I for one will miss him. It'll be hard if we recruit a placid manager in the Wenger - "I didn't see it" mould, after four years of Souey passion.

He bought three of those BEFORE he wasted the £21m on Amauseless, Emerton, Reid (three of the most hopeless signings I've ever seen anywhere)Yeldell and Ferguson.

And how ANYONE could diss Wenger in ANY footballing WAY when comparing him to our ex pile-of-poo manager is unbelievable!!!

  5. For American

I don't care if we get McLeish- except he's not proving to be too good and we've had enough of that with Souness. I don't care if we get Terry Butcher- he's doing quite well at Motherwell. I don't care if we get McCoist-except he hasn't got the coaching badges and the female populace of blackburn wouldn't be safe. I would care about Walter Smith but only because he is a rubbish manager.

    Sorry

I JUST HATED SOUNESS. and he's GONE!!!!! and nothing any of YOU can say will change that- he's gone to Pukea**ehole. The world really doesn't get MUCH better

Oh what a beautiful day!!! (repeat ad nauseam)

  6. Glenn, I agree with you.

Please Mr Williams, now that we've got compensation for removing one of the highest paid managers in the Premiership, can we TRY to get someone who MIGHT have some clue on blobs. (for those of you who don't know about blobs, it's a patented organisational system thought up by one of my friends. To employ "blobs" you first find out what position all of your players play in- you know - how they'd describe themselves on their passport. You then choose the system you want to play, and put the best player ("blob") in each position into the team. I know we HAVE played this in the past, but it seems so long ago...........) From there we can move on to "jumpers" which involves ONLY passing to those wearing the same coloured shirt as you (or Brad- you CAN pass to Brad- although NOT in the middle of an attacking move unless it's in the last 3 minutes and we're losing)

Also, we only have ONE man to thank for having one of the weakest squads in the Premiership. And he's gone to do the same to Pukea**ehole- oh happy day!

  7. OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING!!!

I can truthfully say that the weather looks just that little bit better this morning. This is the best thing that could have happened for Rovers (and me -unless the ******* had moved to Rangers) as Newcastle (aka Pukea**ehole are my second least favourite team in the world- I even prefer Manure).

I got my season ticket as soon as the confirmation appeared on Rovers website (the first time I phoned the ticket office couldn't confirm anything)

At least hopefully we'll have no more of the "he's hit so and so, and fallen out with so and so" reports now. God help Pukea**ehole- Freddie Shepard obviously has NO idea what's going on in the world- note their fans are furious- hehehe

Strachan (unless he takes over as Scotland manager - please PLEASE) is my choice for the position. He IS available, although we might be too far away from the rest of his life for him.

Apart from him, Mark Hughes would be good, Mike Newall is making a BIG name for himself down here.

But actually I don't much mind. I'd add Hoddle to my last list of people I don't want (forgot about his existence) but there are very few I'd turn down. They all have one advantage. They're NOT Graeme Souness.

Bye, bye. Don't let the door hit you on the A**e on the way out.

    Oh, What a Beautiful Morning,

    Oh what a beautiful day

    I've got a Beautiful feeling

    Everything's goin' my way!!!!

  8. Dave

I found much of that last post to come from ignorance. You're not an ignorant man, so read on

I dislike Souness first and foremost because he is bad for the club. He drives good players away- as a group you sneer at the ones who have gone, but they are better than what we have now- not all admittedly, but a lot.

As for quoting past history- that's silly. we would still be etc......... How do you know? Who's to say that some other manager wouldn't have managed to get us out of the problems we were in AND not alienated the talent? IS that really relevant now?

Give more time? How much more? Till he takes us down again? We've been USELESS for more than a season now, but you don't seem to recognise that.

And just to put you right- your assumption that I'm catholic is as wrong as all of your other assumptions. I've said there are many managers I'd accept in the job. The four I wouldn't are: Souness, Keegan,Graham Taylor and Walter Smith (the last three because they're awful managers the first because he's already failed in the job)

  9. You're all absolutely barking.

We had this daft poll last season as well when you ALL agreed that we had a stronger squad than the year before and look how well THAT turned out.

Our squad has been weakened beyond belief in the past 2 seasons. At least this time we've managed to put in a couple of left-footers, but we couldn't even say that the two of them COMBINED are fit to lace Duff's bootlaces.

Similarly we lose out on the Bothroyd and Dickov v Cole analysis. I know you all like a "rush around" WHITE striker rather than an infinitely more skilful Black one, but hey- that's YOUR problem. Bringing in Amoruso for Berg last season weakened that position beyond belief, and even replacing the useless Gillespie has been done with the even MORE useless Emerton.

All you can say is that this lot are HIS poor choices of personnel rather than someone else's. He'll have to live (or die) metaphorically at least, by this bunch. Looking forward to the resignation Graeme.

  10. So Souness has SOME heart then. The "just needs confidence" is giving Jansen a chance to find another club. Coming out and saying "he's lost it, is about as much use as your average 7 year old footballer" which unfortunately is closer to the truth would mean that Jansen HAD no future.

I don't think we'll hear anything about Matt Jansen in a footballing sense once he leaves us.

  11. We should play to emerton alot and give him instructions to run at the full back.

Dear God! That's the surest fire way for us to lose that I've ever heard of. Let's play lots of balls to "who me? go past him? MUMMY!!!" Emerton? The winger who gets CHEERED when he actually passes an opponent (I know I've HEARD the two cheers in the past 2 seasons)

The man is useless and should be left as far away from the first team as possible.

    That said, he'll play.
