For the past 25 years or more the strategy has been to encourage and reward ST holders with very competitive pricing.

I would have thought that obvious. How one views it's success or otherwise is up for debate. One view would be we appear to have a high proportion of our match day crowd who are ST holders suggesting the strategy works.

It hasn't worked this season rovers shouldn't have increased ST prices and should have rode the wave of optimism

We don't have a big catchment area we also have the sky factor and Before we start on the demographics of the town argument BwD is a very low paid area whoever is the CEO has to do their homework like John Williams did obviously waggott is going for small profit gains before he moves on

Very pleased Swansea won at Millwall. Cant stand Harris or Millwall.

I wouldn't be surprise if Bruce is sack but they did recently back him so why not get until the next break in the season in October

Harris is a Millwall legend I bet he's bothered about the likes of you on a forum.. The Swansea win puts us down in the league are you celebrating this...

Stuart it's only this season he hasn't been starting, Karanka doesn't fancy him doesn't make him a bad player does it?

Karanka wasn't a fan of Rhodes either a player I know you rate.

On would I expect him to come in and start banging them in or be our undisputed no 1 striker from the get go?No but I think he has great potential and would eventually be.

Mowbray has spoken about it taking 3 or 4 Windows to get a squad together capable of putting in a sustained challenge for promotion,Brereton is being brought in with one eye on the future.

We have been told by the club and Mowbray that they are hoping to bring 3 or 4 in, if that's the case then i'l be happy  and excited with the Brereton signing.

If we only brought Brereton in for 8 million and nobody else then I would be scratching my head as i would feel the money would have been better used spread out

Karanka doesn't fancy him doesnt make him a bad player or a bad manager.. Karanka got Rhodes to get them over the line of which he did that was the only reason he wanted him imo Rhodes then lost confidence but now he's scoring again for Norwich even though he missed a penalty last week..

Now 8 million for potential is a lot if as it seems we haven't much more for manoeuvre or the deal would have been done so it's a gamble

I don’t think it’s been very good, but I’m not stupid enough to think giving Lenihan, Dack and a few others new contracts and adding some young potential and quality in three signings is “the worst in recent memory”.

I would suggest you get a grip.

    Grow up biz..

You started with the calling comments

Just try and enjoy the rest of the season.. If you go that is ??

BTW As for giving new improved contracts if Rovers didn't their agents would have been touring em about and trying to get them a better deal elsewhere.. That is a modern day football fact

Agree we could’ve used some quality and depth but you can’t really suggest this summer is worse than hiring Coyle, signing Stokes, Greer, Feeney and Wes Brown - whilst loaning a load of premier league players (only a couple any good) and selling Hanley and Duffy?

Last season we had to replace almost half the squad. Losing some quality too like Mahoney. We also had a league one budget - all the signings costing less than Armstrong’s fee.

So, right mind or a poor memory?

Mahoney was never going to sign as he was offered a pittance by Rovers

The hiring of Coyle was nothing to do with transfers look who we should have had and were are Cardiff now ??

Biz is you think this summers transfer window has been good than you are talking biz..

    This.

Positive season last year and we've failed to build on it.  Firstly the late release of STs, then the price increase of STs, followed by talk of exciting players and good budgets, followed by failure to deliver them.  Unable to win either of our first 2 games on the pitch.   All of this means we are pretty much back at square one in terms of attracting supporters back.

Going to need a lucky cup run or something to get people back though the door now.

With regards to Saturday's attendance, a lot of people are on holiday and Millwall may put a few off.  Thought 13k plus wasn't bad tbh.

I went down for a couple of extra tickets as a favour on Saturday morning as ST holder and 1875 got a £3 discount per ticket as the family I purchased em for don't live local and after 12 would face the matchday-ticket increase. quite a healthy queue so was hoping for a crowd topping the 15k mark unfortunately this didn't happen as you rightly pointed out people are still on holiday but the clubs pricing structure isn't helping to attract more fans back to Ewood as another poster pointed out it seems waggott has gone for short term gain

How on earth could anyone in their right mind call this summer “worst summer transfer window for some time”..

Do you remember last year when we had to replace 12 players after dropping into the third division?

How about the year before when we sold our two best centrebacks?

I could go on, but I’m not going to. Try thinking before you speak because anyone with an ounce of sense couldn’t say keeping our best players, extending their deals and adding some potential (Armstrong, Davenport and Rothwell) is one of the “worst” in recent memory.

    Underwhelming perhaps.

    Right mind lol... Nice insult

The point being is the side is in need of quality for competition for places as anyone knows we are very light up top and even though midfield is well stocked we need better

As far as the relegation to league one transfer window we kept our better players and brought in Dack the season before we brought in pure quality with Mulgrew so biz you are talking biz Imho

  8. A lot of frustration is its been the worst summer transfer window for some time when the squad clearly needs building on especially when TM wanted signings done early on

On another note the attendance was pretty disappointing newly promoted and a nice day.. The feel good factor from the end of last season seems to have evaporated when the Club should have built on it

I'm pleased with the signings he made. Armstrong at 1.75 million pounds with adds ons rising to 3 mil is a bargain and steal. Palmer is good loan signing and Davenport should be very good signing.

Would I like another striker, winger and centre back? of course but we could do that during the loan window.

I totally agree Neal, the lack of faith in Mowbray is very sadly and very pathetic to see. And this love in for Ipswich and Hurst I just don't get at all. Only Edwards I would have taken.

Here is a list of Championship transfers

The McGinn link is a weird one. What position is he? I know he’s a midfielder but is he going to sit in one of the two positions filled by Smallwood, Evans, Travis and Davenport or as one of the three attacking mids? I really can’t see us signing another DM. Also seems like Celtic are in the driving seat....BUT I don’t think the Daily Record is a ‘fake news’ outlet...so there probably is an interest. Be a fantastic signing too!

On a separate note, it would be a great bit of housekeeping if we could get rid of the likes of Hart, Caddis, Gladwin and Whittingham. Plus loaning out Nuttall (When reinforcements arrive) plus Tomlinson.

McGinn would be a coup signing but it's possible his agent has put it out with the Mowbray hibs link and the fact we've recently played them to gee Celtic or whoever else to put in a more attractive bid

I share a lot of JAL's suspicions on these agent connections etc  but I've no idea how many players this guy is involved with at Rovers or if it's at a level to be concerned about. Certain things will never go away whilst Venkys are here I think it's something we just have to live with now, maybe a strong manager and CEO will finally sort the wheat from the chaff when players are presented up.

Whatever you know maybe you should just blurt it out fella, I would !

It can be quite difficult to blurt certain things out in the public domain perhaps you can pm jal

Unfortunately a lot of managers are linked to agents some directly some indirectly it's now part and parcel of what was sport  now a billion pounds industry its when the area's get grey when the fans suffer sadly but if its not illegal.. Ah well.... Let's just enjoy the football

  12. The problem we have is football has changed since we were last in the championship never mind the prem thanks to venkys and purpose relegations we've fallen so far behind we are now shopping at the equivalent of discount stores like b and m bargains version's in the transfer market and its so hard to compete unless somehow we come up with a few lucky deals and win the lottery ticket of promotion

I am fully aware of Mowbray's comments about signings and recruitment. I agree we dont want loads of loan players like we had under Coyle. I think 2 loans out 6 signings is fine and nothing to worry about..

Mowbray has a budget and I'm looking he is looking to spend most of it on a striker like Armstrong as a potential target. Im sure they will be others aswell. Plus possibly Chapman permanently if terms are right for us or cheap backup centre back if Wharton leaves on loan.

Then sign 2 loan players. Kent and Gallagher being those 2.

So our summer transfer business would be.

Permanent signings - Rothwell, Davenport, Armstrong(my choice), Chapman or cheap centre back.

Loan signings - Kent and Gallagher

For me thats would be good transfer window

Er what is the budget.. At the moment it looks like its under last seasons...
