I enjoyed it way more than i was expecting as well(and I didn't really like the 1st 3 much) definitely a film that needs to be seen on the big screen to really be enjoyed.

Theres a really good new documantary film out there called 'going clear' its a behind the scenes look at scientology and its pretty interesting/bonkers, L ron hubbard seems like a real piece of work, but his successor david miscavaige is a whole now level of vile. It was shown on hbo in america earlier this year but now the church of Scientology are doing all they can to stop it being shown anywhere else(needles to say that it can be 'aquired' online from the usual places)

Glasto seems a bit pretentious to me, though I haven't been, this is simply the impression I get.

I think it seems that way because of the awful way that its portrayed by the pretentious wet blanket bbc presenters.

And mike my sister and her friends have been working at and attending glastonbury every year since the 90s(and believe me they're deffo not middle class hippies)

I think Glastonbury's a place you should experience before judging it, its not all about the headliners(or even just the music) unlike all the other big festivals.

Really though, lord of the rings(movies & books) Game of thrones(tv show and books) are all great in there own right.(if you like fantasy that is, I know people that simply cant watch fantasy shows/movies, they just find it all silly) hopefully the next generation of starwars films will at least give them a run for there money in the fantasy entertainment stakes.

GRRM's involvement in the show has been dwindling. He didn't even write an episode this season. There have even been some veiled digs at the showrunners on his blog. However, he is ultimately the one to blame. He sold the rights of his magnum opus before he'd finished it.

Strawman. This is the standard recourse for apologists of the TV show. Understandably, they would have to trim some of the fat from the books to fit it to screen, but this isn't the issue. It's the pointless thematic changes they've made to the plot and its characters that are a betrayal of the source material, which frankly deserves so much better than cheap HBO fanfiction.

No, it's not valid at all. Comic books have a multiverse wherein there are numerous interpretations of the same characters and storylines. ASOIAF isn't a comic book franchise, it's a series of novels with one overarching plot.

At the end of the day george r martin has written and produced a lot of the show up until the last season and i doubt anything has been changed or cut out without his blessing(all be it maybe a little begrudgingly at times)

We were waiting on a red light at the crossroads in Nelson yesterday afternoon when another idiot cyclist rode straight past us all, ignoring the red light, straight through into the heavy traffic going the correct way at 90 degrees to us and causing chaos. There were headlights flashing and horns sounding and he casually took both hands off the handlebars and flicked v signs at the car drivers. It's no wonder drivers hate cyclists and would love to see them banned from the roads.

I bet the situation wadnt quite as black and white as your account of it portrays and I'm a driver and i don't "hate cyclists"

Yea i think mellisandra being there at that time is to much of a coincidence, i think he'll come back everytime he's killed in the same way that banner guy did(i think thats the character you mentioned, i cant remember all these silly names) mellisandra was there then also and took an interest in how he did it.

Im sure the books are great for what they are, but its been 5 years now surly tjats enpugh time to get your head around the fact that they're both completely different mediums or just dont bothwr watching them if they annoy you so much.

In regards to jons last words it would have seemef weird in the context of the show if he'd have said "ghost" as the dire wolves have rarely made an appearance over the years of the show, which is mainly due to money, technology and time issues.

As far as pemny farthings in general are concerned isn't that just the best way to see your mates at nights and weekends until you are old enough to get a horse and cart. It certainly was for me.
