  1. I don't believe that Mowbray is daft or losing the plot. I think he know exactly what he's doing which is to lower to expectations of fans to the point where mid table is an achievement.

This gives him more room for error when it comes to bad results. Look at the trend this way. Summer time is positive with talk of battling for promotion, spend big and the sort. Then talk of getting more supporters in the ground on match days.

Once tickets have been sold it becomes a case of well we'll do our best but everyone else is very good we might not compete. It's a case of sucker the fans for money, then extend the amount of time at the club through low expectations. Rinse and repeat.

The only reason he's here is because the owners can't get anyone else in. Any manager with ambition questions them from the off but they won't sell because it's easier to save face and lose the equivalent of peanuts to them in tens of millions a year than admit failure.

There is no way Mowbray will ever start Rothwell, Dack and Chapman together in a league game.

Then he needs sacking sooner rather than later for someone who will. It's a risk for reward league. You don't get up on 1-0 unless you have a team that is head and shoulders above the rest.

This is professional sport. The youngsters need to know the standards required. If they cant handle any cirtiscm, then they are no use to us.

Understand your point but a young lad needs guidance to improve and if their not getting that from more experienced teammates then it needs to come from the coaches or manager. If that's not happening how can they improve.

Only thing that'll happen is bad habits will set in and ruin them.

This year the likes or Buckley, Butterworth and Magloire should have been near the squad with a set pathway to break in. Instead they are ditched to the side for no planning short term or long term.

An example of this is Norwich last year. 3 of their back 4 where academy players with vital experience in the middle to pull it all together.

  4. A crazy idea but do you think you could play Rothwell as a right sided wing back? He works hard up and down but has so much more ability than a Bennet and neither are actual defenders or think in a defensive way.

it's almost a case of have someone who can attack but can't defend or have someone who can't do either.

He sounds like he’s on the verge of losing it completely with some of that.

We have been in football a long, long time. We see the deficiencies and where we need to strengthen. It is not as easy as getting somebody who is better than someone who is in our team who some people might want to move out of the team and someone else come in.

How much do they cost? Where are the free transfers that are better than the players we have in our team and how much wages do they cost. Everybody has a name and says 'why don't you and get him?' Well if I phoned up about him and they are saying he is £20million and we can't afford him so we have to move onto the next one. And if we phone up about him and they say he is £10million well we can't afford him. Why don't we swap Tyler Magloire for the centre half at Rochdale, whoever he is, and stick him in our team and see how we get on?

"You have to find players who you feel are better at doing the job. And I know people might say 'I could be better than him' I can feel it, I don't read social media or the newspapers but I can feel by the angles of the questions then you have probably been reading that. And if people have been asking those questions well it isn't that easy.

"It is tough to find people who are better than the ones you have got for the money that is in your budget to improve your football team. We can all just sign players but is anybody any better? Are they going to improve? That is the job and that is how hard it is.

"Let's see how we go and trust the players and try and make them better and improve them. They are good lads, they want to work hard, they want to improve and they want to get better, they want a winning team and so do I.”

When your on the salary he's on there is no excuse it's success or failure, no middle ground and without the defence being address adequately it's a failure. It's a failure to commit the majority of your budget to a striker in two successive summer windows.

We've probably got 5/6 genuine forwards, 12 plus midfielders and 6 recognized defenders. You do a poor job you get the criticism and the sack simple as.

I really don't get this element of Mowbray's management.

He treats older players like they need to be protected and then drops bombs on younger players. Surely it should be the other way round

Easier to bully young lads who are desperate to get their career going. They'll put up with the bullshit as they don't usually have anywhere else to turn

I think there's a strong argument for a whole new back 4 - although I think Nyambe should be brought back at rb.

Even Lennihan is replaceable.  Which leads me onto to Dack - poor preseason and pretty anonymous yesterday.  Time to sell?

I think the time to sell Dack was two months ago when time would have been available to source and persuade new players to join. I know now that if he was sold tomorrow the money would disappear or be stated as already committed to what's been brought in already

He did a good job in the first half of the season. He did a bad job in the second half of the season. Overall, a decent job all round as we stayed up relatively comfortably in the end.

However, harking back to results in 2018 isn't much use when we've been struggling for most of 2019 and he is making the same selection mistakes again and again. That's the concern.

it's too early in the season to call for his head, but certainly after, say, ten games we should be in a position to see if he is progressing or is carrying on regressing (which we have been doing for six months now).

The only issue I would have with that is that on current form with the defence we have after 10 games the team could be relegated. That's not to overreact but would you trust these lot to drag themselves out of proper danger and fight for every drop ball, take a kick in the face, foul play, anything to win games to get points needed for survival? I wouldn't.

He get the rest of the window and a game or two before it's nailed on sacked for me.

  9. Love how individindividuals think that this is a reactionary decision to suddenly not back the manager.

Before yesterday's game everyone knew the defence was not good enough and certain individuals aren't good enough to play yet they are doing. Why wasn't defence focused on during the summer?

To many got carried away with dark favourites to surprise the league or the talk of its alright we'll score 4 they score 3. Truth is that Rovers are in real danger of being surprise relegation contenders and this situation feels exactly the same as when bowyer had the team to score goals but couldn't defend for toffee.

That was down to the manager and this situation is the exact same. If the manager can't or won't fix the issues in defence he should go. If he's not allowed to then this famous Mowbray the honourable should kick in and he should walk. He'd get offers in league 1 to build again under a stable setup.

Also this idea of instant results. I think it needs to be realised that even though we are spending millions a season on players. Rovers are one decision away from being Bolton. That is venkies walking away and wanting their money back. That's why it's more important than anything to get the promotion money to the premier league to get into a more stable situation.

  10. Simple matter of this transfer window is that if no quality championship centre back isn't brought in then it's a failure doesn't matter if we sign the 4 best attacking players in the league.

I'd rather quality over quantity we only needed 4 quality players this summer to push us towards top 6 I'mnot bothered on the amount that is spent whether it be 10 million or 10 pound it's about improving the team. No centre back. No improvement simple as.

  11. Would there be any chance of getting the United young centre back who was on loan at villa? As they've seemed to have signed a couple permanently already. Not going to attempt his name but he's quick and can get about. Possibly a loan deal. It would show intent and I can't see any other premier league club except villa looking at him but they've already signed a few.

  12. Not being funny or anything but this idea of players mentoring other players and almost teaching them how it's done. What's the managers role then? To hand out biscuits?

Too many look at him as nice and think that's all that's needed. If he's sold the best goalie at the club with no real back up plan then it's suicide.

Again defence doesn't seem to be an issue for some reason. Guess we are going down the you score 3 we'll score 4 route which is piss poor management.

Just waiting for the usual "we need more supporters in the ground to push us on" sorry but if you don't show ambition on the pitch how can you ask people to show commitment off it.

All I want is the club to get back into the prem so that Venkys and Mowbray can jog on. He accepted mediocrity in January and is doing the same now.

Charlie Adam is basically Danny Murphy. Both bold, both on the decline and both looking for a last payday.

  13. I think people are judging Raya on his age instead of his ability. Brilliant at point blank reaction saves. Terrible at crosses and kicking. The crossing part has to be mostly natural instinct it's not just catching the ball but being willing to get flattened and he doesn't come across as the sort to take a smash to claim the ball.

Doesn't help with an under qualified coach either but when similar errors are made after 100 games then you've to question the player himself.

Any chance the goalkeeper could be the lad from Brighton who was on loan at Wigan.

On Johnson. A good player whose experiencedat the level. Brings power and technique. Smallwood must be going now surely.

Goalkeeper. Centre back and Striker are the areas that need sorting now.

  14. From what I understand about the situation at the club. You can't really paint the manager in a great light

There's the fact that he came out just before the window and said he wants to strengthen the defence and bring in fresh exciting signings and has since retracted on the defence being an issue which certainly makes me question his honesty or his suitability to progress the side.

There's then the situation in January where speaking for myself, I said he needed to spend the money if it was available because being a handful of points away from 6th was a position which would be difficult to get into again. Instead no one was signed and we went on a run which to me should have sacked the manager, 3 points out of 30+ wasn't it?

Again if the manager is being offered high amounts to spend and he's choosing not to spend it then I'd ask why? He might not be here come December so why is it so comfortable to think it's alright I'll bring in a few lower standard players to bulk up the squad and we go again. It's a cut throat industry he should be begging for every peny to improve the team in anyway possible.

Also, Raya is being used as a scapegoat because it's easier to deal with a younger less experienced player than a Scotland international who couldn't defend in league 1 but can take a decent free kick. Rovers should invent a role where they can have role on role off subs and just bring him on for set pieces.

People on here who claim that everyone complains to much remember that the club are trying to shift season tickets, it's convenient that we are going to make quality signings as the tickets are released for sale. Supporters are being taken for mugs and if you want to sit there being a mug then happy clap along.

Just need bowyer back now. Maybe he's already here in disguise.

  15. Liverpool got 10+ million for their third choice goalkeeper called Ward. If Rovers sell Raya for 2-3 million then they deserve any stick they get. I don't think he's amazing but at 23 he's worth a minimum of 5 million at least on potential alone.

If brentford can't afford that then jog on. Could someone like Walton who was playing in the championship last season be someone as a loan target with any money coming in going on outfield players.

On Adam. If we sign Charlie Adam, why have we signed Stewart Downing? Both bring the same qualities to me. Good technical ability but lacking in physical attributes so can't both play at once.
