We might be cr@p and we might not get another point this season but we WONT go down - not this season anyhow!

There is not a snowball's chance in hell of all four (Millwall, Reading, Wigan & Rotherham) of the potentially doomed getting 47 points or more.

That leaves me with a very uneasy feeling.

I wonder if I and others would answer differently if we had a more competent manager at the helm? Evans and Williams excepted I reckon a good manager could get a tune out of most of our players. Admittedly not all would fit into their system and some shipped out due to this and bring average but I wonder if a canny manager could do more with what we have then we think?

For example Mulgrew in a back 5 with Bell and another wing back might bring out the best in the players, or Smallwood alongside a passer/dynamic midfield partner pr Bennett in a role focussing on running. Maybe we have more decent pieces than we think for the right manager and system but with the wrong manager and a flawed system the average players are looking worse? Not saying big work isn't needed in the summer - I think it is - just thinking aloud or whatever the internet equivalent is whether such a clear out and rebuild would be needed with a more competent manager.

IMO Yes, A different manager with different tactics and a different mind set could have done ( and still could) a better job with this team.

Without all the tinkering and "square pegs in round holes" and attempting to play to other teams strengths we should be playing to our players and teams strengths. TM's worrying over cautious approach has worked massively against us this season and the trouble is he won't change.

Whilst I respect the rights of people to have their own opinions on Tony I would just like you all to remember where we were before he arrived and the previous few years of catastrophic disaster on a seasonal basis. Let’s just give a manager at least three or four years before any judgement is cast.

    I thank you.

IMO no manager should have 3 or 4 years before any judgement by fans, it simply doesn't take that long and besides we could be in the wilderness by then.

It's painfully obvious that his current tactics/style or whatever you like to call it is failing as is evidenced by the results and the repetitive mistakes week in week out.

This team (like most teams) is a reflection of the manager and many on this board can see the failings but as many have said he doesn't seem to see the problems.

Thanks to the introduction of "IFollow" I have seen every game over the last two seasons and it's easy to see that things are deteriorating on the pitch so my judgement on the manager is that he's way to cautious needs to focus on this teams strengths not the oppositions. I agree he's probably a nice guy but I'd prefer someone with fire in his belly who doesn't "big up" the opposition before every game, and someone who will stop the hoofball.

Smallwood gave away the free kick that led to their winner, I was screaming at the tele don’t foul him but standard Smallwood, he has no football brain.

the one thing that will hold dack back is pace/fitness, he broke through on the Leeds goal and had a clear sight at goal but slowed up allowing a defender to get a toe in, top class player scores there.

Our defence is woeful, can honestly say we need 2 new actual centre backs, a new left back and quite possibly a new rb. It’s a shambles. Lenihan should then be pushed back into midfield with Rodwell or reed, giving us some actual bite rather than the powder puff Evans n Smallwood. Armstrong is a one trick pony, knocks it on and tries to use his pace, doesn’t work at this level. Play him up top or not at all.

Bell needs to work on his final ball and I just don’t think he is quite good enough in all honesty.

New hard battering ram cocky striker needed to aid graham.

sad thing is most of the rovers fans can see these points need addressing but mowbray can’t, it’s baffling

    Nail, hammer, head.

"Danny is an important player for our team,” Mowbray said.

“We’re not a possession based, keep the ball, 50 passes team".

Well I'm sorry TM but instead of lumping or hoofing the ball forwards in the blind hope of finding one of our players all the time how about playing a bit of controlled football on the deck especially in the last 15 minutes of games where we are holding on to a slender lead. I am convinced that is why we concede late in games.

  6. This (in bold) is what annoys me about TM.

After first "bigging up" the opposition and saying how tough it's going to be, he then in the last paragraph contradicts himself. He does this every week and I fail to see how that can motivate anybody.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is relishing the visit to Wigan on Saturday. At his pre-match press conference Mowbray said

"I think based on the results Wigan have produced at home, it suggests it’s going to be pretty tough, They play as a team and they’re good with the ball. They’re controlled and ask questions of you. Wigan have some exceptional individual talent at this level, so it’s a game we have to really focus on. Let’s go there and enjoy it. We want to test ourselves. We have to play our game and let the match unfold in front of us, really. It’s difficult to predict how it’s going to be."

Mowbray added "We’ll make sure we carry a goal threat, make sure we know where the space is on the pitch and exploit it. I think they have very good technical players who can keep the ball well. They have a lot of quality in their team, but hopefully we have more athleticism. I think it will be a pretty tactical game, a good game with a lot of good players on the pitch. Let’s see how it goes. It would be nice to get the three points, however we might get them. Let’s go there and be positive and try to take the game to them if we can."

Mowbray also talked about the huge turnover of players at the club and the need for stability "The away game at Wigan last season, only Danny Graham started that game so that shows the turnover of players there has been at this club, We have had a huge turnover of players since then. I’m conscious that people think these are excuses but I genuinely think that on the training ground the players are still bedding in and the players are understanding the way that we play."

The Rovers boss is hoping to change the mentality at the club going forward "Those that have been here a while have to get out of the mentality of expecting another defeat and we have to change the mentality to a winning one rather than one of it being another tough game. It’s not easy to do, it will take time. You can’t just sprinkle magic dust on a team and they start winning, there’s a process you have to go through. Hopefully as quick as we can we can become a team that expects to win every week and we demand high standards of each other and you don’t play if you don’t reach it."

Thanks for the tip I hadn't heard about that.

By the way here's the reply I got on my complaint to Ifollow but the last line has me puzzled.

Thank you for contacting ifollow support.

We do understand the problem and we did have technical difficulties to show the full match replays.

We had passed the  message on to the club and we had got that sorted
    .

  8. Thanks Phil T and Perthblue02 for your replies, this is what I have found out..

They are not loading the replays at the time they originally stated that is why the screen on the latest match was black.

Once they load it to the system it's fine but the problem is I don't know what time it gets loaded. They said it would be available at 12noon UK time the day after the match but that's just not happening. 12noon UK time is 9pm here and I tried until 11pm and it still hadn't loaded but this morning its finally available. This has happened with the last two matches so I've sent them a detailed email of complaint. My concern is that when daylight saving starts/ends the time difference will  even worse with live games starting at 2am (Aus time) and replays allegedly starting at 11pm (Aus time) but obviously that last one could start any time in the middle of the night.

The only way to be able to see the game during normal hours is to watch a replay and it now looks like that will be 2 days after a game and then I have to get the wife to sign in because I don't want to see the score :).

All that being said I have seen every game this season and will see whole of the season and I haven't done that for donkeys years, so I am enjoying it but just brassed off with Ifollow.

  9. Is there anyone on line who lives in Aussie and has a subscription that can check on the replay of Rovers v Rotherham.

It was supposed to be available an hour ago and all I get is a black screen when I try to play it. The same thing happened with the Shrewsbury replay it wasn't available for hours after it was scheduled.

Anybody In Aus please check to see if its working.

    ]Cheers

Go to the results screen and the full match replay is there. No comms though.

On my results screen it shows a picture of previous match with the score and a written match report no video, and I'm subscribed for the full season.

Ok now I've found it , did'nt  scroll down far enough.

  11. Ok has anyone from Australia signed up and paid by card such as visa/debit and if so what information did you receive . You see I registered and selected the full season option then supplied my card details and heard, nothing. Normally it's usual to receive confirmation of purchase with copy of details on the transaction but I rec'd nothing and weirdly they only took $1.30 out of my account. When I sign in to ifollow and check my details it says no purchases and no package but it does have all my personal details .

I have contacted them but they waiting for a reply is like watching paint dry, so if anyone has joined what did they receive in the way of correspondence, if anything.

Blackburn Rovers won't be relegated as Blackburn Rovers no longer exist. They were infected with a parasite 6 years ago and it has complety hollowed out its host. It may look like Blackburn Rovers but that club died quite a while ago.

All we can cling to is the hope that some DNA still exists and one day it will flicker back to life.

As for the "give him a chance" brigade. You make me sick. He deserves no chance. Nobody at the club deserves anything bar contempt and criticism.

Love your passion and you are obviously feeling the hurt inflicted by Venky's like most of us BUT Tony Mowbray is not responsible for anything that has gone on in the last 6 years, he's just the bloke that's been offered the job whether we like it or not and as a man in a new job he really does deserve to be "given a chance". It's obvious now that he is our last chance so all we can do is hope that he does the business at least as far as staving off relegation.

  13. Precisely- deliberate sabotage.

Neil Warnock had been appointed all but sending him the contract and Cheston was over-ruled and the Agent's man turned up.

Coyle's track record is abysmal yet he has not been sacked.

    This is deliberate sabotage.

Just look at the most recent posts on the Brum game and the people saying "I don't understand why Coyle settled for a point against a beatable Birmingham and dropped us further into relegation trouble."

Anyway no logical arguments yet that we are not being sabotaged.

So you come out with a clear statement that we have to get relegated and leave it floating in the air but when questioned you turn it into "lets flip this around" and then claim its obvious sabotage and expect people to come up with reasons why it is not sabotage. As if things are not bad enough at Rovers and the range of emotions that have raged for years on this board you are only adding to the misery with statements like that. I know people respect you but with comments like that they'll soon lose respect.

  14. This weeks stooge is Tommy Spurr. He thinks we deserve to be in the top 6 already.

The, hopefully temporarily, deluded Spurr says “We’re all behind him and we’re all buying into what him and his staff are trying to do'' - why is it we are never actually told what it is that they are trying to do. That broad statement does my feckin head in.

    http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/13635821.Tommy_Spurr__Players_are_right_behind_Blackburn_Rovers_boss_Gary__Bowyer/?ref=mac

I assume Myers writes the scripts for the players and that's why he's too busy fire fighting to communicate outside of Ewood

Me too it's a statement that stems from failure and is designed to deflect a question or excuse a situation. The simple fact is that the only thing they should be trying to do is win games, succeed at that and everything else would fall nicely into place. No chance with the current set up though.

  15. ` Fair enough, if no one comes in then we're stuck with the clowns and their, at very best, utter negligence.`

exactly, and that being the case, isn`t it then best to hope they can get their act together? what`s so bad about me hoping for that?

That comment makes me cringe because everybody has been hoping that for the last 2 years and it's patently obvious that it isn't going to happen, and as to your previous comments re Venkys the fans have every right to say exactly what they think about such despicable owners and scraping out of relegation doesn't change that.

  16. I was as mad as hell by the end of that game especially with Dickov. Dammit he's supposed to be a professional footballer and he can,t seem to stay on side. I'd like someone to watch a replay and tell me exactly how many times he was off side. The worst thing about being off side is that after struggling to make ground into a good attacking position we surrender the ball and have to start all over again. On top of that there was a moment when he was in the pen area with the ball coming to him and he just stood there looking at the ref because he wanted a free given to pedersen I think. I believe that awas a real chance wasted ( and they were few and far between) because all he had to do was turn and shoot from close range, but he never even attempted to go for the ball. Let me finish this criticism by saying what many others have said "stop mouthing of at the ref" it's never going to work nor change anything ,just gets the refs back up thats all.

Now I really do admire Mark Hughes and I believe he will become a top manager but I have to say I can't understand why he did'nt change to an attacking formation at half time. In my mind he should also have taken off Thompson who was selfishly wasting attacking chances, instead of taking off Flitcroft. I am really puzzled as to why Stead did'nt get a chance when Dickov was obviously "out of sorts". The final attempt by Reid summed up Rovers day when he hurriedly scuffed it wide.

It's also about time the officials of the game cracked down on all the play acting and feigning injury thats going on even if it means looking at video after the game and handing out suspensions as a result if nescessary.
