Connor Thomson is also on loan at Barrow.

Checking now, for whatever reason Thomson wasn't in the lineup for Barrow last night (they were short a man on the bench, so maybe he's hurt?), but had started a game a couple weeks ago, otherwise sitting on the bench.

Looks like it was Platt's first start. Oddly came on as a sub in the 46th minute the game before, though was then subbed off in the 67th minute... Maybe hurt, though he managed the full 90 minutes last night.

Checking on our other loanee, Wharton, he started in Cambridge's game on Saturday after sitting a few after being subbed at the half in his previous start, which was a bit worrying. I certainly have hopes for the lad, but I didn't quite get the enthusiasm for throwing him to the wolves this year. Notwithstanding our defensive struggles under Coyle and him scrambing a goal in the League Cup, but a 19 year old who had reportedly had some injuries and I remember reading he had some tough games for the u23s this year too, so some time in League 2 should do him well.

Cheers for the insight. I didn't know we had another player on loan at Barrow. To be honest, I didn't even know who Matty Platt was, until I got the message about him from my mate. I guess watching the U23's and the academy teams, gives fans the insight into these things and good that we have posters on here, who do this.

Playing against men even at a lower level will toughen him up. He learn how to give as good as he gets physically and look after himself off the ball.

I have seen the odd conference game on BT sport this year and the standard is pretty good. Like you say, playing against men, will certainly toughen him up. I have asked my pal to keep me update on how Matty Platt gets on, for the remainder of the season. Hopefully being part, of a successful side will help, as Barrow have a fair chance of a play off spot.

  3. I have a friend whose son Plays for Barrow, who are flying high in the conference. He went to their home game with Tranmere last night, which they won 2-1 after being 0-1 down. He sent me a message this morning to say, they had one of our youngsters playing in defence called Matty Platt. He said he had a great game, so may be one for the future.

It is good to see he is getting game time, at a decent level.

The only time I've ever referred to Rovers as "Blackburn" is when I've been overseas with people who know little about the club or place. And even then it feels weird.

I don't know any Rovers fans who say Blackburn. Even oppo fans refer to us as Rovers most of the time.

I think most people will have made their minds up by now and will either trust this poster, or be guarded. I won't be posting anymore about him, as I have done my bit now.

So ironic that you had to edit your post due to a 'typo'.

I am sure we all make Typo's. However do we all do the following?

    1. Refer to Rovers generically as Blackburn?

    2. Think that we joined this forum 3 years after we actually did?

    3. Post around 100 comments in the first 5 years of membership and then suddenly start porting incessantly?

    4. Push as hard as you possibly can to find out if something that was posted as factual was in fact really done?

    5. Antagonise the bulk of the other posters?

    6. Insist you would post no more, but carry on regardless?

  6. Just read what that post said on 04/01/2013. In it when referring to Venky's he uses the correct version of their. However a couple of pages back, when referring to someone, he uses the wrong version THERE. It is all there for anyone to see and for me confirms that the 2013 poster and the current poster, are NOT the same person.

It makes you wonder. The user only posted during the January transfer windows of 2012 and 2013 too and also slated Shebby over Shaw in the poll topic between the two.

The plot thickens. Fancy only posting during those transfer windows and now he can't stop posting. He can't explain why either or possibly refuses to.

Jesus is it 6? Ya I think I opened an account here after I was banned from the official board for 1 month for being a little too vitriolic in my abuse of Venkys and their continued backing of Steve Kean :D

Anyway. They should have appointed Mowbray then :)

I find it really strange that you have made 387 posts in 6 years and about 300 of those in the last month. Would you care to explain?

  9. This is just an opinion and by no means fact. Venky's roll up in late 2010 so Mr X who happens to be running the club, although he never claimed to be the owner, starts to get a little twitchy. The reason for this, is he got the manager in Situ at the time of the takeover dismissed and ut his own man in. His own man though, very nearly got us relegated. With the backlash from the fans, Mr X decided to infiltrate message boards and the likes, as he recognised that fans were a lot more dangerous and interfering, than he though. He opened up an account on many forums. Most of these were opened in July 2011 just before his managers first full season.

Almost five  years later on Mr X Decided to announce he had retired. In reality though, he was just hiding in the background. He handed over his username and passwords for the Forums he was on, to someone to keep an eye on things for him. Suddenly having made around 150 postings in 5 years, the person, he handed the account over to, began to make many more posts on the forums, as things were getting a bit hot at the club and he wanted to impress his boss. . In fact in a few weeks, he posted more than he had done, under the previous poster  in 5 years. He started to refer to Rovers as Blackburn and nearly got rumbled with that one, but perhaps, may have just got away with it. In his most recent error though, he posted that he had been a member for 3 years, forgetting how easy it is to check. In reality the time on the board is double, but, but "heck doesn't time fly?".

It's only a theory and I have no proof and I won't be pushing for one, in case anyone asks.

It's 6 years according to your profile. To even know you would one day become Rovers Director of Football shows a foresight that actually makes you instantly the most respected poster on the site. However, you still have to agree with the 'seasoned' posters and site 'stalwarts'. This isn't the place for discussion, just agreement with the prevailing view. Or else.

You mean he doesn't know when he joined this board? He thinks 3 years ago and his profile says 6. I think you have been rumbled BDS

I still don't feel any reassurance that you are 'one of us' rather than 'one of them'. In fact I'm even more convinced that you are a mouthpiece for the dark forces that are running ruining our club. It would be more interesting if you did just come out with the truth about your interest in the club and the message board, so that a real dialogue could take place. But hey ho, you can just carry on posting pro-establishment guff, and reinforcing the impression that you are a stooge. No worries ;)

A simple questions about one of our club heroes, that you won't find on Google would do the trick. The last one I asked, was a bit too tricky, as it caught real Rovers fans out. But how about this one. What is the connection between Simon Garner and light aircraft?

I've always thought Bowyer would make a great assistant manager, or first team coach. Don't think he has the tools to be a successful first team manager. That's not to say he never will have the tools - with experience he could gain those - but he shouldn't have been learning his trade with us.

Looks like, what remains of the Blackpool fans, are getting fed up of him.

The world is a strange place. There will be somebody, somewhere who fancies Anne Widdecombe.  To me, that is as stomach churning as singing those songs.

Mr Widdecombe probably, but I think he is in the minority. I bet he doesn't state that he gets 500 letters each day supporting him about it.

Protest haven't lost us games. Crap managers have.

It's an odd one though. Like a dare to the protesters. Go on then, I dare you to chant Venkys Out in a game. Because as soon as we lose we can blame them for relegation, and take the heat off the awful decision making.

Not too sure who Burton's owners are, but if all the Rovers fans sing that they want them out, for 90 minutes on Friday, that should do the trick and we win Likewise V Wigan, as I think it is Dave Whelan's Grandson who is the current Owner. Another 90 minutes of all our home crowd singing Whelan out and bingo. If only it was that simple!

Baffling appointment, I have a bad feeling about this one although I really hope he proves me wrong. Underwhelming to say the least, for me we may as well have stuck with Coyle as this offers no improvement over what we had, take into account he has brought no backroom staff and I think we are actually worse off.

Also, anyone else find the "Head Coach" title slightly bizarre??

I am quite sure the head coach title was only because Senior wants it that way. I would have thought that the statement Senior made about have a list A and a list B more or less tells us that it will be him, not the manager, who will be responsible for the new signings.

In terms of Mowbray, I understand why some people are disappointed, but we have to give him a chance. He will be a change from the waffle we were fed from Coyle and the Cream cakes and Table Tournaments are behind us. From the little I have read, Mowbray wont take any nonsense. If he gets the players fitter and more organised, who knows. He has nothing to lose in my views, as most fans think we will be relegated and if he saves us, will be quite rightly hailed for doing so. The next 3 games are crucial and if we can get two wins from them, we have a chance, so a roll of the dice is fair.

Haha what did you post? (Feel free to PM)

The article had been uploaded and removed before I had the chance to anger myself by clicking it.

I said that his quotes to a degree were quite apt as he wasn't qualified at certain things as the article suggested. He wasn't qualified as a manager, but as his agent was running the club, he was appointed. He wasn't qualified as a wages clerk, but we was handing out £500 per week in a brown envelope to Matt Hocking. He wasn't qualified as a public speaker, so resorted to lies when interviewed. And also said, he nearly qualified for a spell at her majesty's pleasure, as he purged himself in court, after being caught over the drink drive limit, using his mobile phone and speeding, all at the same time.
