v Ipswich Town (a) - 23/9/23
Tugayisgod replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Having defended Pears at times for some of the goals we've shipped this season, the time is right for a change as I feel as a whole the defence has lost a bit of faith in him and contributed to the goals we've let in. By the way, as much as I loved TK, you've obviously not watched some of the goals Luton have conceded this season -

Beginning to agree on that. Getting overrun in there atm. Also time for the Pears situation to come to a head. I don't know if the defence are losing confidence in him but Wahlstedt now has to be given his chance. It's crazy, because I really believe we have a squad capable of challenging if we can get the balance right in the team -

Or maybe he doesn't believe Pears has been as culpable as others for those goals. Certainly don't think it's down to ruthlessness! Also hope Sigurdsson is given time to get up to speed and not slaughtered on here after 10 mins -

Obviously as frustrated as we are atm. I thought last night was a time to maybe give him a rest as he didn't look 100% after the injury at the weekend. -

With stats like that , surely it can't be long before the chances start being converted. Be a lot more worrying if we weren't creating anything. That first 35-40 mins was the best I have seen us play in many a year. -

Needs game time as he may well be needed in the coming games with a tough schedule before the next international break. Makes sense to me tbh. Presume it also means Travis is ok -

Sigurdsson playing for U21s tonight 😁😁👋 -
Sorry, he was totally anonymous. Don't remember him breaking into a sprint once, just seemed to be jogging around and never getting involved in the game at all . Substituted with 20 mins to go

I think the best that could be said for Buckley tonight is that he's having a "quiet" game

Could maybe go 4-3,-3 with Szmodics as a false nine ? Not sure I'd even risk Travis with the busy schedule for the next few weeks. Can't afford to lose him for any length of time Pears Brittain Carter. Hyam Pickering JRC. Garrett. Wharton Hedges. Szmodics. Moran -

GB on contracts situation looking healthy. Dolan changing agents October 1st and should know by Xmas if he's renewing or not -
Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?
Tugayisgod replied to BRFC4EVA's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's not Szmodics I'll n particular I'm talking about to be fair. Moran had half an hour on Saturday and struggled admittedly to adjust to the pace of the game. But there's no doubt there's a player in there and will be big for us this season Same with Telalovic, came on at a time when Boro were having their best spell and spent most of the time chasing down the two Boro cbs. Had little to chance to show what he could do with the ball at his feet, apart from that through ball to sammi -

Sammi Szmodics, the perfect example of how you shouldn't write a player off after watching him for 45 minutes. Some players adjust to the rigours of this league quickly, others, although talented, need time. Let's not rush to judge some of our new lads too quickly -

Wasn't Carter also given the nickname "carthorse" by some on here after a slightly dodgy spell? Seems he's turned into a bit of a thoroughbred now 😁 -

Hoping Travis and Gallagher are ok after there knocks.. Trav didn't look great although JRC came on and did a great job in there. -

This Pears bashing is frankly ridiculous. Ok, blame him when necessary, but today he was excellent. A couple of really good punches from corners, great save 2nd half from O'Brien (I think), and also kept out a lenihan header 1st half. Did absolutely nothing wrong today -
WTF with that 4th goal.? Not a single Southampton player in his own half ? 80 yards to run there unchallenged. Unbelievable
-
Exactly 2-1 another balls up. If these are 2 of the best teams this season, we might be in with half a chance
-
This could be another 5-0 here. Absolute shambles at the back are Southampton. Never understood Martin being rated so highly, it's kamikaze stuff

I don't think many, if any , have any issues with the job Broughton is trying to do under difficult circumstances. I personally have a lot of time for him, think he speaks honestly and explains the clubs situation as clearly as he can
