  1. McClaren was on a sticky wicket as soon as he was appointed. He was 3rd or 4th choice, the fans didn't want him, and his managerial record screamed mediocrity. When you have one of Europe's brightest coaches (Hiddink), and a World Cup winning coach (Scolari) both being linked, and then saying no, a manager whose club has been bumbling around in 14th/15th place for years seems a real let down. The only way he could have succeeded was to win every game, and make the players play with a panache and style hiterto unrealised. The players have played a part in this mess, as they are too busy with their flash cars and exrutiating autobiographies to try and develop their game, and improve themselves. But the manager should always have the ability to shake that out of their players.

  2. I've invigilated at his former school-Mark Rutherford Upper. Its a right dump, and the kids were real scrotes.

Princess Francesca Lampard should get a bad wrist for the next game as well, as Gerrard seemed to show flashes of what he can do with him cramping his style.

  3. Flopsy - can you give me a vague idea what it's about? Ienjoyed Sin City and I'm told it's by the same guy.

Read 'Persian Fire' by Tom Holland. It is one of the best history books I've read, and it will give a good account of how the war started, the importance of Thermopylae and so on. The book also describes Spartans of both genders as 'anally proficient'. Fruity.

  4. we need someone who can:

    A. Mould a team and use decent tactics

    B. Motivate players, and tell them to sharpen up, or else they will be a former international (i.e. burst a few egos)

If there is another Brian Clough out there, please make yourself known, as the pathetic excuses for men that wear the white shirt need you. The likes of Pussy Lampard, Cashley 'the wardrobe hermit' Cole and Steven '5 good games a season' Gerrard need to be frightened into playing to the maximum of their potential. They need to know they have to work for their wages, to achieve more than a huge bank balance in order to gain respect and recognition for what they have done. Just because they have the bling, it doesn't mean they are worth £1 or a minute of the public's time. McClaren isn't the right type of person to break down the arrogance of the English players, which is fatal, as he has no tactical skill either. He should go. Now.

P.S. A Bentley should be on the pitch, not in the Wembley car park.

  5. Pretty men are the way to go.

I should imagine that is right to an extent, but would you rather a man who stand up and be counted and be able to defend your honour, or be rather filing their nails and watching desperate housewives?

Or to put it another way, Martin Corry, the Burgomasco brothers, or David Beckham and Christiano Ronaldo?

But I digress, Bentley played well, although his move to the left side was an error. Good to see him take over the set pieces from the utterly crap Richardson. Routledge did nothing, and England were desperate defensively.

  6. Yeah I agree Theno, but we were quite 'industrial' in that semi final. Any team that has a high work rate, and strong physical presence gets labelled 'dirty' unless they're Chelsea, in which case the likes of John Terry, Carvalho andEssien can do what they like. I bet our 'dirty' tag has cost us a few red and yellow cards over the past couple of seasons.

I've probably said this already, but I hate Wenger. He is a baby and a hypocrite. His whining because we dared to defend at The Emirates because of injuries, and his constant references to us as bullies are very grating indeed. Yes we were dirty in that semi final, but we hadn't the players to play beautiful football, but to re-enforce that view is harmful to Blackburn. And anyway Mr. ######, how many red cards have your team had since you came here? about 60? And didn't that nobend Bergkamp assault Nissa Johansson in two games and get away with it?

  7. Doing the commentary was he?

Anyway that dodgy tash was always ....... err ..... dodgy

"And here we are, in Soho with it all to play for, with the inititive with the plumber. He has got to grips with the situation and is forcing his opponent's back to the wall. But wait a minute, he has let his concentration slip and the homoner is dribbling all over the place..........and ooh that was a hard tackle from behind."

  8. For me it all stems from a game against Villa when Hodgson was manager. Stefan Henchoz does a foul that may have warranted a sending off in the first half with the score at 1-0 to us, and Green then proceeds to bitch endlessly about that decision, whilst we wallop them 4-0 or 5-0. Every time Henchoz touched the ball the moaning Mick gripes that he shouldn't be there, and even when the play is far away from Stefan Green goes on and on about how the game may have been different if Henchoz did get sent off. He is just one of those nobs who thinks that just because he speaks his mind constantly, it makes him some sort of 'man of the people' or whatever.
