  1. Recently bought God of War: Ascension.

Has anyone else experienced a glitch in the game where you are battling the second Fury at the Gauntlet of Apollo?

Early on in the encounter she simply starts to float in midair and cackle. You can land hits on her but none score. The phoenix thing which is flying around earlier has by this stage disappeared. The whole thing appears to be stalled.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

  2. Just watched John Carter(yes, of Mars!), Stuff the critics(especially kermode), its actually a really good old fashioned type of family (sci-fi/adventure) film, it has its flaws&plot holes but far less so than Dark Knight Rises and you don't really care cos Carters not a film that takes its self that seriously anyway(again unlike the smug hack job DKR).

You really are a minority voice aren't you? Whatever one thinks of The Dark Knight Rises, John Carter was a horrible, horrible film.

  3. Saw Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds on Monday night. Excellent, save for the fact he played for an hour (as part of larger bill, though he was clearly the main draw). I'd have been ###### off I'd paid. Watched it from the balcony of my mate's apartment overlooking the stage.

  4. I've heard good things but I'm not into Sci-Fi....would you class it as that.....as in i'm not into stuff like Star Trek and the like, not necessarily any science-fiction programme.

It's nothing like that. I was put off for years due to similar reasoning. You'll not regret it.

Make sure you watch the miniseries first which is set prior to season 1. Essential to knowing what's going on. There are similar spin-off productions explaining larger elements of the story. These were released during the course of the five seasons but they're not as essential.

  5. Went yesterday to see it, thought it was very good.

Also saw trailers for Expendables2, Total Recall (remake), Superman (remake) and New Bourne film. What's with all the remakes at the moment?

Superman and Total Recall are both based on original source material so I'm not sure any film adaptations can be called remakes.

The Expendables 2 will be even worse than the first one. Guaranteed.

  6. as season 2 been aired in the uk yet?,i have seen it its as good if not better than season 1(i got it of pbay months ago).

Superb. There is a very late episode which contains a flashback depicting one of the most shocking moments I've ever seen on TV.

  7. Have a friend who really likes and plays ice hockey so on his recommendation I watched the movie "Goon", once it gets going, not too bad, the language was a bit colourful along with a few other surrounding factors which were a bit of a distraction and very silly but the sport story in itself is fairly good so that is up to the viewer as to whether they want to wade through the first 30 minutes of this stuff. See, a goon is a hockey player on your team that fights and according to the movie, fights to protect your own more talented players from the other team's goons, fighters, enforcers. I always thought an "Enforcer" was a protector and a "Goon" just got into fights, maybe make cheap shots. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1456635/reviews Reviews on the movie. The geography (Canada, New England, Quebec) is a bit interesting as well as this taking place largely during the winter.

Had to finally see Tin Tin, read the comics some as a kid. I thought the movie got a little to fantastic at the end. I'd have to read the old comics to see if the movie were faithful to the old comics, I've even had a Tin Tin t-shirt for several years.

An enforcer protects his team mates and seeks to change the momentum of the game. A goon is a guy who barely makes the fourth line and takes cheap shots regardless of the effects they have.

  8. How does Game of Thrones compare to the books? Is it like most things where the books are better? I take it you highly recommend the books? And do the books get better/worse or stay roughly the same as they progress? I get the impression when watching Game of Thrones that it hasn't truly kicked off yet if you get what I mean....maybe not counting the last episode.

The books are fantastic. I can't recommend them highly enough. However, even after 5 (huge) books, things haven't truly kicked off. It's a very slow burn.
