You are replacing squad members who've left, with existing squad members...and claiming we have a stronger squad?
Hedges brought in because Poveda was injured, Giles because Edun and Pickering was injured etc

Let me get this straight, you're more confident in the defence where we have lost 3 players and replaced 1? That's a baffling stance but at least your prozac works.
If Caulker and Hyam were to come in

Rothwell - not replaced - Szmodics totally different type of player and worse anyway
Nyambe - early days but possibly the only half decent bit of business In the window. No worse.
Lenihan - not replaced - Coventry lad possibly a downgrade IF he comes which is probably doubtful anyway
JPVH - not replaced - Caulker- you must be joking
Khedra - not replaced
Poveda - not replaced
Johnson/Davenport - Morton might be a slight upgrade but none appear to be first choice picks
Giles/Zeefuick - not replaced
If we were deliberately trying to mess up the transfer window we couldn't be doing a better job.
Rothwell - Dack
Poveda - Hedges
Khadra - Markanday
Giles - Pickering
zeefuik - all Round pointless addition
The narrative we aren’t replacing players blatantly ignores internal replacements
-
Confidence now compared to confidence this time last season
defence - more confident
midfield - similarly confident
attack - more confident

Brereton isn't a winger, he's a wide forward, same with Markanday I believe.
But they both occupy the same areas of the team

You have to be kidding.
Lenihan and JPVH v Hyam and Caulker.
And all this crapola spoken in general about how the reason there'd been no signings was that we had to take a bit longer to ensure we got "the right sort of quality" in.
Absolute joke.
I’d be more confident in
Wharton, Ayala, Caulker, Hyam, Carter, Phillips as our defensive options than I would’ve been in Lenihan, Ayala, Van Hecke, Wharton, Carter this time last year

Think If we’re going to compare the squad we finished last summer with and then squad we finish this summer with we need to consider perspective, how how was JPVH perceived Sep 1st 2021? If I were to do a H2H squad comparison of how confident I’d be in the squad we finish this window with to how confident I was in the squad we finished last window with I’d expect it to overwhelmingly favour this season.
-
Depending on who the 3/4 incomings are I think we’ll probably finish the window just as strong as we finished last summer, don’t see any reason why we can’t compete for playoffs, all a test of how good JDT really is

Let's say we bring in Hyam and Caulker. Are we stronger than last year?
Wouldn’t say much weaker that’s for sure

1 left back who's shown he's clearly not up to it and another who lost people consider slightly worse.
4 wingers? Hedges? Dolan at a push? Who are the others?
5 CM. Oldest is 24. 3 are 19 or younger with hardly any first team experience. No pace, physicality or experience in there. What if we want to play with 3 midfielders?
We are woefully short.
Hedges Dolan Markanday Brereton

That's not enough if we want to challenge anywhere near the Playoffs.
From what I've seen JDT is a fantastic manager, but you only have to look at the benches of Sheffield Utd, Boro, WBA, Norwich, Watford etc to see 3 isn't enough.
I think it’s enough to challenge, in the sense that it’s an open league and anyone can challenge

There's no way you just called Edun a LB!
It's why I keep asking how far away Batty is, because Edun is terrible at LB. He almost sulks when asked to play there - his body language is completely different when asked to play in CM.
Okay, 6 CMs for 2 spots

Just now, BankEnd Rover said:
Agreed but the 2 left backs for 1 spot are well well below average.
I’d say one is average and one is below average

Woefully short at LB, CM our wide and up front.
4 more players needed even if BBD stays.
2 left backs for 1 spot
4 wingers for 2 spots
5 CMs for 2 spots, not exactly what I’d label ‘woefully short’

Caulker’s reputation amongst English fans is damaged by his performances during a period of struggling with addiction, since then his career has turned upwards in Turkey and he’s been sober for 3 years, clearly a player with experience, ability and a point to prove, get behind him.

Yet we havent got Leninhan and Van Heckes replacement in...
Oh yeah and by the looks of things we aren’t trying to either 🤥
-
Not sure why any Brereton sale would suggest we didn’t have a budget without 🤔
also, for anyone confused, Steven Caulker has not yet re-signed Flor Antalyaspor, despite what Wikipedia suggests.

His contract is expiring.... but would surely cost around £3.5m....

5 years ago id be happy with this, seems very odd, he's not a ball playing CB? He's a tough tackler yeah but now 30 years old, just doesn't seem the type of signing JDT would want..I'm on the fence if I'm going to be brutally honest, he has championship experience etc just seems a really odd signing [if true]
Interesting, I’d be happier with this now than 5 years ago personally

4 (basically 3) in 10 days is more than achievable

Best get a wriggle on then, we’ve 9 days left of this one…
final 8 days we made 4 if you want me to be more specific...

once again reiterating we made 4 signings in the final 10 days of last summer window...

I think it's a football decision, which in many ways is more worrying.
Why is it worrying?

Conspiracy theory time. Anyone reckon Dack's card is marked because they want his wages off the books?
He must be top earner with Ayala by some distance. They can't get rid of Ayala and he's out of contract soon anyway so not too much to worry about there. Can't imagine, given the drive to cut wages, that Dack's are sitting particularly well with those running the show.
