  1. Am guessing you are under 35? Anyone older would remember the time before the necessary evil of shirt sponsorship came into being and the defilement of the shirt.I shudder at the thought of gambling companies, beer salesmen and the @#/? perspex posse tagging their name onto the Rovers shirt to sell a few more units. My favourite shirt of recent years was the Princes Trust one and the one with no sponsor's logo on at all, the year after. I really dislike having to prostitute our lovely shirt out to this consumerist bullshit. Could be worse, at least we've not got 'Ribble Valley @#/? Shelving' on it.

    SNAP

  2. Spice Lounge

Bad: £1.70 for a small cola

    Bad: Barman shortchanged me.

    Bad: Extras (nan,chapatti,etc), overcharged!

Bad: Empty resteraunt and put in the dark at the back.

    Good: Chicken Delight starter.

    Good: Portion Size

    Good: Earlybird £10 2 courses. ( std curry ).

  3. Went to the Tempest arms at Elslack again at the weekend. Place was heaving despite it being just after Christmas a time when most pubs and restaurants are feeling the pinch. Food very good again. Learnt from last time to avoid starters and just go for mains with the option of a dessert if you're really hungry.

Eaten there a few time, completely agree with the portion size point.

Went to the Wellsprings in sabden last night. Mexican / Spanish food. Nice atmosphere, brilliant starters , the main meal came and was also very very nice although the rice could have been better on the side. Sangria on tap too!!

Had quesadilla for starter and beef burrito for the main.

The missus had Chicken wings and chicken fajita.

    Very generous portions.

Was a bit pricey, however it was two for one night so was very reasonable after discount. Well worth a visit.

Although next time I go will be on a clear sunny day in summer for the views. (Situated near the top of pendle hill)

how did you go about getting discount ?

  4. The Nabs Head link was from the previous owners and was an out-of-date web site.

It was also celery and watercress soup not leek and celery. I asked the landlord last night!!

you are correct... think it had celery in it too, just didn't get the billing.

My anti virus package doesn't like your link one bit!

Neither did mine!, and I am guessing nether did hers when she hit the page! However like the 'girl' she is she would have ignored that and left it up for me to look at and subsequently post a bogus link up on here ........ this was unfortunate, but not deliberate.

  5. Nabs Head well that was an experience....

to start with the link that the girlfriend found coppied into my last post was bogus.

    http://thenewnabshead.co.uk/

that the real site ... so she was somewhat taken for surprise when the meals she had planned from the menu didn't exist!

we setteled from the Christmas menu.

Creame of leek and cellary soup followed by the road Turkey dinner.

The soup was more gelatinous than creamy, not over seasoned .....bit bland.

Turkey dinner can't complain, Nicely cut turkey, good stuffing wrapped in bacon with chipolatas and tastey gravy.

    Veg slightly overdone.

    roast potatoes good.

for 9.99 and a quid for a coke.. good vfm...

take your grandmas and aunts, not your girlfriend!!!!!

    Clocked the Flowers shirt.......good lads!

  6. Not a restaurant but we had a good curry from Ruchi Bangla on Bolton road recently

Still trying to work out the best Indian that delivers to cherry tree though

Ali Raj ( fenni tandoori ) as long as you keep to the standard dished, they are VERY GOOD as sis the chick shalick. Also they will make any curry to your request.. delivery free under a tenner otherwise a quid.

  7. Oyster and Otter on Sunday. Was a really good meal. Had a few unhappy visits prior to this but gave it yet another chance and it did not fail this time around.

Service, food and atmosphere was spot on.

Only gripe was £4.20 a pint of lager shandy.

i got my Fish and Chip take Away on Sunday from OO, and have to say was top quality, only gripes being chip portion was small and £4.00 for a pint of Spanish lager.

    £4:20 for Shandy WTF!!!!

  8. Anyone been to the RAJ yet? (The Moorings)

Yes, and left thinking. Emm that bill didnt add up!

    4 heads, £105. 4 vodka&T, 8 Pints larger, 1 bottle house white(dont'), 12 popadum + 2 trays of chuckney, 2 starters, 4 curries, 3 rice, 1 nan, 4 chapatti.

Sure it should have come to more.....

But would not return, as none of the meals was near the quality of a good take away in terms of flavour/freshness or consistancy....SHAME..

If you have a large party howver, they do have the space to accomodate you.

  9. Naga, Abbey Village

Tried the lamb Naga, and was mightly impressed. Nice clean place with pleasent service.

    Spice Lounge, (Was New Inns)

ordered from the 9.99 restricted menu. Food excellent and very good value. Only complaint was the time it took to take the plates and then serve desert. They were deffo trying to get our party to order more from the bar, we had realiszed this and they were reminded about the deserts 3 TIMES before it arrived. (takes awhile for icecream and pancakes). As an indication a large coke was £2:90
