I think a loan move would suit him and ROvers best. Surely a club like Palace, or other promoted clubs wouldnt sniff at a 3 month loan. If he's any good, we can take him back after/during the loan spell. No risk, then. Just harder trying to find someone who wants him.

Friedel Neill Amoruso Matteo Gray Emerton Thommo Ferguson De Pedro Stead Dickov
hate the diamonds, whoever, and whenever its used. The wonky midfield is just to show defensive/attacking lines rather than a diamond.
-
Saunders devised the new formation? Surely Rovers wouldnt have let that get into the public - it just undermines Souness' competance.
-
Its not Souness, its all Deano's fault. I heard he's getting ready to invade Paris, next.
-
Rovers: We're looking at a 30 year old who knows the game inside out.
Rovers Fans: HES TO OLD!
Rovers: We're looking at a fantastic young young talent.
Rovers Fans: HES TOO INEXPERIENCED!

I think Stead is deceptively stronger than he looks. And with his height, he can lean in where Cole woulda used brute strength. I doubt presence will be a problem. While I'm not comparing quality, Arsenal dont exactly have a huge forward, either, and neither did Barca last year.
-
I think more will be expected from Matt Jansen this season as a result of this.
My sentiments exactly... he rarely had a sniff of a run last season, and with good reason, we were sticking goals away fine. Now's a chance for Matt to prove himself. August - January should be the time where he works like he's never worked before. And lord knows, all the fans want him back, for reasons other than better results.
-
I thought that when I heard it on SSN. Wonder if that means we paid up his contract, and they paid the difference, so he could sign a 2 year deal rather than just take on his current contract? Might be plausible if the loyalty bonus was date-based, rather than playing for X years at the club.
-
Considering the few touches and passes he made, I wouldnt mind betting Gally getting the nod ahead of Stead, sitting behind Dickov, should Stead have a bad few games... I'm sure Stead/Dickov will start the season, tho.

37 in 100 apps and he trots off for nout...

WOuld Cole have renewed his contract if he stayed with us anyway? He probably would have retired or moved on anyway, so really, we have saved ourselves a helluva lot of wages and a loyalty bonus - dont get me wrong, would ratehr stayed, but there upsides to this I hope JW and GS take full advantage of.
-
Makes you wonder what Yorke is on per week, really...
-
Seeing as I wasnt around here when it was signed, I was just wondering if we actually know for sure if there was a loyalty bonus? And if there is, and Cole is that sick of Souness, then perhaps he was willing to drop it in order to goto Fulham. After all, at Rovers, he would take the 1mill bonus and prbably leave at that age - if Fulham have said they will give him an extra year, at 3million a year, perhaps he was prepared to do so.
-
I wonder if Yorke will have a new found faith from SOuey, next season, or if Jansen will get the nod more often?

*Woulda said Cole.
Odd formation, we finally get a left winger and we play him on the right?
Oh I see, Dean Saunders wants to?
Eeer, yes, I think he'll do well on the right... wasnt a typo. No. Me? Never.
*cough*
However, I've decided I now prefer this formation.

Now that the club has saved sopme cash with Cole, I'd bet that this is a window for Matty to get some more minutes under his belt. Stead and Dickov up front, with Gally or Matty on the bench. While Jansen hasnt looked a shadow of his former self, in all honesty, he's hardly had much of a run in the team to find his former self. The money saved on Cole will ( I think) go on loan wages for a player.
-
Just to wander slightly away from trialist talks, does anyone have any pics of the game itself? Interested on how the new kit looks.
-
There is now the case of a bright side if he does go. Despite seeiming astronomical at 55k, if it was that high plus the fact that there will be no 1million loyalty bonus, there will be some money left over. 1 million from LB, and hopefully a huge whak of what would have been a 55k a week payment, could get us a decent striker for the season.
-
Nice idea, but a bit transparent... they should both help Lucas neill with his tackling
-
I was simply giving reason why I wont, rather than just looking tight.
