  1. Shame to see some of the comments on Ugbo. Clearly a lot of the comments are being based off stats rather than people who follow Ligue 1. I watch a lot of ligue 1 being half French and support Lyon over there as my French team. Troyes is connected to Manchester City but Ugbo is very highly seen at the club and a player for the future to develop. The squad itself has not had an overly incredible season, the way the team plays doesn’t fit Ugbo strength either which the manager has admitted in the past. Ugbo has taken a similar path to football like Mavididi. Personally, he makes sense as a signing he is a powerful player who can hold the ball up well, and he knows how to header unlike Gallagher. Thomas will fit in perfectly into the this I actually think this is not a wow signing but a very sensible signing.

  2. Smozdic I don't mind he is a good character for the squad and tries hard the fee I haven't got a problem as i imagine it isn't 2m straight up but with bonuses etc...Within the rotational basis of the squad I think he is fine for it. I would say once we find the balance in our midfield and he gets use to that system then we will be fine.

Source is Pete O'Rourke, the same guy who said we were in advanced talks with Kilkenny a fortnight ago so not sure be about this

As much as i love Van Hecke another CB isn't a priority. Yes i was happy with Porteous but I think we need to first solve the Diaz dilema. I think it would be a shame to lose him on a free would rather see a sale this window and pick up behind a Curtis whose contract is running out, a Brannagan, and Van Hecke/Porteous behind to replace ayala in the summer. Even a cheeky bid for Maja giving his performance this year.

  4. Agreed the work Glen did was commendable for bringing the fight and I remember Kamy as well sharing vital information.

i am not at all the person who can bring the fight like Glen did but would certainly support someone and try my best get as involved as possible from afar. Love the club but I am half French didn’t grow up in the area and have barely been to Ewood but I am very much involved in the away games which are easier for me to get too. So I know little about the grass root issues. I am happy to invest my time and discussing and seeing what can be done and hold individuals accountable. It could be simple as ourselves amongst fans organising a survey about the thoughts on the price if season tickets, structure, get out own data and facts to then hit the hammer home as to the state of the club

  5. I feel like this is shaping up to be quite an interesting time in Rovers History. I know many fans are disenfranchised with the style of football, the manner of the defeats, the owners, etc... However, the names that we are going for to me personally are the right kind of player to get us out of this division like a Porteous. The main question I have mentally to deal with is what to do with Diaz? Personally if Villarreal offer us 8M for Diaz i would take it in a heart beat. It allows us to get Undav, Porteous, Haikin, and a someone else like Brannagan then we will be in a far stronger position of developing a squad

The gamble is too great at this moment in time and i always believe finances have to come first to protect the club. If we get Porteous in, I feel like Ash Phillips should be loaned out to get some gets and time or sale off Scotty Wharton but would rather we loan out Phillips. If rumors are anything to go by and we get Haikin signed up, it is time to sell of Pears which i do believe we would get a decent fee. His Cup performance merit getting a fee.

Don't we know you won't stop saying it.

It depends on how much money would be invest and would we got a good enough replacement in. Also bids on deadline day were pointless. Never going to be accept us.

We having one loan player to replace one who left us. Maybe the player we want isn't available to the Summer or his club wants too much for him. Plus depending on what the budget and whether you can get a quality player.

You suggesting signing BBD and signing 3 players but then you are increasing the wage bill which might be over budget. Plus can you sign a quality replacement in this window. Big questions and none we really have the answer to as we don't have access to the budget, what is going on the behind the scenes transfer wise, plus agents, clubs and players demands?

Fair enough. I judge him on all 6 departments

no transfer window is easy ss you make you it sound. I don't know if you what the transfer documentary yesterday on Sky one at 9pm last night but what a brilliant insight in football and how clubs, agents and players work in transfer window and before.

I understand your point about BBD but if clubs want to get him on the cheap then no chance. Plus you got to look replacement's cost and can you bring in the required quality. You are talking at least 5 million for a quality striker to replace BBD's goals then you need a left side midfielder to replace him position wise. In the summer maybe we can do it cheaper or have a bigger budget than this season. We see in the coming weeks and months

We currently have 2 loan players at the club. Garrett and Wharton will replace Morton anyway long term.

I think BBD will sign a pre contract with a Spanish club. Probably in the near future it will be announce. Said this in the summer also.

Ayala will go but if we sign the Hibs defender haven't we already replace him plus Carter and Phillips backing this up.

hardly a rebuild at the minute looking at it but GB and his team will be planning for next season already or should be despite the January window being open.

what are his strengths and weaknesses

To be honest chaddy would put him in a similar vein to Lenihan. He is super aggressive no nonsense center back who has a red in him due to his aggressiveness. But I would say he about the same level Lenihan but younger with a lot of growth in him still but good old classic warrior something I feel we lack in this team. I do wonder what this means for Scotty Wharton as Porteous is to replace Ayala, we are playing 4 at the back not 5 and I imagine Ash Philips will soon be ahead of him

  7. I have to admit if we Porteous will be delighted be a fan of his for a while and we have seem to be constantly linked with him for several years. Daniel Ayala has been fantastic this season but in November will be 33 i wouldn't renew his contract and we may save a few quid on the salary as well.

Gelhardt looks like a decent player going forward but isn't a striker which with Diaz returning i am less worried. The main issue for me is we are missing a Lewis Travis at his best, someone to throw in the tackle and push the midfield to fight for every ball. Garrett will become a decent player but we need someone to really bring the fight in the midfield area. Morton has been decent but isn't the aggressive player we need. I feel like the reason we lose these matches is due to a lack of intensity and confidence sometimes. I feel like Dack has been an incredible support to the team since returning, but we need more players like him who take responsibility.

He could have the next twelve months and it still won’t work. You’re either a ball player or you’re aren’t. You’re either a tackler or you aren’t. You’re either quick or you aren’t. Those things can be improved marginally but at the end of the day you can’t turn the likes of Ayala into a Baresi or a Beckenbauer.

For sure agreed, but I expect to see further improvements to Adam Wharton, Garrett, Mola, Vale, Hirst, Morton, the whole general young players and better team cohesion by the time they come back.

  9. Awful performance, main issue experience, experience, experience...The team got out fought and out thought nervous with the ball. We were so lost in possession the team was set up to defend the problem is if you don't have any players who can unlock the defence there is no point Garrett shouldn't have started for me, I would have rather seen Adam Wharton any day of the week. Hedges needs to play further up the pitch he isn't a RB Brittain should be there and Pickering should have started. It is a shame. I didn't expect a Win, given the Burnley team I thought a draw would be a good results but this lost in the manner that we did was awful. Well played Burnley they completely bullied us.
