  1. I know that is an extremely condensed version of the general tactics and strategy as used in the "old days" but it is the best I can do at this time in the morning and my cocoa is getting cold. ;)

Thank you Fife for your time, I have a better detailed 'picture' thanks to you! :tu: .. I find it very intersting listening to the days of old - makes me envious. :(

  2. This type of lineup was used by all teams and of course gave a much greater emphasis on attack rather than defence, That is why football was more exciting to watch in those days and why there were far more high scoring matches than you get today.

I can't believe 5 played up front!

I would have thought more of a diamond formation from the 'Halfs' going forward.

Can I ask a silly question Fife or to any others (and apologies for being ignorant)? Did Manager's alter the tactical formations of teams during games or was this formation (1-2-3-5), pretty much it?

  3. Australia has announced its squad for the Kuwait ACQ on wednesday..

...and surprise, surprise, there is no Lucas or Emu and they are all domestic players.. :P

Squad: Clint Bolton (Sydney FC), Alex Brosque (Sydney FC), David Carney (Sydney FC), Steve Corica (Sydney FC), Alvin Ceccoli (Sydney FC), Travis Dodd (Adelaide United), Joel Griffiths (Newcastle Jets), Iain Fyfe (Sydney FC), Matthew McKay (Queensland Roar), Mark Milligan (Sydney FC), Kevin Muscat (Melbourne Victory), Stuart Musialik (Newcastle Jets), Jade North (Newcastle Jets), Sasho Petrovski (Sydney FC), Kristian Sarkies (Melbourne Victory), Archie Thompson (Melbourne Victory), Michael Valkanis (Adelaide United), Danny Vukovic (Central Coast Mariners). - SMH

  4. Dunno about that, but the list of call-ups is on the official site.

It says that both Benni and Aaron will be playing for SA against Namibia and that Lucas and Brett will be playing in the AFC cup against Kuwait. Zurab is playing a Euro 2008 qualifier against the Faroes.

Well, from what I understand, that is wrong. Australia will be fielding all domestic players for the ACQ game against Kuwait next week and latest news is that, most Euro-based players will be available for the Bahrain game in Sydney on Oct 11th.

  5. Didn't Crespo also make noises about italy?

    Or has that already happened?

The other issue is: Putin reclaiming many

industries back in State hands, how long before

a standoff between Putin and RA?

Really only one winner of that, no?

Is that a chink I see in the '1000 year Reich'?

I dont think so b/w, as RA (I'm pretty sure on this) has sold off most of his interests in the industries in Russia. I thought he did this a while ago..

    Philipl or can anyone confirm?
