  1. 98/99 will forever be the season where everything that could possibly go wrong, did.

Hendry coming back from the world cup and wanting a move. The other 2 Scotts coming back injured.

Bad, bad signings by Hodgson, and him subesquently not being able to handle disharmoney in the team

Sherwood's unprofessionalism, although he was still putting in good performances on the pitch

    Flitcroft's injury. Perez not settling.

Unfortunately sacking Roy became the only option. The biggest mistake of all though was who we replaced him with.

That October I made my first visit to Ewood to catch a Rovers/Arse match that finished 1-4, IIRC. Maybe my presence added to that year's malaise.

  2. Damian Duff's house on the market if anyone has a spare £2.5 million - and wants to move to the North East.

Nice looking pad though if anyone is interested in things like that. The photo of the billiard room gives the owners identity away.

    My link

nice catch MB.... the billiard room definitely gives him away--and is there any doubt which is the most beautiful shirt up on that wall????

  3. Sorry, I don't know how to do a link, but if you go on the website :- www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk and then key in 'minutes silence' into the search bit, a report together will picture will come up.

    Thanks for that, CLB.

  4. Went down to Ewood this afternoon. Just felt I had to be there. There are shirts, flowers and scarves around Jack's statue, I saw a Liverpool/Celtic scarf, a Burnley scarf, an Arsenal scarf as well as various Rovers scarves. Sat on the bench opposite the statue for a bit, thinking of poor John and his family and of Jack. RIP.

    Mum --

The scene you describe is a very touching but truly sad & beautiful scene. Would it be too morbid to ask someone to snap a picture of this scene at Jack's status for those of us that are too far away to pay our respect in the manner we'd like?

    Cheers,

    B/W

  5. Feeling the same way Bryan but it's an emotion that's so hard to put in to words. No offence intended, but surreal and pathetic sums it up for me, too.

I know what you guys are going thru--I got hold of the news at 10:30 Eastern Time Sunday. I immediately read thru the 12+ pages (at the time) of this thread, desperate for more info I checked into all sorts of news outlets --but to no avail. A horrible feeling overcame my stomach, like something had bore a hole thru it. The breaking point came as I reviewed the Facebook page they'd set up in memoriam. One viewing of the snap w/ his lad broke my heart.

I tossed and turned until 3:30 ET... in fact, i'm still sickened by it. These things are not supposed to happen in a supposed 'civilized' culture. Still, I apologize if my feelings have invaded this post --just wanted to share my feelings with Rovers' supporters.

I just hope that JT's family obtain peace and tranquilitiy during this horrible time.

  6. Ugh... Blanco is completely toxic.

Interesting clip there on YouTube... notice the guy Lucas brought down in the box???

Anyone remember the Canadian trialist Hughes brought in 2-3 years back? DeWayne DeRosario?

Apparently received an offer but decided to return to San Jose was it???

He's blossomed into a pretty useful player

  7. There was a report in the papers last week about a well know person who had been having an affair getting a gagging order to stop the husband of the woman involved from selling the story to the papers.

Something similar is happening over here at the moment...Bill Belichek, Head Coach of the NFL's New England Patriots was named as the 'third' man in a highly publized divorce in the State of New Jersey. Apparently, he'd known the woman since before she was married and they'd been having fertive daliances for a number of years, over a decade if the news articles are accurate.

Yea, that Belichek, that well dressed slob that roams the sidelines in torn clothing! Perhaps American can provide more details as he must live w/ this stuff on a daily basis.

  8. Claudio Ranieri could be a good bet at 12/1.

I can't see a new, foreign ownership giving the job to an up-and-coming English manager. I'm fairly sure they'll go for a relatively big name with a decent pedigree...Ranieri fits that bill, is unattatched and would probably jump at the chance.

OH yea! I see that happening, Champagne Football returns to Cockneylandia !

  9. My view on big Shefki???

C'mon back BIG BOY, we were just kidding! :(

I want it duly noted that I was against letting him go

from the begining. Heck, a blind man on a galloping horse

(now where did I read that before ??) could see that

Kuqi' effort was the cure-all for Saturday's ills?

It's unfortunate that our illusions of 'Champagne Rovers'

have evaporated and we are left to rue Kuqi's and Dickov's

    graft up front.

Anyway, perhaps too much melodrama-- it does take time to

adjust to the Premiership, Bennie hasn't been complete sh*te.

  10. Brad should be given a 10,000/wk raise just for being subjected to tonight's performance from those teammates of his.

Perhaps, as he was brillant. What was tugay thinking throwing Brad under the bus like that... ? But how much fault does Brad receive for setting up that crap wall? Or was the fault entirely Lucas' for half heartedly trotting past the ball thinking that Brad had it?
