We played friendlies at Vitesse and Volendam in 1996, but haven't heard any details yet for the upcoming matches. Many English teams are playing friendlies in Holland this summer : Aston Villa, Ipswich, Sheffield United, Boro, Chelsea, Man Utd etc.
No, Man Utd will particpate in this tournament.
Blackburn Rovers will play two friendlies in Holland, probably on 6th and 9th August. Opponents to be confirmed.
The team will fly back to UK on 10th August, to play New Zealand on the 12th.
Just heard that Blackburn Rovers will play some friendlies in Holland between 5th and 10th August.
Has anyone got more information on dates and venues ?
Anyway, looking forward to these matches.
Has it been confirmed if the match will take place in Hamburg ? Or should we travel to the southern part of Germany where we also played some friendles in the last years ?
No, it still has to be scheduled. It was agreed between both countries to play a friendly, unless both teams would have been in the same group.
Match will probably be played in Eindhoven (20 miles from here)
Tough draw here, but look forward to meet Emerton and Neill during their trainingssesions in Eindhoven. The Socceroos will also play a friendly against Holland, Robben probably getting injured after meeting Football Legend Neill.
I am looking for Rovers home shirts from the period 1875 - 1992, preferrably size XL. If you have any offers, send me a PM.
Blackburn Rovers Holland
Famous for allways travelling
Last year there were also some rumours that Rovers would play a friendly in Bruges. Does anyone know if that would happen this year ?
Would be great to see Blackburn Rovers playing close to my home. Last time was at a friendly tournament in Arnhem (1996) together with Vitesse and Sevilla.
Thats poor. Out of the 700 at least 3 persons are Dutch.
Lets hope for a result, I don't like to travel six hours to see us get beaten by a poor side like Fulham
Blackburn have been negotiating with NAC Breda (the team who played Newcastle in the UEFA CUP) for playing a friendly in Holland. I heard that Rovers were asking too much money for this game, therefore NAC decided to look for another friendly.
