That would almost make sense and give a formidable forward line going forward.  Mowbray clearly does not fancy any traditional wingers.

Gallagher, Brereton and Armstrong have all played out wide.  They would be completely interchangeable during a game -  each one could move centrally.  Nightmare to play against for a CB.

*Would definitely be a show my arse moment if we spent circa £10mil on 2 players though.

After all Fergie did it with Rooney, Ronnie and Tevez a few years back ?

  2. Mowbury might be thinking of signing them both so he has options, in terms of numbers and tactics. Could play either player up front on his own and the other as a wide forward.

Also it seems that Samuel is down the pecking order (not surprising) and Nuttall will go out on loan.

Wonder about Gladwin (does Tony think there is a player there)

Finally I assume Caddis must have taken up a non-football role at the club.

'Not going to be signing anyone now, far too late'....is this everyone's first transfer window?

Deals regularly happen very quickly in the final hour or two.

Don’t necessarily think deals happen quickly, pretty sure they have been happening during the day it’s just been kept quiet before being leaked out or the club releases information?

Middlesbrough have launched a new increased bid for QPRmidfielder Luke Freeman, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News reported earlier that Blackburn had seen a £4m offer for the 26-year-old rejected.

Interesting, could this mean Chapman comes here?

I’d prefer the cheap deal of Chapman and hope he fulfills his potential.

I really hope that Rich Sharpe doesn't have a clue what is going on.

I don’t think he knows very much, he probably just gets a few sound bites from the club in regards to what positions and what type of deal it is ie loan or transfer. Apart from that, it must be very little. He didn’t know anything about Palmer coming and didn’t know anything about Armstrong even though multiple sources said it was happening hours earlier.

I am not too concerned about that. You have Raya, Nyambe who have established themselves, Nuttal who has been given chances. Travis has never played a full season of football, I would like to see him at a League One club playing 40+ games and see where his development goes

I agree, Lenihan and Raya went out on loan for a full season in the lower leagues. If they get a solid run of games it can only be beneficial for them. There is only Nyambe what hasn’t, but in the season when he made his breakthrough Coyle was the manager and we didn’t have an established right back (Jason Lowe cannot really be called a footballer)

Well it looks like the McGinn ship has sailed, but it always seemed like a real long shot in all honesty. Hopefully TM has a plan B lined up (or plan A if McGinn were the B!).

Seems that we was considering the transfer, but for one reason or the other he’s not coming. Off to Villa by the sounds of things.

Might turn out to be a bit of a blessing, means we can turn our attention and finances towards a more pressing issue. Signing a striker and winger. We are relatively comfortable in the central midfield numbers.

  8. Lukas Nmech and Patrick Roberts are not on the bench for City today, so it could be one of those coming on loan?

Seeing as we are linked to the lad from Hibs, it must surely mean that Travis is going out on loan and maybe if we can offload Whittingham to free up space and wages. Some poster on here mentioned that Evans has only got a year left on his contract (plus high wages) which might mean he’s off somewhere?

The next few days will be interesting..

Would be a big mistake to loan Travis out, but we urgently need an out and out striker in the Graham mould or it will be a long season with DG only able to last 60 odd minutes each week. Big week - let’s hope TM gets his targets.

I agree on the Graham mould. Nuttall looked a little lost and his mistake when he could have headed it into the path of Palmer but headed it backwards which resulted in that Edwards chance.

A season on loan somewhere could be beneficial for him to learn the game. I believe Travis could benefit more playing week in week out. Similar to Lenihan to gain experience rather than being a back up.

We do need a winger which can stretch teams, someone like Chapman but with more experience of the rigours of the league.

  10. I think there will be a few outgoings and incomings at all levels in the next few days. Some surprising results which probably will cause some clubs to panic and splash the cash. Unlucky about the last min equaliser today but hopefully Rovers can remain in a strong negotiating position and sign some of his ‘a’ or ‘b’ lists for decent amount, similar with Armstrong.

Still think Patrick Roberts (loan) and Hugill (transfer) are targets but who knows what players we are targetting?

Feel as if Nuttall and Travis will be loaned out, along with Fisher.

I've mentioned Hugill a couple of times and agree he would be an ambitious target but would be an excellent addition, cant see it tho, same for Roberts who is a class above the championship.

Depends on how much West Ham are willing to let him go for? He’s only been linked with loan moves to QPR (not happening now) and Villa. Just read that he’s originally from Middlesbrough and we know that Mowbury loves a north east lad!

in regards to Roberts, maybe Pep would rather him play regularly in the championship rather than be a bit part player in the premier league. Fingers crossed,

I think Sam Gallagher would be a priority target. Experienced in the championship along with seeing photos on Instagram spending time with Raya and Williams (fits into the dressing room group)

  12. After reading Mowbury’s comments from this morning and yesterday evening, I’d like to think he’s got some potentially good deals lined up in regards to the forward positions. If Armstrong and Chapman are way down the list we can only speculate who’s on the a and b list.

If we are being fairly honest, I don’t think anyone of us would have expected Kasey Palmer to arrive on loan to us, believing him to go to a more ‘established’ club in this division hoping for promotion.

Only speculating here, but I wonder if Mowbury is going for more ambitious targets such as Jordan Hugill (he’s surplus to requirements at West Ham) and I do think the Man City youngster is Patrick Roberts (obviously got experience playing in the championship and SPL)

As others have said on here and regardless of what Rich Sharpe has said recently I think Bauer would be joining us, it’ll go down to the wire on that one because I can’t see him signing a new deal at Charlton when he wants out.

  13. First post after following the message board for a few years.

Hopefully the next week or so proves interesting and not disappointing. Like to see us go for Maddison and Armstrong on permanent deals.

Noticed Armstrong wasn’t included in Newcastle squad tonight, even though he was included in their last game. Potential move may be incoming in the next few days?
