  1. watford are doomed in all fairness and imo i think the other 2 relegation spots will be contested by charlton, west ham, wigan, sheff utd and fulham and it will probably go to the wire.

watford: are to far behind imo, have put in some decent displays but can't pick up any points. they don't score enough goals (12 all season) and with young on his bike it's curtains.

charlton: with the managerial circus at the valley they end up with smug face pardew who i just dislike!! they have a good keeper with carson between the sticks and a on fire darren bent could turn their season around but due to his lengthy injury and the squad being very weak due to some awful signings imo, they will struggle. the worst defense in the league by conceding 43 goals in 24 games however they did have a good result at fratton park though last weekend and had a clean sheet, it just depends if they can build on the result.

west ham: with curbs in charge and having the Icelandic backer behind you it's difficult to see them go down though it would be happy days if they did. they have a half decent squad and curbs is making the correct team selections and has bought well in all honestly with neill and boa morte to see them avoid the drop imo.

wigan: on a massive losing streak and things look to have gone tits up. i don't think they will get rid of paul jewell but if the run continues there will have to be questions asked. henri camara could maybe be the Saviour when he returns from injury but if they dont stop the rot soon they are going to plummet to the bottom of the table.

sheff utd: warnock is another i dislike :P if they are to survive, they have to win their home games at bramble lane which is a tough place to go to have any chance. they certainly look up for the fight as at reading suggests.

fulham: losing their captain boa morte was a massive blow. niemi is out injured for a while and the reserve keeper looks proper rubbish to me. coleman should steer the ship home alright but i got a feeling they will be down there come the wire.

so for my conclusion i'm sitting on the fence ;)

  2. With the injury to Oijer, should we be letting Lucas go?

I see on the transfer topic that Unleaded (bless you Unleaded, your posts during the transfer window are the reason I come to work :tu: ) has linked us to Samba from Berlin.

Until such time as Sparkie has a replacement for Oijer and Neill, I wouldn't be letting Lucas (or Todd for that matter) out the door.

    :brfc:

hughes has stated that neill will not be leaving until we have signed a replacement.

  3. Savage said on his BBC interview that he was happy to be captaining us for the first time but that he looked forward to giving it to our captain Ryan Nelsen soon as he is a true leader.

So I guess that confirms it! :)

That was Sav being Sav. A true gent.

savage also said "it was an honour and i thoroughly enjoyed it" :rover:

  4. In light of the Ooijer injury I just want to add a bit of praise for Henchoz. When we signed him I thought it was not a good move. He's probably played more this season than Sparky would have wanted. However he has been suprisingly good in camparison to what I thought he would be.

Yes he's slow but he still shows with his reading of the game that he's a quality defender who has a habit of getting blocks in when needed. I wouldnt want him to have a long spell in the side as he does get found out at this level with pace now but, credit where credit is due, he's proved to be a valuable squad player.

Fair play to Stephane and Sparky.

i'd agree with that post just to add for a free transfer he proved to be a great signing.

his pace leaves him vulnerable at the back occasionally as we have all seen but his displays on average have been excellent and to be fair with the injuries and messing about with our back for this season, we could be in a spot of trouble without him.

  5. I suggest that Mokoena is better off the ball than on it..... the complete opposite of Tugay in fact! I know its stating the obvious but its not as daft as it sounds either. He's limited on the ball that is obvious but his strength is in anticipating opponents moves and being in place to close them down / break them up. Such abilities never catch the eye but like Sav his opponents in midfield will know his worth as part of a team far more than any spectators.

    excellent post :tu:

i have slated the axe in the past, his ball technique wheather it's control, passing etc is useless to say the least but he is not the compete player.

he is though, good at what he does best, breaking up the play, putting the foot in etc.

he is limited and can only improve is certain areas but for the price we paid for him i'm not complaining.

  6. If it wasnt bad enough having the knob-cheese that is Peter Harrison causing rumblings with Lucas Neill for the remaining year of his contract, he's now kicked the Andy Todd situation up a notch:

    God I Hate This Guy!!

tbh he is just stating the facts.

todd was told he could leave and now he playing on a regular basis, i think i'd be confused if i was him.

the fact that todd is playing well is to either stake his claim for a first team berth at rovers or land himself a better transfer deal else where we can demand a higher fee anyway.

todd playing well is only benefits rovers.

  7. well pleased for matty derbyshire scoring his first goal!!

new years day in a local derby, he must be on cloud 9 being a blackburn lad!!

it was put on a plate by mgp but they all count and the celebration said it all imo, love it.

hopefully his goal will see him go from strength to strength and improve under the guidence of hughes.

  8. I thought Lucas played badly today - struggled to cope with Cotterill running at him and got very stupidly booked when he gave away a free kick in a dangerous position. That was liability Neill in the first half.

The second half was an improvement because he toned down his play, although he did throw himself in at one point after an hour or so when he didn't really need to. With less pressure on us from the Wigan team he was always going to look better, but it was a relief. It was also a lovely ball to Pedersen who timed his run to perfection for the second goal.

I think we do have to take into consideration his position. Left back is not natural for him. He does look stronger than Micky Gray but I think we have to expect one or two deficiencies from him when he is playing on an unfamiliar side of the pitch with unfamiliar players around him.

agree with that buddy all the way.

neill has been asked to do a job for the team and even though the performance against wigan wasn't his best, we won the game and it's probably his last game for rovers anyway.
