Don’t think anyone would pay decent money with Wharton in the form he is in this season

Nowhere near 1st team ready for prem, he can tackle but shows no willingness or gut busting on defensive positioning, despite essentially being a DM (opposition must look at him and know they'll find space behind), shooting on goal is awful. It's just his ability on the ball creating space and passing. Doubt they'll offer more than 5-8m. Compare him to say Alex Scott who has a direct attacking threat.

That game just showed to me when we run out of legs are defending from the front is rendered useless and the backline exposed. We need a no9 and reinforcements. Dolan is a perfect reinforment in my opinion not a starter.

The boys against men thing feels more true when the ref doesnt penalise anything, annoys me when they approach 'derbies' different to other games

  2. Should have got a left back recruited if batty isnt being fancied, i don't think Trav is an awful RB to be fair.

Time telalovic did something off the back of 2 hat tricks in the u21s !

Gunna be a tight affair I think as we're weakened.. Hope wahlsted has a good game. Dolan should be fired up as ever vs Preston.

Im up in the lakes for the weekend, wish i could of got the fam too stop off for the game! (Come from down south).

Funny feeling we lose this one, Swansea are a weird side.

I really don't like the RB at RW, RB at CM and CB at RB (Hills main position is CB who can also play RB)

With hyam out I'd switch it to keep it simple:

                               Leo

    Brittain      Carter    Hill     Pickering

                    JRC         Tronstad

    Moran           Szmodicz          Siggy

                             Dolan

Argueably JRC was never a right back  Hill is good there, Brittain also looks a very adept RM. It's working why change it.

I think we'll beat them would put wharton in smodicz role and smodicz in over dolan.

We've still every chance of being high up the table come Christmas

  4. Very dissapointing result, a few observations.

I felt the goal should have stood, just read it was the same ref who allowed the goalkeeper handball unbelievable.

We must be worst in league at scoring from crosses into box/set pieces?

JRC inneffective in midfield, though some promising moves.

Travis v inneffective coming on against a team who'd parked the bus after scoring, pointless sub.

Tronstad very effective imo, some positive forward passes. Would like to see more of him.

Telalovic at least gave the ball to a teammate everytime he touched it. And he did manage a few touches this time.

Sick of seeing dolan do fancy tricks just to turn backwards, whats the point of tricks if you never beat your man. Again so inneffectual. Markanday has looked ok. No idea how he managed to win so many high long balls.

Siggy was selfish and had two players to square it to. Must feel a lot of pressure to do it himself though.

Hill looks good, keeper didnt put a foot wrong but looks happy to play risky short passes, will get caught out.

We need to start winning a few...

He definitely does have something about him. The main concern is not him as a player but the imbalance across the front line. He thrived last night as a number 10, he is slow but technically really gifted and he struggles to have that same influence from out wide, even drifting in. Problem is fitting him and Szmodics into the same side when they both play in the same position.

Going off yesterdays showing he'd be a better #10 than szmodics, just edges him on technical ability, szmodics wouldnt be wasted as a wide forward imo. Can siggy play cf?

Push Brittain up to where Hedges plays and play JRC at full back where he's excelled.

Not the worst idea.. brittain can beat a player, great cross on him. Quick footwork. JRC played there in youth how come he's never had a crack at senior level?

Hedges with end product would be quality, i think team is better with him in it in the build up, just he fluffs his lines every time.

JRC may come good in the middle but definately needs a run of games which he won't get barring injuries.

Siggurdson a shoe in on the left hopefully.. excited to see (i feel a lot hangs on it) i hope this means we just see dolan for last 10/20mins to chase out games

                     Pears

    Brittain Carter Hyam Pickering

                Travis Wharton

      Hedges Szmodics Moran

                   Gallagher

Subs: Wahlstedt, Wharton, Gamble, Buckley, Garrett, Tronstad, Dolan, Leonard, Markanday

Agree this will be team but Hill for Gamble on the bench maybe, is Ennis injured? hope we manage x2 good forward players (Hedges and Gallagher replacements) tomorrow and beat Plymouth - would be a very promising start to the season if so going into the break.

Guessing the JRC playing further up experiment didn't work.. Could of had a RB cover as opposed to RW. Shame, he is injury prone though

Just got back, great comeback, feel like we need to just focus on scoring more than we concede to win ffs, ala Liverpool...

Let 's change it up next week and attack the fuck out of Hull.

    Gallagher

    Hedges Szmodics JRC

    Wharton Travis

    Pickering Hyam Carter Brittain

    Pears

    Yes I'm still pissed...

I'd play this, Brittain and JRC are a strong right side and just we're too weak not having trav/tronstad in middle, and Wharton seems to be only one that can unlock defences from nowhere. Would swap Ennis for Gally though. Still need a striker, i think Carter is very up to it. Can hedges play on left, doesnt seem super effective as an inverted winger.

He looks too old to be refereeing anything other than a Sunday league game! He was blowing out of his arse for most of the match.

Anyway, tonights's ref is Tim Robinson. The same guy who reffed our cup games with Leicester & Sheff Utd (where he failed to show a 2nd yellow to Jack Robinson). He also took charge of our games with Coventry & Bristol City (both away) earlier in the season sending off Jake Garret & Daniel Ayala in the process. Garret's was subsequently rescinded and, imo, Ayala's was a couple of soft yellows. This f*cker owes us one!!

(think I'll also add this to the match thread)

This aged quick after todays performance.

  10. In some ways I felt we played worse first half of the season, but got better results / more luck.

Last quarter has felt like lady luck has completely been against us, ever since the O'brien transfer fell through (which lets face it, despite being ineptitude was also bad luck). VAR would have given us 4 extra point in the last three games. Plus a couple of reds? but we haven't played great either.

Three sucker punchers in a row... can't believe it. Awful refereeing mixed with a blunt strike force. Just hard to watch.

Silver lining is amazingly we're still in it. Luton will probs take their foot off the gas as soon as sheffield united pick up a point.. 4 points could do it??

edit.. I turned it off (in wales today) so didn't see Burnley celebrating.. almost forgot, gods sakes even worse, Barnes has got to be up there with most hated players ever. scumbag and bet he handballed on purpose.

  11. Would have been nice to have a prem quality ref in the quarter finals of the FA cup... Was shocked when the Anel challange on Brereton wasn't given (more frustrating we nearly signed him and they hijacked it, yet haven't even paid the fee yet?).

Need to bring fresh legs on up top when the press stops working, agreed the subs changed the game, thought our defence was doing fine. But other times this season it has worked well at shutting it out. Just better if they weren't two rusty players coming on Shame but thought both teams looked pretty good today - was a good game. Was super excited for a trip to Wembley.

Now let's smash the league and hijack 2nd place after their points deduction! (which they'll probably get next season after getting promoted, sods law of football)

Nisbet turned Millwall down. A fee of £2.5m was accepted by Hibs. He's not training with Hibs at the moment, so I assume he will end up somewhere before the window shuts. Apparently, Nisbet had agreed terms with Millwall and was travelling for his medical. It sounds like another club has come in for him at the eleventh hour.

Nisbet scored 7 goals in 6 games for Hibs this season after returning from a ruptured ligament injury. His past record suggests he knows where the back of the net is. I wouldn't mind us going for him, but I'm not sure if our budget would stretch that far in this window.

We should be all over this.. it was stated he turned it down as wanted to stay in Scotland (probs wants Celtic/Rangers move), so maybe we're close enough compared to London to entice.

Then again I though goodwillie looked amazing before he came 😂 and that Watt
