No matter how youthful the lineup (and I count I think 3 or 4 players who have sat the first team bench), losing 7-0 to fucking Charlton is a very poor result. They're literally not even in the same league. Even our u18s shouldn't be losing to them by that much.

Just to clarify, I was not making excuses for them.  It is a diabolical result.  The majority of my previous post was posted before the game, I added the single line about the result after the game

aparently we are skint or won`t spend any money,so it`s pointless appointing a scout unless he knows the lower leagues,as our new scout came from man utd i doubt he even knows there is a league one and two,as always,if he is good at his job and has contacts,he won`t last long here, parke did`nt take long to depart and he certainly knew his onions

He might know the Polish lower leagues 😉

his role is Football data and video scouting. Player analysis. Live scouting across the United Kingdom and Europe., so I would suggest this is 1st team scout whilst we appoint a 'Chief Scout"

Never easy to tell with Rovers, if rumours were true of a power struggle between Park & either Gestede &/or Owen when he was Head of Recruitment, it may make some sense to employ someone with less seniority (Senior scout rather than a "head of" or "chief of" etc").

I may be putting 2 + 2 together to get 5 here, but also interesting to note that both Owen and Sadowski have worked in the past for Lech Poznan in Poland, albeit at different times

  4. Not sure if this has been mentioned but we have a new "Senior Scout"

I am not sure if this is the much awaited "Chief Scout" to replace Park under a new title, or not

Normally you would look at someone who spent 7 years working for Man Utd as being a positive, but looking at their recent transfer business, I am not sure that is the case anymore

Either way, I look forwards to seeing him leave for better things in late May

26 teams in PL2 do they play 50 games or do they only play each team once how does it work?

    https://www.premierleague.com/premier-league-2-explained

Those teams will be divided into five pots based on performances over the past three seasons.

Fixtures will be determined by a draw made according to clubs’ positions in the five seeded pots.

There will be 20 Matchweeks, with each team playing 20 regular-season matches throughout the season.

Teams will play each club in their own seeding pot once, as well as three to five teams in all other pots either home or away.

Results (three points for a win and one point for a draw) will generate a table ranking the 26 teams. After the regular season of 20 Matchweeks has completed, the top 16 teams will qualify for a single elimination playoff.

Teams will be drawn against each other based on their league positions, for example the team finishing first facing the team that finished 16th. These will be one-off elimination matches with the higher-seeded team at home.

In addition, the teams finishing the regular season in the top 12 will be invited to take part in the next season’s Premier League International Cup competition.

Throw in ledley King and woodgate.  We had some incredible depth at centreback

Was a shame for both of those that their bodies seemed to be made out of something no sterner than soggy Weetabix (as was Jones)

This is Rovers tinted glasses. He's not even playing for England regularly or doing it at a top team. He has the potential to be better than Carrick but already "some distance better than prime Carrick" is ridiculous. Players go off the boil (not that I think he will) or end up played out of position at the wrong club. Where did you rank Jones when he left us for United? I bet you had him as above Adams

I do not think it is, I just think it is having an eye for a player.  But you are of course entitled to your own opinion on that

Jones, I had as having the potential to be certainly a regular England squad member, and possibly a regular in the England team, given the relative dearth of centre back talent available in a post Campbell, Ferdinand, Terry world..  Obviously injures put paid to that

As for above Adams, no.  He, like the other 3 I mentioned were genuinely some of the best in the business during the height of their careers

I'd say Michael Carrick was the last English player that Wharton can be compared to

    5 hours ago, Neal said:

    Better than him IMO

Wharton now is superior to Carrick in his prime by some distance.

Carrick was a great player, misused by England due to an obsession with fitting Gerrard and Lampard into the same team, but he was neat and tidy, rather than playing the line breaking passes that Wharton does

I understand fine, but your case is specific set of circumstances involved including world politics, a war in Ukraine involved 2 countries, etc but Its very different Venkys owners and why they won't reinvest huge amount and using sale money to cover the club debt.

I know the Chelsea and Roman case very well and the circumstances involved why he was forced to sell the club, the football authorities won't do that with Venkys

How would you feel if you didn't eat breakfast this morning?

  12. 10 minutes ago, chaddyrovers said:

But as I said original it was unique circumstances and the situation with Roman and the politics situation.

The Football authorities aren't going to forced Venkys sell it cos they weren't invest money into the club like we all want. That is what your post doesn't take into situation with the war and without getting too much into that money from the sale of Chelsea is still stuck in the bank and our situation with the Venkys which is utter and completely different

You have either not fully read, or completely misunderstood, my original post.

    Try reading it again

Yes, which is why I started with the first line that I did

Purely in reference to the bold bit, See Roman Abramovich

If it is the will of the authorities to get someone gone, then it happens

However in Rovers case (and indeed in most cases), the authorities have no will to do this

And whilst it probably will never come to fruition, apart from as some neutered, watered down version

But your question was not about general (or specific) circumstances, it was how, and I answered the question asked

Vare is a midfielder, and looking at the lineup on google it suggests he was playing the Travis sort of role. Done well to bag 2, and that makes it 3 goals and an assist in 7.8 league games (equivalent minutes, 11 actual appearances) for the u18s this season. Only 17 years old. Made the bench for the seniors against Preston. Could be one to watch?

Obviously I didn't see the game, so I can only guess, but I was under the impression that Vare normally plays more the Szmodics role, and Farkas is more of a playmaker.  So its possible the google line up had them mixed up based on their squad numbers?

  15. Starts this weekend for

Saadi - lost 1-0 - Saadi was withdrawn after an hour with the score at 1-0 - game was played on Friday afternoon

    O'Riordan - won 3-1

    Eastham - lost 1-0

    Barrett - lost 1-0 - Barrett saved a penalty

    Honorlost 2-1

    On the bench

Garrett - drew 1-1 - Garrett came on for the last 15 minutes - NB this was under caretaker manager Andy Crosby

Batty - lost 2-1 - named on the bench on a return from injury

Not involved in matchday squad - All due to injury

    Vale - won 2-1

    Olson - lost 2-0

    Goddard - lost 3-2

    Montgomery - lost 3-2
