Settings get even more complicated, then the optimum for Film is no where near the optimum for live sport. My TV has 3 complete sets of "settings" stored, so I can quickly change from FILM or LIVE or VIDEO etc..... Very handy.
Then there are the setting for the virual dolby surround .. .

Are you saying that a CRT Tv displaying SD, is better than any LCD Tv displaying HD?
I am catagorically NOT saying that! My point was to back up your advise to the masses re "its all in the settings".
My mates are like the "average Joe", their HD impresses the hell out of them. In their ignorance the assumed WE had HD. Far from it, we have nothing BUT SD/CRT, just a very impressive CRT.
LCD/PLASMA can look shocking with incorrect settings, BUT people spend 500quid to 1000s on them , and are quite happy to sit and look at shocking picture qualit ( for sake of a few settings ).
Dont get me started on the 1000s of TVs with incorrect aspect ratio settings. My pet hate.

To you people getting HD.
HD is superb, - no doubts about it. BUT, to get the best picture on your new sets, the TV must be set up to it's optimum setting. Settings are everything.
Nor is it as easy as you might think. You have a combination of Backlight, Brightness, Contrast and Colour to adjust. Lot's more picture enhancers, such as black stretch, contrast enhancer, Gamma etc, as well. The possible combinations there are immense. Add to that, Sharpness and colour tints/tones and you will see there is a great deal more, to setting up a LCD TV, than there is with a CRT.
Set the TV badly and High Definition wont look as good as it should.
Just to re-itterate this, a friend came to our house last week and was amazed that we had HD, even though we dont have Sky OR NTL. He waxed lyrical about HD and wasnt it brilliant.
We were watching Wimbledon on a 25quid freeviw box from ASDA and the last in the line Sony CRT screens.
The brightness and depth to best of the CRTs blows alot of HD ready TVs out of the water. Not to mention it fooled a HD viewer into thinking we had HD on our CRT/freeview ....

to expand on the cleanliness thing. the suspician stems from the state of the equipment removed from the premisis when new kit was put in.

Best Indian - ( no constancy here at all ), had excellent takeaways from sukis, and many in blackbburn, but then so dissapointed when eventually all the curries taste the same.
I have a theory here. Maybe there are travellling chefs that try to teach how to make the curries, after they leave, they go back to serving the same all slop.
Best Thai - NEVER BEEN TO ONE ROUND HERE
Best Italian - Algheros, last time I went, service was pathetic, food was poor. Not a patch were it was 2 or 3 years ago.
Best Contemporary English - Thyme @ the Sirloin, standards dropped.
Best Chinese - Holy Tree, Feniscowles, not the cleanest environment !!! ( your are warned )
Best for a quick lunch - Cafe Beees, Blackburn town centre, 1 fantastic Christmas meal and 1 very dissapoining lunchtime.

As I've said before, how many chemists are going to be happy stocking this stuff and having 20 smackheads queueing in their shop, probably helping themselves to various other items whilst they're there?
Ive said it before. The junkies already do rob the chemists when they go to have there prescription methadone administrered to them.

SWP hasn't done very well in that aspect lately either but I see he is starting. PLonker.
SWP scored, then didnt beat a man, didnt put a ball in the box. Even his dad though he has a shocker for the 2nd preformance after being laughed at for bigging up is son.

Along withthe topic of getting the atmosphere back into Ewood. Would someone like to volunteer to start "Theres only one ....." Just after kick off. Cause if you dont I will.

Another good reason to have 'em transported to the colonies using their drumsticks for oars.
A good and valid one. Together with their inability to keep time with the crowd ( and the time delay casue by the speed of sound ), replace the drummers with a metronome played through the PA.
-
Any fool can see that the drummers start the same old songs (Rovers or Gerrinto 'em). Any other of our many tunes started by the fans are quickly ended by the drummers being out of time.
If your're still undecided, watch a home game on TV, they are awful. Could this be why we have such little coverage on MOTD?
Not just MOTD. for live games the TV producer kills the mic at the BBE. Some atmosphere we apprear to generate then!! Sweet Fanny Adams.
Also explains why we ALWAYS seems to be being outsung by 1 man and his dog in the darwen end. Never mind 8800 scallies or mancs

Practical point of view?
So how many chemists are going to be happy stocking this stuff and having 20 smackheads queueing in their shop, probably helping themselves to various other items whilst they're there?
And is the resident junkie going to nip down to Boots and pay £5 for a fix (complete with £3 tax) or is he going to ring up Dodgy Dave and get it illegally for half the price?
Chemists already have smackheads queuing for their medication. Sorry, should have said loitering menacingly.

What a joke, is this just the BBC trying to curry favour with the Royals?
I can really see people in Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham Leeds and the Council estates of London all rushing to the phone to vote for Zara, extremely appealing bit of eye candy though she may be.! After all three day eventing is the first topic on everyone's lips every morning!
These people you refer to havn't watched BB1 for years, they are watching Simpsons on SKY1.
BBC1, Royals, are you really surprised ?

Standing 3rd pillar along on the Riverside fills me with nostalgia but I have to admit that the new all seater stadium is far superior.

From an entertainment point of view. Now being a season ticket holder ( again ), I Attend Ewood to "experience" the effort, blood and guts fo the likes of Savage, and the Master that is Tugay. A pleasure to see with my own eyes.
No HD/5.1 Broadcast will ever come close to that experience.
Whats would stop me from going. The cost , thats a no brainer, you can afford or you can't.
And Seeing a performance without passion and skil. If the players cant show 100% for 90 mins, It leaves me with a sence of being cheated, and I dont have to pay money to feel cheated.

Wen t'indian on Longsight Rd. £6 for a pint of cider. Place is full of "look at me I,ve made it" types. Biriani was greasy, chicken dry, A "special" dish was no more than a small tray of curry sauce with chicken breast chunks. The other meal tasted nice, but again very small portion.
Should have gone Kiber, but as it was a Saturday evening meal, ...ah well live and learn.
Yep , tried it, and yes it is good flavourful food, However Hot it is Not. Ask for extra chillis, you will need em.
The people who run it are a bit too familiar and in your face.. sicofantic (sp), i think is the word.
