More chance of seeing a goal? Less chance of fakery?

Less stoppages could be a good thing. Especially if they are incorrect.

More honest players might mean more accurate referees.

Allow play to continue and only stop play after the goal to review VAR if the referee feels he is not sure. The ‘phase of play’ rule that was brought in for offsides might need to be gotten used to. In other words a goal must be scored within a reasonable (and pretty damned short) time frame from the flag going up for it to be considered.

    Grey, complicated areas.

I preferred it when the linesman put his flag up - and then it was offside tbh.

All to prove can't say I'm rushing out to buy a ticket on this one nor will many thousands of others.

Who would? Genuine question, I have no idea of names that would come to us at the moment, at the right price. Interested to see who it would take to get you to watch.

Not convinced but hey we've seen enough shyte over the past seven years to be not convinced.

Who the ferk is Adam Armstrong ??????

Adam step into my pocket for next ninety ?

Maybe I'm crazy, but I prefer to make informed decisions on signings based on performances in a Rovers shirt and by watching in depth, regularly.

Each to their own, hopefully for you he's shite. :P

  6. Barnsley fan at work really rates him, and would have him back in a heartbeat in their current predicament.

Although the stats from his time there aren't amazing, reckons he's more than good enough for this league and didn't get enough of a chance.

Looking at his stats shows league two is his level .......let's hope hes ready for a step up !

 20 goals in league one is now league two level

Just read the "How will VAR work" on BBC Sport. The majority of it sounds OK to me. I'm not too sure of refs having to form a square with their index fingers so the players and the crowd know he is consulting the VAR. But the general description of how it will work seems OK.

Hang on I thought we were doing ignorant and pessimistic on this site?

I wouldn’t have signed up if I knew people were recommending reading stuff to inform my arguments!

  8. Interesting to hear about Germany...

Tonight BT trying to manufacture a controversy out of nothing re: Murray’s goal ... so where will it end - AR to the VAR?

Human error adds a bit of frisson and “organicness” to the game. It’s hard to explain what I mean, but I remember playing ProEvo or something back in the day and EVERY single offside was called correct, it felt soulless and robotic (well it was!) I know it’s the rules, but it just isn’t football, and will stall the game.

Tonight, the VAR was just a broadcasting gimmick and a distraction, the referee didn’t even blow the whistle after each goal just in case!

  9. Well, it’s here, starting tonight at Brighton v Palace.

Don’t know if or when it will ever be used on a Rovers game, but what’s everyone’s feelings about it?

Maybe this sounds stupid, but I think bad decisions are integral to football, and I’m fond of them. Imagine a world where you never got a scabby penalty or an offside goal! A world where there were never any discussions over referee decisions. Well it’s here!

Just sat in Blues with Tim Farron after he bought a ticket for today’s game. He’s just bought everyone a pint, set fire to a Venkys picture and got 50 out of 50 on the hardest Rovers quiz I’ve ever heard. I’ve told him to take his Rovers shirt and scarf off and to get out. I’ve seen him off with my pitchfork. Fecking imposter. He won’t fool me.

    What about the tattoo???

I don't like him in the first place which makes me more cynical, but I've been very disappointed that someone who calls himself a Rovers fan in such a high profile position has been so quiet when we've been crying out for someone to help us out. Farron hasn't cut the mustard in that regard.

Probably needs to appear as vanilla as possible and avoid as much controversy as he can - you know what their like.

Did anyone ask him what he though of Le Saux and MGP? ?

He's been seen at Rovers so he's 100% factually a Rovers fan? Yeah I forgot that it was so unbelievably difficult to get tickets nowadays that only people with a long history of buying Rovers tickets can get one . The last paragraph literally happened with Cameron, when he pretended to be 'just your ordinary Villa fan' and it eventually turned out that he forgot whether he was a Villa or West Ham fan. One or two comments in 7 years is pretty much meaningless. If I was in the public eye, I wouldn't have shut up about it. As much as I don't like to say it, Alastair Campbell is a good example of a true football fan in the public eye, Farron isn't.

I understand your cynicism, but to be honest people find him dull enough without him harping on about a northern third division team all the time. Remember he was technically running to be Prime Minister! ?

If he genuinely, as you suggest, studied thoroughly ten years of football trivia and stats that he didn’t even care about just for a tiny bit of PR, rather than picking a subject he knew then fair dos to him - it’s all the more impressive.

Somehow I doubt it, but at the very least it’s a bit of exposure and fun for us so hey ho not all bad.
