Regarding tomorrow, I do hope he sticks with a winning formula / mentality and goes for the jugular - I mean, why not just go for it at this stage of the season? If it works, then way hay, and if not, there's plenty of time to turn things around. I think we'd all prefer a balls-out, grafting and entertaining attempt to actually win the game, than a timid 'come and get me' tippy tappy don't hurt me buuuuuulllllshit that is often served up at away games after a break...

Whilst there was a buzz at the Sheff Utd game, due to the increased home numbers, I wonder what the noise might have been like had there not been a strong performance on the pitch..

In any case, pricing policy is one of the least well understood and most often poorly executed elements of marketing. What is clear from the debacle that is this year's approach to match day ticket pricing at the Rovers is simply that the buffoons in charge of this simply don't know what they are doing. It comes across to all (home and away fans) that the set up at Rovers is inept and amateurish, which hardly inspires brand loyalty, impulse buying (i.e. walk ons) or anything other than an opportunistic response when prices are lowered. 

I mean, does anyone actually care who the opponents are, week by week - its not as if we have Man Utd, Liverpool, Barcelona or Celtic rocking up here on a regular basis, is it? Nob End, meh!

A lot of managers getting the heave ho this week, even on the back of positive results - Colin Wanker and Farke two good examples. Shows other clubs have awareness, ambition and decisiveness at their core. Rovers, in the meantime, have Waggot, Mowbray, Venus, crap catering, dodgy dealings asset stripping the club for petty cash, players literally ready to walk for nothing, a total humiliation from a bang average competitor on their CVs and a stadium that is starting to look waay beyond its sell-by...

...And we sit on our hands and do feck all to make a change, or at least those in charge of the club do so...

Baffling. Predictable, but still Baffling

Well, we ventured down to the Riverside, with my 7 year old full of awe at the size of the stadium and saying how noisy it was. Downhill appeared to be the direction of travel for a while, and I did wonder whether the decision to go would be shown to be a mistake for a while.

On reflection, four very good goals (their early strike was clinical and an amazing finish) but how poor do Sheff Utd look? You'd have thought they'd had the 0-7 tonking on Weds from the way they capitulated. It made me wonder whether a glass-jaw back four is just a feature of the also rans in the division this season (although that's something we've had for years anyway...)

My daughter's summary? Meh - she said it was too cold, too noisy and just boring. Big question is, will something about the experience stay with her and bring her back as she grows up? Time will tell. I hope Rovers go on to more stability, but am not holding my breath with the clowns in charge across the club. Big up to those who organised the banner at the training complex - has anyone posted the picture on social media, so there is a chance it might wing its way to Pune and the Goldie Looking Chain mob?

Result? - yeah! Surprised? - yeah! Flash in the pan? - probably yeah..

You've certainly set out a clear, coherent and compelling analysis of the situation the club faces Rolo, and captured in your last paragraph a fair summary of how it feels to be a Rovers fan at the moment for what seems like forever these days..

Get real. The last time there was a 'protest' (Birmingham game at back end of last season) a little bit of rain meant that to all intents and purposes there was only me who actually turned up at the appointed time. In fact the prize for effort in protesting on the day came not from Rovers fans, but a Brummie fan who travelled up with a real protest banner.

The reality is that most folk don't actually give a shit these days and the only time most of ye will realise what a precarious position the club is in will be when it has gone. 

And, as so eloquently put above, what point in protesting when there is no-one with any influence actually listening? We might as well shout at the telly with the sound turned down like my gran used to when Tory politicians came on spouting their poisonous tripe.

Protest? Meh.. nobody has it in then for our once proud club anymore. Arte et Labore my arse.

I'm not really looking forward to Saturday now, despite it being my daughter's first ever trip to a game at Ewood. If we somehow get a result then it will paper over the cracks and allow Mowbraysaurus and Waggadon to ignore the complete dismantling handed out by Fulham. If we draw it will be deemed a 'good result against one of this year's likely contenders, and another cause celebre for the happy clappers. If we lose, which is the scenario I'm most worried about, it might turn ugly - not something I'd want a 7 year old to experience under any circumstances (not withstanding that I'm likely to be one of the more vocal complainants on the Riverside!!).

Plus, the weather forecast is for it to pish down between 2-3pm, so getting to the ground is going to be a soggy experience too... So, having got the tickets, maybe I may just exercise my consumer rights and give the club the empty seat treatment - after all, after last night's abject shit show, that would seem to be the least they deserve.

Yes. I lost my scarf to a couple of big Yorkshire tykes whilst walking back up Livesey Branch Rd near the Moorgate pub! They jumped out of a car that had screeched to a halt, shouted "give us your scarf!" (really!) and I was so surprised to be accosted I just took it off and handed it over - they laughed, jumped back in their car and sped off. I can only think that the small crowd meant there weren't that many people around to intervene, and that I'd somehow got ahead of most due to my long legs. Eeeh, them were the days..!

All I remember is the amazing feeling of hearing the roar of the crowd, the seething movement of bodies in the Blackburn End as play ebbed and flowed, and then the wonderful stream of humanity going up Livesey Branch Road after the final whistle.. I was hooked! I'm hoping that history will repeat itself on Saturday, whatever the result on the pitch!

Taking my 7 year old daughter to this on Saturday, for her first game at Ewood 🙂

I'm hoping the increased crowd will be treated to a decent show from the team, and that the buzz sticks with my daughter so she becomes a lifelong Rover through audio and kinaesthetic osmosis! (for those who are wondering what this is, it's just the feeling you get from being in a crowd - I can remember my first Rovers game back in 1973 vs Aston Villa for the 'buzz')
